Again, it’s not what he said. And terms like “reinventing“ are basically marketing buzzwords at best. Unless all smartphones at the time, and the people with the knowledge to phuysically make them, were Thanos’d out of existence….then Apple didn’t technically reinvent jack. They certainly did make the space better but iPhone is an evolution of an existing product by any stretch of understanding.
You just seem incapable of understanding the transformation that occurred after the introduction of the iPhone. Apple invented the modern incarnation of the smartphone, the same phones that are used today. End of story.

A) Not what OP said.
B) Open to interpretation.

For us ignorant folks. You keep claiming apple didn't invent the smartphone but you don't tell us who or what. Facts matter so educate us or go into the ignore list.
I’m in agreement. Apple didn’t invent the smartphone. They improved upon an already existing model.

FYI… Apple didn’t invent the MP3 player either.

Have you used a Xiaomi phone recently?, they hace some really nice feature above what Apple offers. Competition is good. Blindness made huge companies die. Hope that Apple copies more from any other brand (finger print reader on the display, periscope camera, vibration when the call is answered, editing a misstyped dial number, smart rotation of the display, etc.). Really, some high end phones have some super cool features that Apple should copy.
I like my iterative iPhone, but it is getting tiresome to be stuck on the "just good enough" user experience without any real improvements.

No, it’s not open to interpretation. Additionally, reading comprehension skills are not just about what was written but also about being able to interpret and understand the meaning and intent of what was written.

Um yes, they are made in China. Designed here, Made there.
I know exactly where they’re made. Designed here by a U.S. company and to that companies specs is not the same thing as it being a Chinese phone, designed and built in China by a Chinese company. It’s mind boggling that this has to be explained.

A) Yes it is open to interpretation.
B) Again, for the third time, I can only respond to what someone here TYPES not what they think or mean. It’s hard to have a debate when the other side keeps changing after all right?

OP claimed Apple invented smartphone, they simply did not. They might have re-invented the modern smartphone, to use the buzz word, but then someone might as easily say it was a refinement of existing ideas. Watch the keynote for the introduction, Steve Jobs basically gives you a point by point on how they took existing ideas and put their spin on it. Again, open to interpretation and opinion.

Clearly you are in the dying throes of any argument; being a jerk to me and others. Moving on.

Where do you think your phone is built?
Once again, do you think the CCP can have my personal details because it's built in China? But how are they connected to the Chinese government? Are you saying the CCP can see what's on my iPhone and have my personal data because it consists of Chinese components?

This is rich…coming from the company that literally copied Apple on all products and even keynote presentations.

If you want to rival Apple, define a new product category. Just creating another high-quality iPhone clone impresses nobody.
I can't be the first one to have thought this up, but you might have just accidentally created a new word......a niche one admittedly: IClone.

Edit: Also a synonym for Samsung. * dig dig dig *

What do you mean once again? I never said any of that. You said "Chinese companies won't get a penny from me." and yet they do (albeit indirectly) when you buy things manufactured in China. I have nothing against people choosing not to buy directly from Chinese OEMs, but supporting Apple is also supporting Chinese companies.

So they iterated on the smartphone then.

They made a really good phone, but that’s not inventing the smartphone category.
Smartphones before the iPhone were a joke. Apple completely disrupted the market and the proof is here today e.g Samsung, one plus, …all of them…I wonder where they all got the idea of a full multitouch touch screen?

The OP made that claim in reference to the comments made by Xiaomi. What kind of phones does Xiaomi make? Do they make phones that look and function like Handspring/Palm Treo’s? How about Nokia N95’s? Do they look and function like those? Or maybe you’re under the impression that they make phones that look and function like Blackberry’s? No, what they make are phones that look and function like modern smartphones do. Ya know, the one Apple invented. It’s blatantly obvious to anyone that isn’t a child engaged in pedantic semantics what the OP meant and what he was referring to and getting at. Please do “move on”.

Most of what is manufactured on this planet has a component, or part that has been crafted in China. So there's that.

Let's remember that the iPhone couldn't copy and paste text for a full two years before we start calling things jokes. And again, for what feels like the millionth time, I didn't say they didn't improve or popularise smartphones, I said they didn't invent them. Read what I actually wrote.

I currently live in Hong Kong, there is a Xiaomi flagship store. They have a number of nicely designed products at a good price. I bought a splendid “urban backpack” there, a battery pack and also a few of their very affordable oled fitbitalikes as presents. Even a nice wooden train for my kids! Obviously I didn’t buy their phones though I found them quite attractive, as android phones go. I expect however that Samsung will feel the competition more than Apple.

Most every time someone posts some veiled future negative prediction about the demise of apple, Apple posts a recording breaking quarter or the market cap moves etc.
