I approveEver buy an iPhone? You’ve bought a Chinese phone then…
They invented the modern smartphone. The phone landscape changed drastically overnight after the iPhone was introduced. So in a way, they shaped the industry.Apple did not basically invent the smartphone.
I’d guess the Xiaomi phones will ship with on-device CSAM scanning and probably other scanning too.How do they intend to copy Apple’s approach on privacy?
This is almost an impossible goal to hit. The current population in China alone is $1.4 billionWouldn't putting one of their phones into every person living in China make them larger than Apple? Not sure on current population numbers.
That’s an entirely different claim (and a lot closer to reality, although I don’t 100% agree with that either). They invented the modern smartphone. The phone landscape changed drastically overnight after the iPhone was introduced. So in a way, they shaped the industry.
There's iteration, there's evolution and then there's revolution. Apple's original iPhone was nothing like the existing phones at the time other than they both accessed cellular networks. How many phones do you see out there with physical keyboards running WAP browsers these days? Pretty much as close to zero as you can get.So they iterated on the smartphone then.
They made a really good phone, but that’s not inventing the smartphone category.
I miss my Palm Centro with Touchstone…it was like living in the future.
Edit: I think it was a Pre actually, not Centro.
Palm (and Handspring), BlackBerry were all such neat devices for the time. Apple arguably improved the packaging (some still prefer physical keyboards), and smartphone capabilities have come a long way thanks to new apps, etc. but the early smartphones and PDAs did feel more "futuristic". I guess AR/VR is the future of today.
Wouldn't putting one of their phones into every person living in China make them larger than Apple? Not sure on current population numbers.
I notice you didn’t use the one word I actually disputed - invention. There's iteration, there's evolution and then there's revolution. Apple's original iPhone was nothing like the existing phones at the time other than they both accessed cellular networks. How many phones do you see out there with physical keyboards running WAP browsers these days? Pretty much as close to zero as you can get.
?Would love to see two Queens slaying Xiaomi with hand claps.
Yeah, if I had to go for Android I'd either go for Samsung or Motorola or even Sony. Chinese companies won't get a penny from me.i'd say samsung is better
Where do you think your phone is built?Yeah, if I had to go for Android I'd either go for Samsung or Motorola or even Sony. Chinese companies won't get a penny from me.
