The funniest bit is where he implied that companies will copy Xiaomi lol
They may as well be called iXaomi

This sounds unfair to Xiaomi.............as a side note,Xiaomi is a Chinese word that translates as 'Apple'
Apple does NOT have any right to dictate how the industry designs their phones. Every Apple fan needs to watch this:
In plain sight you see that Steve Jobs lied about Apple inventing multitouch. They did NOT. Nor did they invent rounded corners, a home button, a wedge shaped laptop or anything aesthetic.
They clearly copied the wedge shape on the bottom, but nothing else. I remember those Sony laptops, really cool machines. Shame Sony have left the computer world now as for PC's they looked cool I thought.
I hate lazy designs, Xiaomi are VERY lazy. Nokia have also been lazy with it's N1 tablet IMO:

And the iPad Mini:

Sure... The chamfered edge is the only thing...[/QUOTETh
The phone looks nothing like an iPhone, the other things though are copies and they should be sued.
I'm confused, wich one is one? When Steve Jobs announced the original MacBook Air he actually used a wedge shaped Sony laptop for comparison. So clearly Apple wasn't trying to pass off the MacBook air is the first wedge-shaped laptop. For me copying is about the sum of the parts not an individual feature or design element. Like the HP Spectre that was clearly aping the aesthetics of the MacBook Pro.

Improved multi-touch? Is that what Apple's invention is? I'm sure that would hold up in the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
A few points:It's not theft when it's legal. Apple has bought out lots of companies. There's been talks about Apple buying ARM and having their own CPU, thus competing against Intel, costing them millions as well. But nobody will have an issue with that, right?
So basically, it's excusable when Apple does it, but not when it's someone else.
Hardly objective.
Aesthetics are not patented so there was nothing illegal and Apple doesn't have a case, therefor, all the complaining in this thread is rendered pointless.
But we can complain about hypocrisy. How can Hugo go up and say everything he says. Just look at Xiaomi product line, they copy the look of the store, apple tv, the colours of iphones, trackpad, slogans... come on.. If you are going to act, dress, and pretend to be a cat, then don't say you don't like cats!
I harp on Apple and Tim a lot, and of course Apple borrows/steals tons of ideas. But you can't say Apple hasn't broken barriers with new ideas and concepts. Introduced novel designs (just look at the history of the imac), and been original. We can all pick example on both sides, but there is a reason they have become the most profitable company in the world. And a reason why they were so successful every time Jobs was at the helm.
I look at Xiaomi and how they have no shame to even try and be different or be creative, they are lazy and I say call them out on it.

LOL, yeah, the whole chamfered edge, rounded corners, etc. is pure nonsense. Nobody owns the design. Apple, and apple fans, need to get over themselves.
Xiao who? Who cares? Why are we validating these guys by talking about them? In which universe do they actually matter when compared to Apple?

I really thought Apple would have gone this route, not just with an App, but really make the Apple TV the hub of home automation.
