People on here are literally complaining over this?.

There has been Multiple threads of those complaining about the bezels on the XR. Which in all reality, is exactly what I said before, it’s a non-issue and always will be.

However, with all that being said, it is subjective.

No one is taking away others opinions from what they want to think, but as I mentioned, outside tech forums, ‘bezels’ are the last thing being discussed on the XR.

I just got my XR yesterday, replacing a 7 Plus. I have a Spigen Slim Armor with 2 card slot on both, which is not (despite the name) very slim. I favor protection for my expensive phone, and the card slots, over slimness. Overall it fits my hand well. It looks a little chunkier than the 7 Plus did as it is shorter, and a little thicker, but I like it. I think being a little shorter means it fits my pocket better too.
The XS and Max are great devices, but they are over the threshold of what I am comfortable paying for a phone unfortunately.

For me the XS is what I preferred and that is because I have a right thumb that was broken 35 odd years ago, the thumb was broken immediately below the knuckle. Reaching across the screen of the XR was difficult for me when I was texting. I also have a tendency in dropping things without he right hand due to the same issue with the thumb. Anything larger is just makes it more difficult for me to handle. Since I have the dropping issue and slippery surfaces make it worse I also bought a Otter Box Defender to assist in the grip issue, make it more comfortable to hold and to protect the phone when I actually do drop the phone and I will drop it at some time in the future.

However, with all that being said, it is subjective. What you might find silly, the next person might care about. Even if its a small increase in bezel.

I understand why it seems ridiculous (and to be fair it is nit picky isn’t it)

Is it an issue? No. Does it prevent enjoyment of the device? No. Does the XR have its own strengths? Best battery life yet in an iPhone goes a long way for some people. It’s crucial for my own job as I need the device to last on a work shift.

Plus the tech itself is impressive - it was not possible for apple to get a slimmer lcd in with that much space all the way around a device. What they’ve managed to do with Japan display is impressive as is currently.

That said,

people have a right to be critical of the bezels. A lot of people who have said this are used to the thinner slimmer look of the X or XS/Max. If you’re used to seeing that and then go to the XR, it’s noticeable. Again keep in mind that thickness is all the way around. I also use a X as my personal device and it’s very apparent to me.

Do I care? Not really. But I can notice it and say it as a matter of fact.

No one looks at a single side in isolation because if that was the case people would notice how the XR’s side bezels are thicker than iPhone 6/7/8 as well

I’m having a difficulty getting past this. It’s just a tad thicker than the X, but to me it looks cheap.
I’m still on an iPhone 6 and while there is a frame, the inset black bezel is thin and refined.
It’s subjective and many say you’ll get use to it just like the notch.

Yeah it’s funny because I use an XR for work; X for personal use and I notice it regularly

But I’m still able to use my XR and over the course of the day I get used to it or it doesn’t become an issue.

I think it’s fair to say that if it is noticeable for someone, just stick with the slimmer and smaller X or XS. Better size for people used to a smaller iPhone too

iPhone XR is about the size of the Plus model phones in the hand
