I'm not at home right now-but does anyone know if the Apple TV PBS application carry past episodes of Frontline?

Access to PBS Kids? Sprout?

If it does then that would be awesome!

Full episodes of Frontline are there, PBS Kids is previews only. I didn't see Sprout.

Comedy Central content, you say? I'm down with that.

PBS requiring an account is bizarre. If I tune in OTA PBS on my TV I don't need an account. Why now?

The PBS Roku channel is the exact same way. It threw me off, but it was easy enough to just throw one of my spam email addresses in there and move on. On the Roku it has some great stuff. I'll have to update the Apple TV tonight to see how it compares.

Same here.

Any time somebody wants me to do something that I need to sign up for I am usually done.
No Facebook, twitter etc. etc.

As Graucho Marx used to say:

I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member".

PBS app need live feature

Wish I could watch live PBS programming on the app. Some other Apple TV apps have this. It must be a contracting thing.

My question is how do we start turning off apps or reorganizing them so that the 90% of the apps we (broad generalization) don't watch aren't in the way?

You can hide apps in settings. I think it's under Privacy... can't remember at the moment... google it.

I think I am going to update one of my Apple TV's, I'd hate to lose my jailbreak, but I am missing the last 3 or so updates.

I love the promo picture attached, it has Rob Ford in it. It's about time Canada has a politician that's interesting. Even if it's just because he's a crazy drug addict.

PBS is a good addition, though it's not working right now (videos are not available). Guess they (PBS) didn't plan properly. I love incompetence.

Yahoo Screen? A total waste of time. It's a mishmash of crap that's already available on YouTube. It's like Yahoo just wanted to throw something together to put on connected boxes.

Where is Amazon Prime? I am still waiting Apple TV.

Never-going-to-happen.

Amazon prime is a competitor to renting movies and TV Shows through iTunes. I don't know why people keep holding their breath waiting. They will be waiting until they turn blue in the face and pass out.

It's great getting these extra 'channels' but Im not signing up to a million different offerings with Facebook, google etc etc. I don't even use them. Until there is a way to 'sign up' with your appleID i.e. doing diddly squat, I won't be accessing the new content/channels. If you have to pay for content fine, but do it via AppleID. I don't want a million different accounts!

I agree. I despise Google+ and their draconian policies that have attempted to force you to reveal your true identity online, increasing risks of harassment (even from local restaurants if you give them a bad review), ID Theft, etc. Heck, I despise Facebook too (the world doesn't need to know my social life) and don't even get me going about Twitter (does anyone really want to know when I'm taking a dump in tweet? TV Shows are starting to cover their shows like Fast'N'Loud with "tweets" that are annoying; I don't give a hoot, let alone a tweet what some random nobody thinks about a given scene; I just want to watch the SHOW).

So WHY anyone would want to TIE television channels to social media is just beyond me. Add to that insult the fact my cable provider is not one of the "big" ones listed on Apple's approved list for most of the other channels and that means I can't use any of these "new" channels they've been adding. If you have Time Warner, you're set. If you have a small independent cable company (or satellite for that matter), you get NOTHING (except your home screen on your AppleTV cluttered up with a dozen new giant ugly icons that are useless; there should be an option to hide ones you can't use to get rid of clutter).

So how does one create a PBS account? I don't see a specific option on their website. I have had a dig around and found this though: <https://account.pbs.org/accounts/openid/register/>

Not sure if that would create a valid account, and I'm not currently in front of my ATV to test wether that account works or not.

Also, does anyone know if the PBS app is US specific? I ask as being in Canada, I do watch a couple of PBS stations, WNED being one, which does cover the Toronto area, so one would like to think that PBS isn't being restricted to just the US.

I do not understand why people keep on saying it is competitive towards ITunes when it is available on your iPhone or iPad. So what you are saying does not make sense at all.

Agree 100% that the UI needs a rethink.

Same here. The UI is a holdover from when Apple offered a remote function on the old white iMacs. The remote itself hasn't even changed much since then. It was fine when all I could switch between were Music, Movies and Photos. Maybe Apple keeps holding out for the interface that Steve had said was "the simplest you can imagine."

Nicely Done Apple!!!

They are doing good things no doubt. I have an Apple TV, and use it more often than I did a year ago when I originally had for a couple months. Keep on bringing more gigs Apple...

Nice work! :apple:

More content is always great.

Personally - I still can't figure out why they don't have a search capability for your own library. I have over 700 movies in iTunes and I have to scroll through them to get to the one I want. And no - I don't want to hook up a keyboard. I'd like to be able to search at LEAST by first letter...

I don't know why they don't offer that either but whenever I'm looking for a movie I bought, I just search for it in iTunes. Listing pops up. Click it and play. Boom

These aren't movies I bought on itunes. They are ones from my collection that i have ripped.

Wow - NOT!

Where is iTunes extra? They don't even support their own services and content and yet they keep adding other channels which are not supported outside of the US.

Apple always informs us how much of their sales are international buyers and yet they never include hardly International content.

I think many european countries would be happy with just getting the basics like iTunes Extra, iTunes Radio and things like iPlayer (which is on just about every other platform) and other catch up services

Sometimes I feel the Apple TV is useless outside of the US.

It is. Apple have shown they really don't give a damn too. It's just an expensive iTunes rental card really. Right now a Raspberry Pi with XBMC installed is way more useful outside the US.

Whats stupid is that it would cost them nothing to put BBC iPlayer at very least on it - its a HTML5 compatible player, all they'd have to do is provide a frame for it to load in, which already exists on the AppleTV. Creating an app for it really would literally be a 30 minute job, and the BBC have long said that they have no problem with Apple doing it.
