Yahoo Wants to Be Apple’s Default iOS Search Engine

How? Bing is already the default search for Apple and most people would just change it back to Google anyway.
Tried MS/Y! and went back to Google
During a recent period of frustration and anger at Google I tried to ditch as much of Google's services that I'd become reliant on.
Search was the first and most obvious.
Didn't take long for me to relent and go back to Google after getting fed up with crap results from MS/Y!.

Apple will not buy Yahoo
Yahoo does not fit Apple's model of corporate acquisition -- at all.
Apple might buy a small start up with a good idea and a demonstrable new search engine. There is no way Apple will buy a huge company like Yahoo. Read what Tim Cook has said about acquisitions when asking during the Q&A following quarterly earnings announcements.

Well with Glass, the boat thing, etc. Google is becoming the antithesis of privacy. I'd rather see a barebones search engine integrated with Spotlight or something, or even just a plain search engine like Google was in the olden days
Not a big deal since those that care will just change it back to the other options. I think the bigger issue is the set search options, and not being able to add your own. I think the bigger issue yet is not being able to choose your own alternate search engines in safari on the desktop. I would want to use startpage.com on everyting, but as it is, I use firefox on the desktop instead, and simply dont search on the phone unless I *really* have too (and then manually go to startpage, in order to avoid *gasp* the others).
By using Yahoo! you would be using Bing since Bing powers Yahoo! search.
I did that stupid bing challenge form a year or so ago and google won all three times. Not sure if that means anything.
For those of you who keep with the "LOL Yahoo! is Bing" comments, re-read the article. Mayer has been trying desperately to find a way out of the contract with Microsoft.
If Mayer could pull this off, with how she has already turned Yahoo! around, Yahoo! stock prices would skyrocket even further.

I have to ask: do (custom) Andriod products require them to use Google by default, or could Mrs. Mayer pull off a smilier deal with Jeff Bezos and Amazon's Kindle products?
