tried my luck at the display lottery, first 7 was noticibly uniform at the bottom, my new one is wayyyyy more uniform, not noticeable anymore except the display is slightly dimmer and warmer, more redish tint than yellow, keepin it!

Sounds good. Probably about as good as they come!

This is called True Tone, and is not a feature that has carried over to the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus.

I've read these new devices do not have true tone. But they have wide gamut. Are there any links/references to true tone in iphone 7?

Can some one summarise the last 23 pages and 573 post for me!!!! o_O

Just bought a 7+ 128 MB and the screen does a look a bit more yellow.

What the conclusion? Manufacturing defect? Normal for 7+?

People disagree about whether the yellow is a defect or not. I bought two phones to compare. One was more yellow than the other, but both were more yellow than my 6. Neither looked bad to me.

Neither display is perfectly uniform. But from my research online, no IPS display is going to be perfectly uniform, at least not at a reasonable price.

You can adjust the temperature in the settings now. So, if it's too yellow, you can make it bluer. People disagree about how well this works.

All iphone screens are going to have imperfections. Don't search for the prefect screen. The technology isn't at that point.

Having read this thread, I think there is an infinite number of variations of the displays within a certain range of tolerance in manufacturing.

Some are closer to the outer limits of that tolerance, borderlining on bad, and some bad apples (no pun intended) get through the QC, which is most surely done on the level of "batches of displays", not individual displays.

Is it a lottery? I'd say yes. It's the same with LCD televisions, in my experience: no two panels are the same.

At the end of the day, I think it is the tolerance of each individual customer that Apple has to deal with, case by case.

You are 100% correct, and everything you say sounds very rational.

It's difficult to give advice to people regarding replacing their phones, because we can't see what they have. Pictures are largely useless. Everyone just needs to understand that there are very few perfect phones. it's a fools game to search for one, unless you just have nothing else to do with your life. Find one that's good enough, and stick with it.

Can someone show me where you can buy clear liquid glue that turns yellow and that takes days to dry?

When I fixed my Android phone screen, I used a kit that had liquid glue that is clear (l.o.c.a.) and cures/dries in 30min with sunlight/uv light.

Thanks for the summary. I'll compare it to my iPhone 6 but I don't think it will bother me as I suspect I'll just get used to. Its has a slight yellow hue but not that bothersome

You are a wise man and I am trying to take your advice. Thanks.

They cannot, because it's simply a ******** about glue. It's never the glue that caused yellow display or required long curing. It just doesn't make any sense and illogical. The yellow tint isn't going away. I also did tried to put the phone under the sun for hours, it doesn't change anything.

Those who claim yellow tint went away, I can guarantee you that comparing to your old phone again, the screen suddenly become yellow once more.

Exchanged my phone in store tonight and got home and unfortunately is the same build number F2. Screen looks the same to me. Very yellow indeed compared to my 6s plus and other devices.
Compared my first 7plus to the display models in store and all those screens looked fantastic. Same settings etc and they didn't look yellow one bit.
Looks like I will be returning and ordering afresh so have another 3 week wait for a device which I hope will be a different build number.
Paying £819 so I don't want a screen that isn't good enough

I just received my 7 today and it's hard to decide. The screen looks good but not £700 good.
I sold my One Plus 3 to go back to iPhone and I think amoled has ruined me.

Where can I check the build number? Read a lot of stuff about F2 but can't find that anywhere?

Go to Settings - General - About and check serial number. First two numbers/letters. This is also on the box. But a guy just got a bad F2 so i dont think we can assume all are good. The first two was speculated to be factory codes in past years. However, each factory could have batches of screens from one supplier and batches from another. So it will be combo of build date and factory to pinpoint the good screens.

I think you're right. I'll take it in on Saturday for an exchange. I'm really not happy with this.

Just received my iPhone 7 plus 128gb matte black and think the display is rubbish compared to my 6s plus. No way is it 25% brighter and seems horribly yellow
That's piss yellow. Take it back.

Ok that is really bad. Mine is even and though slightly warmer than the 6s but it's more natural and has better contrast and colors pop. My SN starts with C3. Mine is a 7+, wife is 7 but both of our screens are the same.

So this is my iPhone 7 plus screen, not sure if I'm being paranoid or not.
