That would be great! I am coming from a iPhone 8 Plus so its ALOT cooler - I was a bit shocked at first at how yellow it is but easier on the eyes, I also feel once true tone is off its a better overall color but compared to my monitor and LCD iphone its warm as hell.
I’m sorry it took so long. Trying to get my very busy daughter aside for phone screen comparisons with her exam and work schedule wasn’t as easy as I’d thought. This was the best photo I was able to get that didn’t have a moire pattern from the interaction between my SE2’s camera and the displays. I don’t know why my daughter’s 12 Pro looks bigger than mine. I’m guessing it’s because I had to quickly put an iPhone 11 screen protector on hers because our 12 screen protectors had not arrived the day her phone was set up. I’d only just applied the newly arrived 12 screen protector to my iPhone that day the photo was taken. Or it could be distortion from getting close in with the single wide angle lens on my SE2’s camera.

There is a size difference between protectors for the 11 and the 12 despite both being 6.1” screens. The proportions are slightly different. The screen protectors should not have affected the colors of the screens too much. Ideally, I would have made all things equal by removing all screen protectors but that would be an expensive thing to do just for a photo.

Hers is on the left. Mine is in the middle. My 11 Pro on the right. My 11 Pro doesn’t have a screen protector on.

My daughter’s phone has a slightly more clean display. A bit better contrast and a little better brightness at the same settings. But this could possibly be due to different screen protectors. The 11 Pro display looks a little whiter here, but under most lighting situations the difference isn’t as pronounced. Unfortunately it was late night when the photo was taken and I turned all the lights off to minimize reflections from my kitchen lights. My daughter is happy with her phone. I am returning mine, but not because of the display. I need a lighter phone so I’m going with the regular 12 or a mini.

Until I got my XR I never realized how nice it is to have a light phone. My 12 is soooo much lighter feeling in the hand and it makes using it just a nicer experience.

This is my 12 Pro, min brightness in a dark room showing raised black level. The image is a zoomed in screenshot of the black Apple wallpaper. I’ve tested 3 12 Pro’s and they all do this. Weird.

It affects some content at higher brightness too.

I have the same. It only appears at 10% screen brightness. So weird. Should I return the phone? Is Samsung or LG supplying the panel this year for iPhone 12 Pro?

Mine doesn't do that. I've tested it on 2 separate nights.

I’m sure it does!
Huh, that top line wasn't a reply to you. Don't know how that got there.

Anyway, no it doesn't display any green light. I checked in complete darkness. Opened a pure OLED black image, turned brightness completely down and then even switched off the screen with the lock button to make sure nothing changed. It didn't, the pixels were already off.

Great for video but not so much for a phone interface is my take from that. I mean my OLED TV is calibrated for film which is very warm tones but again that’s great for the video my not for the interface. Specially a phone interface that’s primarily white and grey or yellow and khaki in that case.

IDK if something happened in the background or what, but basically its not doing it as bad as it was days ago.

And it seems to be more extreme when theres lamp/indoor light on.

Am I fooling myself or just settling into despair?

Honestly I felt the same! I’m leaving it.

Thank you for putting in the good word for the 12. I’m trying that first, with the mini as my last resort, albeit a nice one. I was surprised how badly the 12 Pro kicked off inflammation in my hands. Sort of like carpal tunnel syndrome feelings. I’ve been using my Samsung S20 all day. It’s one gram lighter than the regular 12. So far, so good. I’m hopeful the 12 will work out great for me. I will miss the zoom lens for portraits but its absence is an acceptable compromise.

Ok honestly how many of you guys have had a chance to enjoy the phone rather than stress over the screen over the past week?
It’s a great phone in every other way! I’m particularly impressed with the quality and capability of the cameras (this is coming from an X).

Just wish it had a screen as good as the X to look at the beautiful photos on! 😕

I have to see I've felt the same at times.

This forum was screaming bloody murder when the X was released because of how “yellow” the displays were and complaining about the move to OLED. The irony kills me sometime, ha.

I won the X lottery, the 12 pro I did not

Because for some reason you still don’t get that some X screens were perfect and some were yellow. Same as this year.

You mean the same as every year with every new iPhone model. That's what Apple considers acceptable manufacturing variance.

It's not a matter of "getting it." Every device that has a display has this issue, it's not limited to Apple and it's not limited to iPhones. If the device is obviously defective, return it. If it's not up to your standards, return it.

I'm agreeing with you. That doesn't disregard my initial comment that it's ironic that people complained about the display of the X (or any other model if I'm honest) and look back on it with rose tinted glasses when a new iPhone model is released. This time next year we'll have the same thread about the iPhone 13 with people saying the iPhone 12 displays were good, lol.

Because they will be comparing it to the good iPhone 12 screens. Not the yellow screens. That’s what I feel like you’re not getting there’s a batch of yellow and a batch of good every year and every year when we have this thread it’s comparing to the good ones not the yellow ones

Retuned the 12 pro today at the apple store after initiating the return over the phone. No questions asked. Could not warm up to the yellow 😉

Can anyone who doesn't have the 'yellow' tint on their new iPhone 12 pro screen please post a comparison against their new vs old? Just so I know im not going crazy.

I've had mine replaced and although its better than the first, I can still see some of the yellowish tint.
