Thought my display was a bit warmer than it should be so thought i'd come here and see if anyone else had same problem, didn't realise this was a thing as had an 8 Plus since 2017.

Heres my 12 PM on the left and 8 Plus on the right;

Definitely a lot warmer and now i cant unsee it, do Apple do replacements for free? If so whats the chances i'll actually get a unit that works properly this time?

I think your display looks pretty good, I wouldn't mess around with getting another one. You can't compare it to the 8Plus as its a completely different screen in the 12 Pro Max. The 8 is an LCD panel and the 12's are all OLED. You could get a much worse display replacing the one you have now.

So I’m also seeing an issue with my phone having a yellow tint in person. Next to my X I can see the difference easily. Unfortunately I can’t put them side by side since I don’t have another camera. Do you think I should go exchange?

Just because it is more yellow tinted than the X doesn’t mean it’s worse...

I’ve updated to 14.3 and I see the screen relatively more bright and less yellowish at the expense of being more bluish, but might be placebo.

Try it and report it

au contraire, my max ( on 14.3 ) has turned warmer than it was on 14.2 🙄

Flashing back to 14.2!

I’ve been glued to this thread. I got an iPhone 12 Pro that had a yellow tinted screen, swapped it out at Apple...same thing, swapped it out again...and again the same thing. 3 phones, all with very yellow white points. I wish I took pictures. I ended up just returning the phone. I’m sticking with my X and sitting out on the 12 until the yellow screen issue gets resolved. I’ve been on iPhones exclusively since the 4, and have never personally had a white balance issue like this until now.

My mini has yellow tint. I have used iPhone 1 (first gen), 4, 5, 6s, 7, X, XR. No issues with any of them (except 5 which had battery issues). 12 mini OLED is ****.

at 60+ pages, this is getting the traction it deserves. Apple, hold your quality assurance, engineers, suppliers accountable for all the returns you might be getting. And most importantly, please acknowledge if there are affected units!
They won't do anything, see the same thread from last year regarding iPhone 11 Pro/Max..

I have the same yellow tint problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max Pacific Blue 512gb, the photos, videos and everything else looks dull and yellowish, adjusting the colour filter is a lacklustre workaround the first four digits of my serial number are G0ND, now I am not sure whether to hold on to it and wait for a software update to fix it or return it

My 12PM has the same first four as yours and the same screen issue. I’m planning on exchanging it. If I can’t get a satisfactory display, I’ll return it and go back to my XS Max.

I hadn't even noticed my Pro Max screen was so yellow until I just had it next to my mother's iPhone 11. Its very badly tinted yellow compared to hers and now I cant unsee it and hate it. I was contemplating going down to the 12 Pro anyways, so this would be a good excuse to

I’m just waiting for the whistle blower and class action lawsuit that Apple purposefully ignores standard quality control measures to have enough units for launch. This was my first OLEF experience ever and all I have to say is my disappointment is immeasurable. If this isn’t fixed with a software update soon I’m never buying an apple product again

I had off axis blue shift which was really annoying with even holding the phone whilst texting (iPhone 12PM). I bought a second unit. It was brighter and nicer.

However at night in dark mode whilst on minimum brightness, I noticed my greys in reddit were all green tinged. Ran a grey uniformity test on YouTube, and what do you know, my display is completely green tinged halfway up and all over the place in the middle. No such issue on my previous 11 Pro Max or my sister’s 12.

I can’t believe I’m having to do the screen lottery this year, I’ve never had an issue in the past.

I feel your pain. Today I'm receiving my 3rd unit (this one goes to my wife). So far no luck.

Question for people doing color filters. Does this make the screen “blurrier?”
I know people said it changes contrast but does that make text less crisp?

i tried turning it on and off and I notice text looks the same crispness wise but it does make other colors look off.

Received my 12 PM on friday, and having followed this thread I noticed my display was off compared to my X. But with covid closing the only Apple store here, I wasn’t looking forward to having to send it in and wait for exchange.

Serial n° starts with: G0PD - for those keeping track.

After using it for the entire weekend like I would any phone, seeing if I could live with it. Added, I do use TT and NS under normal usage. NS does make it a pissfest, but rather that than cooking my eyeballs out of my sockets. TT was fine, even when using both my phone and MBP.

Onto the display in its purest form: it has perfect OLED blacks at any brightness. No flickering, no gray tint, nothing. Just black. Color uniformity is also perfect. Not cooler or warmer at one end, just a perfectly uniform display. Display brightness seems OK too. However: after 3 days of use, the display at full brightness (no TT, no NS, automatic dimming off) I do notice that the display is just that slight tint warmer than my X. It is a whole lot brighter than my X however. It has gotten better after a few days of use it seems, but I don’t want to give the “its adhesive curing!”-camp not a lot credit.

So this is where I‘m at. Either my X’ display has a cooler white point, which is a little more pleasing but might not be the correct white point. Or my 12 PM is a little warmer, which isn’t as straining to the eye but also not correct. Have a comparison below, but at this point I’m not convinced I should subject myself to the lottery of displays because of it.

Happy to hear your thoughts! (Pictures made with my ‘17 iPad Pro, so not the best)

My 12PM PB also has the same first four characters of the serial number and exhibiting a yellow display compared to 11PM. I’m sending mine back and have initiated the returns process.

My green tinted iPhone 12 mini goes back and gets exchanged. Let’s hope for a good screen this time.

Strange to hear only from blue/yellow tinted screens and not from greenish ones, I wish I had one of the former.

My iPhone 12PM starts with the same serial number as yours and it looks exactly the same as you describe your 12PM. It’s slightly warmer than my iPhone X but everything else about it looks better, from colour shift to uniformity. I think I will just keep mine as it doesn’t sound like there are many better panels than ours out there and knowing my luck I will end up with a phone which has other problems such as rattling speakers, dust in camera etc.

Mine starts with F2LD.
