Wasn’t as noticeable on the 12 compared to the pro max, the panel on the 12 had way better contrast, everything had a lot more color to it, it was the first thing I noticed after setting up the phone, using the the default iOS 14 wallpaper it had a deep rich color, looking at the pro max with the same wallpaper, it looks lifeless, dull, faded, reds look more orange than red.

Night mode looks horrible on the pro max, grey and whites are even more yellow when night mode is in use.

Highly doubt apple is using Samsung panels in their pro models, if they are, they are using really cheap panels.

My xs max screen was flawless, regretting that I sold it.
Bummer, you can return it though right?

Everyone should just return their max's, get another keep till 8/1 xmas return, if no good get another, i wouldn't be going over the 14 days hoping on a fix.

Tons of people getting “defective” ones. There is no yellow film.
Whats your explanation for some looking extremely yellow, and other not looking that way, and matching known good phones from prior years?

My mum got a iP8 2 years ago, when i saw it was the worst yellow screen i have ever seen, she didn't say anything and i didnt either, she's 75. so it's been happening for a loooong time.

How you going with the camera? lot of complaints with telephoto and zoom on whirlpool forum.

My sister just texted me why her screen looked brown. She used to laugh at me for comparing screens. She is across the state in medical school so no way to compare phones at the moment. She just picked hers up at the store on a trade in.

F17 serial. Pro Max blue. Im helping her set up an express replacement. But this is important because people that arent apple obsessed (like most of us here lol) are starting to notice this issue

True tone off etc

Here’s my 12 mini compared to my iPhone 8. Both max brightness, TT off. It’s seriously a night and day difference. I have a new one coming in tomorrow and I’m really hoping I get one thats better.

sucks when it looks worse than an older LED iPhone. Been there last time I tried my hand, with some X units.

I'm convinced a good LED iPhone is superior to a crappy OLED panel. if that's all you can get. at that point, the XDR talk, and OLED talk is just marketing

Here is my 12 pro DNP express replacement from AppleCare. This was taken with my roommates Galaxy S7, forgot to take a shot before sending previous unit back. Since receiving on Friday night I have been satisfied with it.

Looks like a keeper for sure

Nope, sold my xs max as soon as I got the phone. 🤦‍♂️😂

Apart from the screen color issue, the phone is amazing, battery life is unbelievable, 5 days in can’t kill it in a day.

Snap. My 12 leans a little more to red and makes black text look sharper. There is very little colour shift when tilted. My 12 Pro Max is very uneven yellow and looks a little washed out. It shifts to pale blue/green with any amount of tilt. Viewing youtube in dark mode for example and the dark greys look so warm and yellow. With truetone on it looks orange/brown like it's soaked in tea! Ugh...

Camera compared to my xs max is amazing, having the same issue like other people are having, can’t zoom in really close, camera finds it hard to focus, haven’t really tested out the telephoto lens yet.

I'm sorry to say that, but single shots of one phone are not really usable for this, since cameras do auto-white balancing in relation to the subject they capture. They basically compensate for it if there is no other reference point.

Thats why photos of this issue are only useful if they are directly next to another device, preferably another OLED iPhone.

See if you can get an express replacement. Many 11s posted in this thread had good screens.
Ill give it a try, I looked at the serial number thing. The XS was made 2020 Jan and 11 was made 2019 nov. I wonder if there is a pattern in better quality with much later production

Definitely not especially for an older model. Just luck of the draw.

lol taking it to the next extreme, so if someone says their screen is not yellow you think they don't know? And you want to see proof of a photo next to a yellow screen, c'mon.

I get that, when I received this one I put the other issues to testing, packed the previous unit up, and went to FedEx. Roommate wasn’t home and would have had to wait until today if I were to do a comparison. This is my 3rd one and it is not yellow.

I don't think they are saying the user doesn't know, just that cameras will correct anything that is supposed to be white to look perfect white. You could take a picture of toilet water and it would come out white in the pic.
