I noticed I had this yellow tint with my 11 PMax (Owned it for three months) compared to my XS. It was ridiculously quick to notice the difference, as if I was having a “less white” filter on the 11 while the XS is perfect.

I took both to an Apple store. Showed them to the person who was dealing with me. She compared first her 11 pro max to mine and didnt see a difference, but it was clear that my XS looked much clearer with the whites than her or my 11.

Unfortunately it didn’t lead to anything because she didn’t believe one can compare an older models panel as “they might differ to why they look they way they do” and that the phone was still working well. I’m just gonna try another store that’s authorised and maybe they can replace the screen if I’m lucky.

Can anybody tell exactly what the disadvantages are when using the color filter? I fiddled around with the settings and managed to get a better and more natural white than my previous XS, Brightness is the same as before.

See if you can get an express replacement. Many 11s posted in this thread had good screens.

Just read through the thread people. Summary is reduced brightness and contrast, and impact to other colors. Artificial layer of color that distorts the rest of the screen. Shouldn't have to do this to fight a physical yellow film, take back the phone!

Dark mode looks revolting on the 12 pro max, especially macrumors forum, Grey colors look like a combination of yellow and green. 🤦‍♂️

If apple doesn’t fix the screen issues with a software update, I’ll lose a lot of confidences in their products. Not right to ship a screen that displays colors incorrectly, especially a phone that cost $1849.
Did your 12 have it you returned?

Color filter doesn't change the definition of the colors, it essentially just puts a giant transparent digital film over your screen. So colors won't be completely accurate.

If you use the Red/Green Filter, Green/Red Filter or the Blue/Yellow Filter, yes, but not when you use color tint. The former reduces the respective colors for colorblindness I assume. I used Color Tint and the Colors/Contrast on both my iPhone 12 mini and iPhone XS are exactly the same, even better on the 12 mini. Compared it to multiple websites, images etc.

If you are happy with it, rock it. What you are describing still puts a layer of color between you and the content. Like wearing tinted glasses on the ski hill.

I called Apple the day my 12 Max arrived on launch day. The guy said I was not the first to call about this and he didn’t believe it was a hardware defect. He emphasized the huge amount of control Apple has via software updates and it wouldn’t surprise him to see an update for this especially if more people call

Sure, I'm using it for now and see how it works out, maybe something catches my eye. Have to wait to get a response from my retailer about the exchange anyway.

ask and ye shall receive

the camera really makes my SE2020 look a bit yellow, its not to my eyes in person its just much less bright than my 12 Pro. the third photo is just SE2020 (taken with my 12 pro) camera to show this. last photo is just 12 pro (taken with SE2020 camera) lol. still doesn't give it justice, it is such a FANTASTIC panel in person.

Took the second photo out of focus, to capture brightness intensity and general pure white color tint. The 12 Pro at max brightness is INSANELY bright on a good panel, its awesome

interestingly, my crappier mini 5 was able to capture the direct comparison better (more accurately) than my 12.9 2017 iPad Pro could

TT off, 100% brightness, auto brightness off. Also, ignore the nits descriptor on my SE 2020, its just part of a jailbreak tweak but doesn't affect this at all
Can you post the serial first 5 too please?

I wouldn't trust these call agents. They will say anything to get you off the phone feeling OK about the situation. Their feedback does not usually directly go to the decision makers of the company (unless those decision makers choose to take interest int he latest call center feedback in their spare time).

If you are outside your return window, try an express replacement or genius swap. if you still have time, return that thing.

Wasn’t as noticeable on the 12 compared to the pro max, the panel on the 12 had way better contrast, everything had a lot more color to it, it was the first thing I noticed after setting up the phone, using the the default iOS 14 wallpaper it had a deep rich color, looking at the pro max with the same wallpaper, it looks lifeless, dull, faded, reds look more orange than red.

Night mode looks horrible on the pro max, grey and whites are even more yellow when night mode is in use.

Highly doubt apple is using Samsung panels in their pro models, if they are, they are using really cheap panels.

My xs max screen was flawless, regretting that I sold it.

Yeah my 12 pro max is F2LDK and I am happy with it,if I am not mistaken these models are from Foxconn
My PM is F2LDL and it was amazing when I received it ( compared to the Pro and almost as good as my bright white and sharp XS )... However, I'm starting to see some green/yellow tints at low ( <10% ) brightness... Also has the grey screen issue aka no inky blacks at low brightness.

My 12 is similar. Its got a yellow tint, but dang are colors rich and beautiful. My homescreen looks like candy.

Hope you're right, but I highly doubt it, loving my 12 pro max, size, battery life, speed, design, shame that it has a faulty piss yellow screen, or poorly calibrated screen.
If it was software they would of fixed it every other year too.

Why it’s just going to have the same film. Plus I bet no one has a 12 pm in stock

Since many have been asking for proof a good screen 12 exists, and no one seems to want to post it, can you post a shot of your 12 next to your SE for comparison, so we can see a clear screened 12 in all its glory?
I've posted mine 12 twice, maybe keep up to date it's your thread and bandwagon lol.

Know exactly what you’re talking about, the contrast was amazing on the 12, colors pop on every page that you're on.

Was going to order a Apple silicone MacBook Pro today, but after seeing what apple has done with their iPhone piss yellow, yellow green greys.

I’m going to check them out in store today before making my mind up, lost a lot of confidence in buying apple products without checking them out first.

YouTube reviewers are a bunch of lying grubs, not one of them has mentioned any of these issues regarding the 12 series screens.

I posted mine weeks back too, although not sure I might've removed the comparison photo since it wasn't a good representation

Still, don't mind sharing the glory again! :D have to inspire some hope for some people

but I feel everyone, that screen lottery is hell and a real thing
