Why does True Tone make my screen yellow? Without it looks white as you’d expect with no yellow tint
That’s why they should add a slider really for individual adjustment. For everyone saying it's a software issue - why do you think that would be the case? Some phones are more green tinted, others are more yellow tinted. The degree of the tint is highly variable. Each display needs to be calibrated individually at the factory. Any software changes would apply to *all* iPhones with a certain display type. There would be no way for them to tell that yours is green and only adjust yours with software. There are some phones that have no issues whatsoever with their displays and are currently functioning today.
Think about it.... when you calibrate a monitor professionally you have to do it on an individual basis.
So not using dark mode is better for contrast?
which is why I believe a software update will fix this.
They should be able to use serial numbers or other identifying information to figure out the affected displays. Or who knows, maybe they will add a white balance slider.Like others have said - if it is a software issue how does Apple know who’s screens are allegedly affected and who’s aren’t?
Not trying to be a butt, I really hope a software fix will work too!
Thread is 68 pages long, yet macrumors still won't grow a pair and write up a news article about the issue, instead they are busy writing articles about how the HomePod mini is available for same day pickup from the apple store. 🤷♂️🙄🤦♂️
Back with the iPhone 4, they were literally producing and shipping the phones so fast that by the time the consumer got it they still weren't dry yet. It went away in a couple days but it shocked a lot of new buyers. They don't use glue anymore though that I know of though so it can't be an issue anymore. What's with the claims that glue has to first dry? Is there something to it? Seems really unprofessional and out there to me if they ship out devices where glue is still "wet"(?) and affecting displays.
Ok, interesting. But even if it is an issue now it should be dry by those who got their phones on the 13.11. or earlier.Back with the iPhone 4, they were literally producing and shipping the phones so fast that by the time the consumer got it they still weren't dry yet. I, too, have been plagued with numerous generations of iPhone yellow screen; some generations were perfect while some were not. However, like I posted other times during this thread, my iPhone 12 Regular has a near flawless, cool, bright white, vibrant screen. I’ve compared it to numerous in-store display units as well as an Express Replacement.
Don’t convince yourself that the “screens are warmer this year” just because you are only seeing people in this thread that, unfortunately, received a subpar unit. Millions of screens are the cool, vibrant, color shiftless units such as mine.
I’m simply telling you this, so you don’t have the wool pulled over your eyes. In years past, I’ve played the screen lottery to the hilt; I know it’s a struggle.
But, please, don’t accept something you are unhappy with. Good money has been paid for something not to be as expected.
The less people settle, the more Apple will notice. I gave in on my second 11 Pro Max model because the screen lottery was a pain. I wish I hadn't. I only helped enable Apple to continue on ignoring the issue.
Do NOT wait past your return window date for this so-called "Software fix". Support people over the years have promised such things form time to time and they never come. The only software fix there could be is an adjustable white point, which they should have given us 10 years ago. If these panels do have a physical film on them, sure it can be countered using white point, but in reality the panels shouldn't have shipped to begin with. They seem to think it is a software issue. I also believe this. Sent in diagnostics, in touch with senior support, they are forwarding it to engineering. They will have something within 5 business days. They advised they dont feel a replacement or repair would fix this issue.
Since many have been asking for proof a good screen 12 exists, and no one seems to want to post it, can you post a shot of your 12 next to your SE for comparison, so we can see a clear screened 12 in all its glory?the thing for me is it isn't a sure bet I upgrade every year. I end up doing it lots of years, but not always
my SE 2020 for example I will hold onto forever. Got such a great deal and its good to have a modern 2ndary backup
my 12 Pro, it's looking like minimum 2 years maybe more. Don't want to shell out $1k again soon, or play lottery, or any of it. Really happy with the hardware
so it sucks especially if you aren't resolved to "well I'm on iPhone upgrade program, I'm upgrading regardless of what's offered or not feature wise" mentality.

The answer is literally posted throughout this whole thread, in multiple places. One of those places is the response directly after yours.Never understood why people just don't adjust the color tint to their liking? Accessibility>Display&Text>Color Filters>Color Tint (Hue and Intensity can be adjusted).

Very Nice! May add this to the OP, with a notice not to post the color filter fallacyask and ye shall receive
the camera really makes my SE2020 look a bit yellow, its not to my eyes in person its just much less bright than my 12 Pro.
Took the second photo out of focus, to capture brightness intensity and general pure white color tint. The 12 Pro at max brightness is INSANELY bright on a good panel, its awesome
interestingly, my crappier mini 5 was able to capture it better (more accurately) than my 12.9 2017 iPad Pro could
TT off, 100% brightness, auto brightness off. Also, ignore the nits descriptor on my SE 2020, its just part of a jailbreak tweak but doesn't affect this at all
