The problem here is apple buying cheap crap oled panels, I’m never buying a launch day iPhone again, I’ll wait till people can actually confirm the screen doesn’t have a yellow tint. (Not Youtubers)

What’s the point of having this lovely designed phone, amazing processor, extra ram, big 6.7” screen, then all you see is contrast is dull and whites and greys look yellow.

Thread is 78 pages long, surprise surprise, still no news article from macrumors, wonder how much apple is paying them to keep quiet.
Very true. The hype and buzz they created via keynote was unreal but its not backed by the actual product.

Ive already sold my 11 pro so no going back for me lol. EE allows new boxed replacements for up to 30 days so will see plus the unit Ive got is much better than pics Ive seen in this thread.

It's the date that you received the phone.

I pre-ordered my Max on the 6th, and received it on launch day (13th).

Therefore, anyone who purchased a Max or Mini should have the extended return window.

I pre-ordered a Pro Max on November 6 and picked it up at my Apple Store on Saturday, November 14. When I go into the Apple Store app and select start a return, it says that I have till January 8 to start a return. I’m in the US, BTW.

If all the previous iPhones had always had a slight yellowish hue and then they had blueish this year, there would an 80 page thread complaining of the blue screens.

My Pro Max looks perfect to me until I compare it to my SE 2020. It’s not so much that the Pro Max looks yellow; it’s that the SE looks blue. The cooler color temperature makes it look like the SE has better contrast and the Pro Max a little dingy.

My Pro Max does have excellent screen uniformity, which is much more important to me than color temperature.

So I think I’m going to keep this phone and use and enjoy it and stop obsessing about the screen and comparing it to other phones.

Just received my Pro Max and can´t compare it to my XS Max because I had to give it back (I got it from work).

The screen is warmer compared to my iPad 12.9 Pro 2020, but not p*ss yellow, just a little bit, but it is noticable.

The most important thing is that I´ve got an uniform screen now. My Xs Max had different brightness in different areas. :)

I was comparing my friend’s 12PM earlier and it looked yellow and dull, could not reach anywhere bright as mine. Turns out his Accessibility “Reduce White Point” was On for whatever reason. He was OCD’ing since Friday lol because everything else was Off.
Thanks for this. Mine was turned on too! Doesn't change much but still...

they did a story on the mini problem, this yellow screen has been going on for years probably why they haven’t, same every year lol.

My 12 pro max is just slightly warmer than my 11 pro max and I have to keep TT off it’s way too aggressive on the 12.

I got my iPhone 12 pro on release... phone is very yellow compared to my XR... i ve compared it with multiple 12 pro but I did not find any that was particularly better... given that I bought this through Saturn (German Best Buy or something) if I purchase Apple care ++ can I exchange it I. 2-3 months when maybe things are better?
I honestly don’t know what else to do...

So...I have received my replacement 12 mini today. Unfortunately it’s also yellowish, has a slightly green tint, but the screen is less dim (although still not as bright as my 7) and the colour shifts less on this screen when viewing from different angles. The colours are still not accurate though. People’s skin tones are greenish on this screen as well. I’ll add photos. They are taken with my iPad, so quality isn’t the best. And in real life it’s easier visible. (In real life the mini screen isn’t magenta tinted, but yellow/greenish)

I’m super disappointed in the green tint. With a warmer screen I can live, because like I said earlier my iPad and 7 are a little on the ‘cool’ side. But with the green tint I can’t live. It’s just not right that the colours are not accurate.

For the people who are interested, these are the serial numbers:
The mini I did send back in Monday: C6KDM

The mini I received today:
C7CDK

About the ‘raised blacks’, I can’t replicate it on the replacement. I’m trying again tonight when it’s dark.

So, I’m not sure what to do now. I’m leaning towards sending this one back, get a refund and then buy a new one in January or February (hopefully it’s fixed then). I’m not so sure it’s software, because there’s too much variety between all those screens. I’m afraid a replacement won’t help. + Here you only can return/replace 3 times, Apple Support said.

Edit: in dark mode the greys are greenish on my replacement mini too. The blacks and greys look better on my 7 with a LCD screen!

I guess it is all a matter of opinions, but judging from the photos, to my eyes your 12 looks better than the 7.

Yes it’s easier on the eyes, I agree, but colours are not accurate. People have a greenish skin tone on the mini. I’m a photographer and I can’t un-notice that all colours are off. You can see it on the photo with the plant as well, the green is not green but has a yellow cast. And my 7 screen is a little on the blue side indeed. But colours are accurate, also if I compare to my 6500k calibrated screens.

So considering all these post what do you guys suggest to do?
return and do what? I don’t have my XR anymore but apparently the entire 12 line is affected by this problem.. change brand ? 😔

Phones at the apple store were also yellow :( I think I will be waiting a few weeks before I exchange mine...still very disappointing

I’ve returned my first mini and ordered a second one, it’s brighter but still with the same yellow tint when compared to XS or 11..and personally I think it’s probably the same if order a third one now lol. Maybe return it and wait for 2-3 months..or call Apple Support for a replacement and hope for the best ...really disappointed

After all this I just found out my phone suffers from the black screen flicker issue.

Im going back to my X for a couple months, returning this f’in thing.

Can you please elaborate how you found out / how to check if ours have it as well?

I used an X-Rite i1 Display Pro, they’re totally worth the couple hundred bucks, along with CalMan software.
Can you explain what option and settings use to profile iPhone screen? I have i1Display Pro also and want try Calman to check CCT/white balance and deltaE.

I just came off the phone with Apple support (I’m in the Netherlands). And the lady I spoke to said they are working on the green/yellow cast/tint. The blacks that are not black (raised black issue) and the touchscreen problems that the minis have. She said it’s almost certain it’s all software and that they hope it gets fixed in an update. So I hope she’s right and she didn’t tell me this so that I would stop calling them and returning my phones ;)

I don’t know how to feel about this

It is worse in live 12 pro (serial number: f17). Even at other angles the difference is striking. I think I'll ask for replace.

Iphone 12 pro and iphone X. automatic brightness off.
