Yellow Tint!

Don't be stupid, it's not a colour preference!

White should be WHITE, not yellowy.

yellow or warm.... not everybody likes cool colors. i like my tv's kind of neutral to cool but i don't mind the semi warm color of the iPad. but i don't think mines that bad.

I've gotten so much out of this thread, I thought I'd share my two cents worth...

I received my iPad on Friday and I was immediately disappointed by the yellow-ness of it. That's when I started Googling and found this thread. So, I recognized a problem before I read about it anywhere... this isn't hypochondria.

I tried to get used to the display all weekend, but it just never got any better. I went to the Apple Store yesterday to replace it. The Genius gave me two options...

First option was that he would give me a "genius swap", but he would do this only once, since the display was definitely yellow, but it was not outside of the acceptable range, according to his manager. However, if I did this, it was mine. I couldn't return it within 14 days for a full refund. I would have to live with the outcome. That sounded weird to me, but he's the Genius, so whatever.

Second option was to do a full return and re-buy.

I did a return and re-buy. Sadly, the new one is just as yellow as the old one. I started doing things to burn in the screen after reading about them here and elsewhere, but after 14 hours of burn in, the display hasn't gotten any better.

My plan is to wait a week and do another return and re-buy. If that one isn't any better, I'll return it and just wait a month or two to see it this settles out. Personally, I find the yellow screen unusable. YMMV.

If you do the "Genius swap" option, it might be a good idea to make sure you're not giving up your right to return it for a refund.

Thanks.

I dislike the yellow tint on mine but I'll eek the device out for another 2-3 weeks and wait for an official statement. Efter that I'll get it swapped out for one which isn't yellow.

I wouldn't plan on hearing anything about it from apple. $2,000 iMacs have had this problem for years with no acknowledgment from apple. I'm on my second iPad and both have had the same problem half white half yellow. I'm going to wait a week to return and rebuy. I figure I'll just keep pushing back the 14 day return date until I get one that's the same color across the whole screen.

just got a refund for mine from currys, they were very rude about it all, kept me waiting for 45 minutes while they comapred it to the other ipad(2) and i pretty much had to convince them that it had a yellow tint at the top.. anyway im going to get another this weekend from an apple store i hope its better if not thanks for the refund genius idea, very disappointed about this whole yellow screen business

i can't tell but is this yellow or normal? This is from my iPad photo-4.JPG

Im in a conundrum. I have an appointment with the Regent Street store in a few minutes to try and get my iPad replaced with a non-piss yellow one. BUT i also have an exchange set up with Apple Online and their collecting my iPad tomorrow.

Question is do i risk a warranty replacement from the store today or allow Apple ship me a new iPad from the warehouse (might not be a Samsung screen) within 4 days? In both cases i might end up with a worse iPad. But with Apple Online i can return whereas with the Apple store i lose my return eligibility after a warranty swap.

Anyone successfully swap out a yellow iPad for a decent one in a retail store in the UK?

Dude, this is so yellow I am getting a retinoblastoma... Ahhh, help.

Just kidding, bro, your display looks terrific. It's a keeper, just like around 98% of screens on this forum.

Consider yourself lucky and enjoy the best digital product ever made.

My screen is pink. I only noticed it yesterday, but it's definitely pink and now I've noticed it I can't un-notice it.

Yellow. Pink. I'm going to start a rumor on here that my screen is green. I'm certain there will be someone who comes on claiming they now see the same thing.

Are there really that many people who obsess over stuff like this instead of enjoying their purchase? Never mind ... I know the answer.

I wouldn't say that's normal at all, the top seems to be a yellow shade, I had this problem, I got a refund and I will try and get another

I went to Currys, they didn't have any left so got the money back for mine, I'm gonna go to an apple store, the people in normal retail stores don't have a clue what the screen should be like at least apple people will

Or people who googled their issue and landed here?

Based on the photo orientation the top left and right edges have a yellow spotting in them unless that is caused by the camera.

So is it wrong to demand a product that is as good what others are getting?

Taking a picture of a display is a horrible way to to get feedback if it is "to yellow". Is the camera setup and even capable of capturing a neutral photo? Probably not. Also if you hold the iPad or the camera at a slight angle it can cause the display to look uneven.

I am not saying yours is not uneven etc.... Just take the responses with a grain of salt.

Did you take that in the dark? If so that would be the cause of spots.

Would all of this screen related issues tide over with batches manufactured 2-3 months from now?

Listen, if you think you've got something bad, you REALLY should compare it with the dozens of iPads at a store.

This way you can be sure and not worry about it.

Went to the store and the lady pretty much advised me on what i was already thinking. Return to Apple online, get a BNIB iPad. And if i'm still not happy come back to the store for a swap out.

It's weird when I look at it it's not yellow but when I take a pic it looks like the glass is tinted yellow

iPad 3 (left) - iPad 1 (right)

Wow. From what I can tell, this is the first time I've managed to get a good unit on the first try.

No backlight bleed or dead pixels, no scuffs/scrapes, and the screen temperature is indeed warmer but not yellow. And despite what I was expecting, it's actually brighter than my iPad 1. It seems dark in spots in this picture but the backlighting actually more uniform than the iPad 1.

It kind of makes it obvious how cold the temp on my first-gen was (although not as pink as this photo would suggest).

Now I can actually...you know...enjoy this thing.

Your left side is warmer/darker on your new iPad. It seems to be universal.. but annoying when reading, taking notes, etc.

Well after returning mine with 3 dead pixels now this new one has 2 dead pixels and the top screen to the FaceTime camera has yellowing.. my first 16GB didn't have yellowing or dead pixels I swapped it for 32GB because that size was not for me..now I'm having this problems.whats next heating issue I'll get:confused::mad: just going get full refund and get it later again in a month I'll stick with my iPad 2 for now.. Back to apple store tomorrow again good thing it's right by my work..

Nope, just the lighting/photo making it look that way. I checked using the old "yellow tint test" (that four grey square image created durring the iMac yellow tint craze) and it's uniform grey throughout. My original iPad, however, does have a bit of yellowing on the bottom 1/4.
