Nope, just the lighting/photo making it look that way. I checked using the old "yellow tint test" (that four grey square image created durring the iMac yellow tint craze) and it's uniform grey throughout. My original iPad, however, does have a bit of yellowing on the bottom 1/4.

Could you provide a link to that image?

One thing to note is that the ambient light makes a big difference in perception here, especially for those with white iPads who are (foolishly, IMO) trying to compare their white bezel against whites on a screen. At work, under fluorescent light, my white bezel looks much closer to a cooler white than it does under incandescent light, where it looks creamier. Whites on your screen will take on a different character because of the relative contrast. Some of the interactions between the ambient light and your LCD screen wil cause things to look a bit different too.

And it really does end up coming down to what most people are accustomed to. The unfortunate thing is that we're mostly all used to overly cool displays, for reasons that've already been discussed. But for those with "yellow" tinted displays.. give it a chance and let your eyes adjust over some time.. you might actually find that colors are richer, and that the warmer white will look more natural to you over time. If anyone's ever tried to pick out a shade of white to paint a wall, you're probably familiar with the fact that pure white is actually pretty awful to look at, and you'll usually end up preferring a warmer color.. The same principle actually applies to displays..

The yellow tint I was seeing on my iPad has slowly been going away since Friday. So much so I've been having to turn the brightness down. When I first got my iPad, brightness was set to about 60 to 70%.... Today I had to turn it down again to under 50% because it was hurting my eyes. Everyone might not have the same experience but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Is the whole screen a yellow tint or only certain parts of the screen?

mine is definitely warmer than my older iPads but definitely not yellow. The auto-brightness seems to dim the iPad a lot more than the older versions, so to really test it, make sure you turn auto-brightness off and turn the brightness up all the way.

I compared it to my macbook pro and my iPhone and it def has the best look out of all of them.

Mine is more yellow on the left side esp towards the top. Other then that the rest of the screen is white. I wonder if it will go away like some say in a few days. I got mine at apple.com. May try to get one at the Apple store and see if its better and return the worst of the 2. I don't want to exchange at the apple store and get something worse. I do not have any bad pixels, bleeding etc.

Well I think i may have cracked the tint issues its the coating that is being applied to the glass and it has not cured yet as time goes on and you use the iPad the screen is warming up and the screen panel on is helping the curing process. A genius at the apple store and I were talking and it came to me and he is hmm that might be as he heard they are using a different method for glare and polarization on the glass. This is kind of backed up in a few ways.
1. Dsiplaymate found the new iPad to be slightly less reflective than the iPad 2 2. Some are reporting yellow on certain parts of screen not other(Reflective curing at different time )
3. It seems to go away with more use(The heat from screen is help curing glass faster)

sound off what are your thoughts.

By the way my pinkish hue is almost all gone now.

Does anyone's screen look greenish if you tilt the top of the screen away from you?
(holding it portrait with the home button at the bottom).

My Apple Store experience was that I carted my iPad in and compared it to the display models. To my eye, my iPad looked darker and to the yellowish hue as compared to the pure whites on the display ones. I was told by the Apple people there not to compare to the store models. smh

They also took the thing to the back and a "genius" checked it on some sort of computer back there. They claimed all look "normal". I just know what I see.

In any case, I was going to swap, but they had no 64GB Verizon iPads. I might go by there on Friday, but I fear a circus of going there over and over again, hoping in stock.

I might pursue doing the swap through online / shipment, as I had it shipped via FedEX. I'm still holding out hope, I guess, that this thing will "fix itself", but I know this is very unlikely.

This was at the San Tan Mall Apple Store in Gilbert AZ, for what it is worth.

Just sharing my experience today.

Yep... mine does. The top right looks a bit green even when viewing head on. When reading a book for example, the top right part of the screen is darker and slightly green. I bought (and returned) an additional iPad from the Apple store today that was green down the entire right side.

Yes. Mine shifts color noticeably when tilted away holding it vertically. Just wanted to let you know I'm seeing the same thing.

The yellow was mainly on the left side of my screen, holding it landscape... about a quarter of the way. The camera area if you're holding it in portrait mode.

The color is still a slight bit warmer than my iPad 1 but most of the yellow is gone now, and the whites look white. I haven't done anything special like leaving it running with a white background or anything. I've just been using the heck out of it.

It should be noted, that mine was not as bad as many of the pics I've seen... But it was very bothersome the first few days. It looked like it went from yellow to blue. I had considered sending it back at first, glad I hung on.

If I got one that was really bad I'd exchange it... If its just slightly bad, I would use it a lot for a few days and see if it improves. If not, I'd exchange before the 14 day mark just to be safe.

That's how mine is, I hope mine goes away soon too. So your screen is now all white from left to right?

It's funny how a lot of you have yellow tint toward the top, near the camera. Mine is the exact opposite and it is mainly concentrated up the lower left corner and along the bottom edge. I wonder if our panels are just turned around.

I can barely see about an eight of a inch along that side now that looks more like a cream color now. The rest is all white. Another day or two it should be totally gone. I wish I would have gotten pics.

Mine is on the top left to mid left in portrait mode. I'm going to put on a white screen and crank the brightness up and leave it on overnight.

I think this describes my issue.. I wonder if it it is common to all iPads... I need to check one out in the store.

I exchanged mine at the apple store today. I brought in my iPad2 and showed them the difference in color and brightness of my iPad3. The genius tech agreed that there was a slight difference in color. Since it was within 14 days of purchase they made a no questions asked swap to a new product. I'm happier with the new one.

My observation is that up to this point the iPad2 is the better device. There seems to be too many issues arising with iPad3. You have warmth issues, screen color, no siri, lack of brightness and an inability to charge under heavy loads. The apple store sales people said that they are loaded with stock and that they aren't selling as quickly as they expected. Maybe this will be resolved with the next iPad or an interim software release.

What are you guys using to attempt to "burn in"? Just leaving a white screen on for hours on 100% brightness?

Here's a trick to see what a non-yellow iPad3 might look like.

Take a screenshot (home button + sleep button) of something on your iPad where you think the color is off.

Go into iPhoto for iPad and change the white balance to the sunshine icon. Makes it look like it did on the iPad 2.

Here's my example.

Also, as you can see the yellow comes across in screenshots, so it's not a hardware issue and it's not going to go away with 'burn in'. It's software and in a perfect world iOS would let us adjust the color profile to our liking.

The only time burn in seems to help is for people who have yellow on part of the screen. For me it's the left side more towards the top. The rest looks white and is fine.

Sigh...

Yes, it is a hardware issue. If you take a screenshot and then view that screenshot on the ipad3 well of course it is going to show the problem, you're still using the same problematic screen.

Take the screenshot on the ipad and then send to another device like your laptop and then view the screenshot on that device.

In your adjusted photos all the text looks BLUE when I view it on my iMac (which I am using right now).

Mine definitely has a warmer look than my previous iPad. I actually never cared to compare this until now. I've enjoyed the warmer tone all this time without even knowing it. I actually prefer it now. And that's from an unbiased perspective :)

I haven't seen pictures of people that claim their screen is great. Perhaps then everyone would also see defects in their screens... ;-)

This holds true for any device forum that I've seen, those who claim 'perfection' cant seem to have a digital camera with them and show the rest of the members that there is infact a screen that can meet their standards of quality. Instead we are forced to take their word for it and end up endlessly going back to the store for a replacement because the self proclaimed majority says their screens are "perfect", everyone lies, I think those who claim that their unit does not exhibit the same issues as others and do not provide a picture are the ones causing more 'damage' compared to the vocal majority of people having issues.

Im hoping I can hold out 2-3 months more before purchasing and wishful thinking by that time screen issues will be minimized.
