What are people using for the white image while burning in the screen?

Thanks.

There's an app called "Flashlight" which is really good. It allows you to put any kind of pattern or color on the screen and either hold it or rotate through.

Didn't seem to make any difference. This is my third one. The first one didn't have a uniform color temperature across the screen either, and the second one had extreme backlight bleed.

17 hours of bright white screen did not fix the yellow tint (for mine, the yellow tint is in the top 1/3 of the portrait screen). Will try one more exchange.

Just tried 4 more at yet another UK Apple store.

2 yellow & 2 pink.

Ridiculous - and i saw about 8 people buy yellow and pink going away happy!

Still nobody here admitting to getting a perfect white one from UK store i see?

I have just received my replacement about an hour ago and the replacement has a perfect screen, no yellowing. I have a white test image that completly fills the screen and it is uniformly white all over. Also the onscreen keyboard has a uniformly color all over. I'm pretty pleased to have one that's got a good screen :)

Would you be kind enough to show us? You'll be the first in this thread to do so.

I've just taken a picture of the white image test image, with my digital camera. I'll upload it shortly.

Got tired of waiting for Apple to send me the replacement unit (still no order no), so I went to the Apple store to buy one;

This new one is superior to my previous but not perfect. It's more neutral but has a slight bias towards Red (pink tinge) which I'm much more comfortable with compared to piss yellow. Light bleed is minimal and no dead pixels.

The iPad's screen doesn't look has white in the pictures, has it does when viewed with the naked eye. All I know is that it's free from any yellowing :)

Count me in for yellow tint on the right half of my white 32gb AT&T model. As with a number of posts I've read here it's more pronounced in the top 1/3 while in portrait mode. Just under an hour (!) on the phone with Apple last night to get a replacement following a useless Restore through iTunes they had me do to try to fix it. Definitely a hardware issue as i see it. The white background burn thing also did nothing to mine which I've had since launch day. My iPad 2 is still here and has a perfect screen. No way I'm living with this thing and neither should anyone dropping 700-800 bucks. I wasn't surprised that this all sounded new to the first tech I talked to but the senior tech who approved the replacement said they wanted the unit for "evaluation". For other folks who've replaced how long did it take you guys to get yours from them?

That looks very uneven to me with yellowing on the right side.

By the way, bought 4 iPad 3s... one is what I would describe as "pleasantly warm'. I actually like the tone. The other three are extremely piss yellow. I have a genius bar appointment for later today.

Get my New iPad today, and is perfect... No heat, no yellow, no backlight, no wifi problems

I find it unlikely that they let you open up 4 new units instore and reject them all (unless you mean you looked at the display ones). Also, how did you see what colour screens people's iPads had when they bought them? They're in a box, aren't they? Unless you stalked the people getting personal setups, but I'm surprised you could be bothered...

Unconstructive.

I just got mine straight out-of-the-box and it has the exact same yellow tint issue. It matters if you tilt your iPad at an angle it gets worse but I believe now all iPad have this sort of issue. If the screen brightness is dimmer you will see it yellow more but it's not really that bad if your brightness is in the middle it's only when it's dimmer that you see it's much more pronounced.

Is this worth worth returning maybe but I don't want to risk more problems such as like a light leak. Right now I have no light bleed and some one third top portrait mode yellow tint issues.

I also did the towel wrapping trick and yet after two hours and a super hot iPad that yellow issue is still there I don't think it's a real bad issue but yes you can see it if you want to see it.

Would just like to add. My experience so far..

Bought the iPad Black 16Gb on launch via online Apple store, noticed the yellow tint and tried to work with it knowing I had returned the iPhone 4S for exactly the same reasons.. Few days later, regardless of leaving the brightness on full for some time, no change. The yellow dulled the display, regardless of a terrible auto-brightness setting.. So, a week later have called Apple to return it..

It just so happened I had some vouchers for roughly half the price of the iPad with another retailer who just happened to have one 16Gb unit left locally that I decided to reserve and contemplate taking a chance on the following day. Suffice to say I did and although I ended up paying more than expected (4G version) and worrying over returning if it was not to my expectations.. But after turning it on it is as beautiful display as I could hope for without a trace of the disgusting yellow tint. Whites look perfectly natural as do colour reproduction comparing my iPad1, iPad 3 (waiting return), and iPad 3 (4G).. I am not too sure if 4G versions have improved quality control.. But anyone who has the yellow issue shoul think about exchanging as there are perfect units out there!

Ok, I am not happy with this.

I sent mine to repair/replace after talking to apple representitive on the phone. Since there is no Apple store nearby, I had to send it by mail. They said they were gonna check the problem and probably send a new one. But they just sent me back the same one today without any problem fixed. They said when they did the testing, there was no problem with the screen! I checked with my friend's iPad 3 and his was clearly more white than mine.

So I called apple and did complete replacement process and returning it today to get a brand new one.

I am going to keep doing this until I get the one that satisfies me.

There are a lot of people with "issues" in this thread. And they aren't with their iPad's...

Mine seems to be going away I leave it on all night with brightness 100% and screen never close..I played 1 hour+ long pixel fixer thing on YouTube I do have 1 dead pixel by the FaceTime cam but no big deal cant really see it..but yeah I left it on all night and cover the screen with a small towel and woke up it was warm and the yellow seems to go away..I do have it chargering all night to help it heat up more..if it don't go away to my needs I'll return it and get my money back and wait a bit to get it again..been doing this the past 2
Days now still have 10 days for the return window..
