I agree but I am planning on gettin a used 2 fo way cheaper.

The iPad is too useful just to not get one. I'm sure I will adjust to the iPad 2 screen again .... I hope lol

This was going to be my first iPad so i think thats why i have less qualm about forgoing.

Ah okay well I am looking at a 32gb 3G iPad 2 for 500 which saves me 300 dollars and my damn peace of mind

A 43 page thread, so far, regarding the new iPad's yellow tinted screen. It's becoming a big deal.

Starting to look like Samsung have purposely sabotaged the new iPad, perhaps as a sort of retribution for the ongoing patent wars and/or Apple's continued success locally and abroad.

I believe Sharp and LG were the preferred suppliers prior to release but as a result of sub-standard quality, Apple remained with Samsung as the primary supplier.

Possibility? Or am I being ridiculous?

Has the yellow tinting gone away for anyone? I have a yellow/brown "dust" effect in the upper right quadrant of the screen when held in portrait mode. It's only really noticeable when I'm reading text on a white background, but considering I mainly bought this thing for e-book reading this is obviously a problem. I'm wondering if I should just return it or wait a week and see if it clears up (like some people are claiming). I've read through this thread and the people that have said the yellow tint went away by itself just don't sound very convincing to me. Is there anyone with before/after proof of "burning in" the screen?

Any statements?

Hey folks,
got my 16GB WiFi-only on the launch day and I'm still not decided whether it's got a yellowish tint or not. Since I didn't get the opportunity to compare it to other iPads I'd like you to comment on the pics which are attatched below!

In my place - what would you do? Keep it or rather get rid of it?!

Greetings from the (Commie) Block,
J.

Sure seems like it! But surely not...

I would think this whole iPad screen gig is worth to much to samsung in revenue to pull a stunt like that.

There is a lot of yellow screens and with many of us used to perfect screens and now we look to be really picky :( I'm gonna try few more and if I can't get near perfect screen, I'll buy the iPad2 back.

it looks okay to me. this isn't something i would necessarily look for. it's either apparent, and does or does not bother you, or your screen is fine. i think if your screen was that bad you wouldn't need to ask. i say enjoy.

I took mine back to best buy with no issues. They offered to replace it but I declined and defected to an Asus Transformer Prime. (way to long of a name). I am only missing one app but have recently bought the Humble Bundle for Android and it more than makes up for it!

Signed, the defector.

Looks fine to me.

Wont post backlight photos because they come out awful in any way, shape, or form when taking the photo from an iPhone.

To me Backlight bleed is MINIMAL, same as my old iPad2.

Yes, colours may be a little warmer than the iPad2, but now I find the iPad 2 was pinkish.

To me it's a Winner.

I would have gone back to an iPad 1 before going to the Prime. I tested one of those for work for a few weeks. Not a fan.

I might also mention that my first iPad3 had light leakage (not bleedage) and it started out with a warm tint; then when used in our nice hot 26 C week turned a nice bright white. It actually got too hot to handle in the sun! BUT didn't shut down. :S

If you don't KNOW looking at it that it's defective, it's fine. Don't borrow trouble.

So I went back and picked up another last week. I am disappointed. The yellow tint isn't going away. trying to burn in the screen, does nothing for me. Instead I noticed it gets super hot on the bottom left corner if you turn the brightness up. Super hot and doing nothing! Starting to like my iPad 2 overall, I don't have any of these two problems with my ipad1 or 2. But the screen is still amazing sharp. It's not fair, my friends all don't have this horrific yellow tint, but they all preordered. But I have noticed all my old apps run slower and make the iPad slower. I hope they get the compatibility fixed.

ever since reading this thread I've noticed every single defect in every screen I own.... I even noticed a brightness change in my macbook that I've owned for 2 years... :( honestly, I wished I would have never even viewed this thread. Up to then I was extremely happy with my ipad... oh well too late.

Anyways, just wanted to say that I bought a 32g att ipad and my GF bought a 16g wifi and I compared the two and her screen was very yellow when compared to mine, so there's definetly something up with these displays.... BUT when I compared mine to my MB mine was warmer, and I have to say that after using my ipad for a week it actually proofed to be more pleasing than my MB's dysplay, when I opened up my MB it looks awful. I prefer my ipad 100 times more. So people really need to stop comparing their ipad 3's with ipad 2's , even my GF's ipad you don't notice any yellow at all when using it, its only when you put it side by side. and I would also like to add that her's has 0 bleed, and the black looks black, whereas mine looked bluer-red

I did return mine though because the left 1/3 of the screen was darker and yellower than the rest which proofed to be super distracting, so IMHO the screen uniformity is a way bigger issue that the "tint" because the truth of the matter is every single display like it or not had a different tint to it, I'm sure my MB has a "tint" when compared to my tv and my tv has a "tint" to my friend's computer monitor..... people need to stop comparing their displays and just judge them by how how the look on their own....

I've gotta say, we shouldn't have been surprised with Samsung making the panels. The last time I bought one of their displays it was complete trash.

My iPad has a yellowish tint on the half left part of the screen. Since the problem is very common, bringing it to the Apple Store doesn't make sense to me at least for now. I have any entire year warranty, so I will get it replaced when the production process has become better, in the few next months. In the meantime I'm hoping it will auto-cure itself.

People that say their iPad is "perfect" simply don't know what an LCD panel is supposed to look like. It's that simple.

I bought 2x iPad 3's online on the 7th march (delivered 16th) and both had what I would class perfect screens (very close to the iPad 2 but a bit dimmer at the same brightness level). Only when I had to change 1 of them for a faulty camera did I notice the yellowing on the replacement, and since then 3 more replacements have all been yellow. I still have the working original one that I'm using as my reference "White" model, but I can tell you I did start with 2 iPad 3s that had nicely white screens.
