Seriously son, if you can't understand the point of this post by page 4, then I can't help you. If you STILL can't get the point of this post even after I told you what it was, well....I dunno....maybe I can put it more simple....let me know if this helps.
Oh... I think I pretty well do know the point of your post, and your subsequent insulting style... to wit:
point: to infor...(wait...I'll use small words)
Point: to tell anyone here that cares what information I found during my trip to the store, and to pass along my experience so that others might enjoy the story or relate to it in some way.
Is that clear?
If only that were true.
Here is what happened however...
In the first 4 posts or so, people focused on something so they could use it as an excuse to turn this into a 4 page bitch fest. They decided that was more fun to defend something so rediculous instead of talking about the information, which was (to remind you all).
But of course, lets focus on "Mapple" because until we make sure we respect the mighty fruit we can't get down to what matters.
Clearly...you wanted to make a point with "Mapple." It just took a little probing from the audience to get you to unleash your inner hatred. You'd have us believe that something as silly as that was actually meant in harmless fun, but it wasn't... was it. It was the bait. Now you can blame all others for being biased, worshippers and otherwise non-credible, right? In some ways, it was clever, but a bit too obvious. Do you seriously think most of us give a crap what you call Apple? Please, don't flatter yourself that much. But when you extend your flame-baiting to include most of us who are in the Apple community, you lose your own cred.
Wow...again...it's like you just sit around fabricating your version of the story so you make sure it fits your bias.
And... you're not biased?
Seriously, read your post over and tell me if you can pick out all the times in which you chose to skip details or add them to make your point. Perhaps you might notice where you assumed I was in a "bad mood" or how I called over a "genius" just so I could start a squabble.
I didn't say you tried to start a squabble at the Apple store. I did say you appear to be baiting folks on this forum into a response... and it worked. Good for you! Some examples:
My new policy....After my continuing experience with the company, I will continue to make the reference until I deem it to hold no water. Call it a bit of a personal rebellion/statement on my part.
My friend and I were in the Mapple store last week and we were joking that if you asked a question that was negative then two guys in suits would come out and escort you into the back, tape you to a chair and beat you until you accepted Steve Mobs as your savior.
I'll get slammed for this, but there are many aspects of the community I don't like. I just want a computer that works for me, I don't want to get high fives on the street because I have a little glowing fruit on my computer. When I got my iPhone at Costco, some employee ran up to me and said, "Woah, iPhone!! You're gonna love it!!"
All I was thinking was, "Dude...I don't know you, get away from me, it's a phone!"
So ya, Mapple is my way of making a small statement about many of the dislikes I have for the company. We will see if my MBP changes my mind, but so far, I'm not impressed.
You are basically a grumpy person... sheesh!
What I enjoy so much is how everyone gets their panties in a bunch over it. Seriously, don't drink the kool-aid!
...referring to your "clever" use of Mapple.
You're not missing anything, it's clever. Why is it clever you ask, because people seem to take offense to it...it's like calling your mom fat, or telling someone you slept with his sister......
There you go... that's more like it. Insult folks to get a reaction... very clever. See... you admit it yourself. Nice one.
I dunno, some people are just loyal to a computer manufacturer I guess...
Hey...it ain't a crime, and why should it bother you?
Perhaps what we might want to do, is actually think about this realistically....use Occam's Razor if you will to determine what might have actually happened instead of you coming up with some ridiculously distorted version to suit your needs.
Somehow I don't think I was that far off. I'd hate to deal with you if I was an employee at an Apple store... you're one of those who basically has his mind made up beforehand, and everything that happens then is seen to support that assumption.
1. I walked into the store 15 minutes early on a Tuesday morning.
2. I decided to check out the computer I had ordered online since it was the first time I have had the opportunity to do so.
3. I was approached by an over zealous sales person who decided to not only try and sell me something, but insisted on bombarding me for 15 minutes about how this computer would eliminate all my Vista problems (which he assumed I had...but I don't).
When I explained I wasn't interested, he continued with, "Well, I hear you're in here for in iPhone, have you heard of Mobile Me?" This continued until they were shouting my name at the back of the store. I said, "Thanks for your help, but I have to get to my appointment." yet, he continued following me up to the counter all the while talking about the advantage of Mobile Me.
4. I talked to the "genius" at the back about my iPhone, but instead of being open and honest about things, I was forced to dance this little dance to get information out of him. I realized in the first 2 minutes or so that this was not a conversation about my phone, but a game of cat and mouse we had to play so I could get answers.
You can understand how this might have been a little frustrating as I had just drove 2 hours to get answers and now I was sitting there getting these "beat around the bush" answers that were so obvious that it was insulting.
5. After my appointment, I decided to sit down and play with the 17" again...perhaps this time I would be able to do so without being disturbed. Another employee came up and said, "I see you're looking at the "about this MAC"....any reason?"
I was a little taken back, but he seemed nice and so I continued to ask him questions regarding pixels, problems, etc. He was nice, but not very helpful and so I eventually just left.
Was that so hard? I highly doubt telling the story like that would have generated negative responses. Probably not even a passing thought.
But, you had to have your anti-Apple moment... here on an Apple-oriented forum. What the hell did you expect?
Why is this so hard to understand? Why do you insist I put on my "Bill Gates Rocks!" t-shirt and went into the Mapple store with the intent to piss everyone off and make some employee feel like a jerk? Was I in a "bad mood" because of my phone...not at all....frustrated maybe, but not in a bad mood.
I never once said you did anything of the sort. For all I know you didn't get into any kind of dispute at the store, and actually it wasn't all that bad. It's the way you came here to then bring out your anti-Apple baiting. It's always easier to be insulting when you don't have to look someone in the eye.
What this says to me is, there are people on this forum that are more concerned with keeping the squeaky clean image instead of dealing with the issues.
There were like two posts that dealt with what I posted...the rest simply wanted to argue.
Again... a bit of exaggeration. Several people asked why you were using the term Mapple, and some related their own experiences, which differed from yours... so what? Are you the only one with experiences dealing with Apple?
You think I'm trying to win some kind of comedy award here...sorry, but you're mistaken.
If people want to continue arguing bout my use of Mapple and how I didn't like the service, then that's cool....we'll do that, or we could talk about what matters, like our computers...up to you folks.
If you wanted to truly discuss things that mattered, you wouldn't have maintained your insistence on using a term that clearly sidetracked people from your issues... call it a hunch, but when you start labeling people and using derisive terms, it stirs up emotions. But, clearly you understand this, and you did it anyway. You put the chip up there on your shoulder, and finally someone knocked it off. What did you expect, seriously? Some folks got it, and they expressed it. Somehow, it set you off. I suspect (as I said, it's only my opinion...) that's what you intended in the first place.
You did have relevant information, but it was kind of buried in your rant about the second genius bothering you.
Interesting stuff.
Agreed
See, but what you fail to see is that I don't care. I'm buying a computer not a group of friends.
I posted my findings based on my experience at the store, and people decided to focus on that. If you read back, I tried to get it back on topic, but people simply wanted to focus on defending Mapple and so, after realizing that this post was ruined I simply continued.
As I said... further backs up why I think you started this thread.
I'm sure many of you just think I'm here to troll or whatever...
if it's that clear to you, maybe there's something to it...
...but all I was attempting to do was share what I was seeing. The funny thing is however is that in typical fanboy ways, many of you resorted to the most cliche response you could.
Until post 34-35, most folks were pretty darn polite, if a bit befuddled by your issue (your Apple Store experience) being all that big a deal. Nonetheless, I didn't pick up on any hostility until quite a ways into the thread. After you had already laid the groundwork. Once someone gave you the excuse to go after all the rest of us "cult" members, you jumped on it.
Maybe that saying is true....the worst thing about Mapple is the users.
Too bad you're so defensive. Case closed.
