Is it just me? I'm noticing significantly better battery life on LTE/5G than wifi? Well at least I think I am. lol. Been using my iPhone at home for awhile - took it out on a work trip and battery is insane. (For the 13P/13PM).

Linked the Watch back up and I’m already down to 78% already with minimal , 40 mins screen on time. This Watch is draining my iPhone battery somehow.
i stopped pairing the watch until apple comes out with a fix. seems like 15.1 doesnt address the battery drain issue with watch neither

How do y'all know it is the watch? Does it say so in the battery usage? (curious). Does the drain happen in standby? (Genuinely curious).

Thanks for sharing. But some of the setting compromises I am not willing to commit. I find it hard to convince myself that I need to turn off some functionality that was designed to bring convenience to life in order to have sustainable battery life.

We found that out by doing a comparison. In my case, it was definitely my watch.

Not just you. I observe some battery improvement as well.

here's today usage after upgrading to iOS 15.0.2 yesterday:

similar to my previous datapoint - woke up at 8:30ish and took the phone off the MagSafe charger. I have 40% battery left after all-day usage without charging. The screen on time is about 30 mins more than previous days and the remaining battery is about 5 to 7% more.

just from testing battery consumption with and without the watch. repairing with watch as new didnt fix it neither

How much additional battery drain did you notice with the Apple Watch? How many 3rd party apps do you have? Are they native or are they using WatchKit constantly syncing to the iPhone all day?

Regardless the iPhone is in constant communication with the Apple Watch, health data, messages, email, phone calls, etc etc...There will always be some level of iPhone battery drain until they figure out a way to transmit, receive and sync data without using energy (aka never).

a fair amount to the point i noticed the drain significantly once i paired the watch as a new device. didnt have any 3rd party apps installed on the watch. i disabled health monitoring too as well. i may give the watch another go once i get used to current battery life now w/o the watch.

Did you repair the watch with a backup or starting as a new device? I started it as a new device and the battery draining issue is gone.
I had the same issue w battery life being mediocre on my 13 pro, it wouldn’t last all day and I was quite disappointed. I then restored my phone from an iCloud backup and also repaired my watch after reading this thread, but re-paired it as a new watch and not from backup. My phone battery is now what I would call really excellent, similar to my 12 pro max I had last year. I agree that pairing as a new watch may have possibly fixed my battery issue if not the phone reset.

actually you didn’t reset your phone but restored from a backup. Big difference. By restoring from a backup you brought the phone back to your current configuration (basically no difference).

So if your battery is now functioning better with the watch, it was likely connected to your re-pairing the watch as new. Nice job either way.

It could be that WatchOS 8.0.1 has made an improvement as now from 7AM to approx 11:30AM, my iPhone is on 88%. Usually I would be a little lower than this. Will see where I end up tonight battery wise.

Not looking great at all as im 49 mins screen time in today and im down to 72% battery.
Ouch. I reset all settings, unpaired apple watch and updated to 15.0.2. Slight improvement but 1.5 hrs of SOT will drain to ~70%. Often runs warm to hot. No such problems on 12PM I traded in. Going to eat the restocking fee at BB and exchange for the Max. Don't have time to keep messing with this.

But the thing is that I know that the normal iPhone 13 Pro can do good battery life, (6 hours + SOT) albeit without the Apple Watch linked. Unfortunately I don’t want the Pro Max this time around as I have found the 12 Pro Max way too big.

I don’t think the Pro Max users are noticing any noticeable hit on their battery as it has fantastic as it is.

I'm seeing the same issues as others on this thread.
My 13Pro is seeing not great battery life. Only 2-3 hours of SoT will have it at 25% from 7am to around 10pm.
This is with an Apple Watch 5 paired. As others had suggested, I tried unpairing, no change. I also tried setting up as a new watch, no change.

I have not yet tried wiping and starting from scratch for the phone. I really don't want to have to do that.

In contrast, my wife has the same phone (but 256GB instead of 512GB) and her battery life is amazing. Similar usage to mine, but last night at roughly 10pm, she had 76%. I had 25%. (She also has a Watch 5 paired.)
We came from an iPhone 11, I came from 12 Pro. Both got them on launch day. So well past the background learning/optimizing stage.

There is definitely something amiss here. I think there is an issue with iOS itself rather than the batteries. Check out the screenshot. My phone lost nearly 25% with 1 minute of SoT and "Find My" running the background for some reason. Whenever I see something like this it's always a different app running the background. Reddit, Instagram, Find my, App Store, etc.

Here's another screenshot of a typical day. An hour of that SoT was between 9-10pm.
So my phone just chews through battery at a pretty constant rate without much going on.

I’m seeing the same standby drain issues on my 13 Pro Max. Got it launch day. Battery has been consistently worse than the 12 Pro Max I traded in, and the phone gets hot when doing very little and dims the screen outside. Nearly all apps have background refresh turned off.
The battery stats show no obvious culprit. The numbers reflect the apps I use with screen on and off time, but standby drain periods show virtually no usage. I am using a watch with mask unlock. Will try re-pairing the watch.

iOS 15.0.1
2 day usage with 37% remaining. accidentally charged the phone for literally 2 seconds and removed it. however i didnt use the phone much as you can see. still satisfied with the results.

Yes it could be the re-pairing of the watch that fixed it. I have to tell you thought before I restore the phone using my backup the second time, which it did bring my phone to a similar state of settings that you mentioned, it did fix some random heating issues that I was seeing during the initial poor battery life days . I havnt had the phone heat up as much after I restored my phone despite using the same backup. Perhaps restoring the phone, and pairing my watch as new in that order fixed my issues? Not sure. It is an anecdotal experience but it greatly helped w my 13 pro, as I dreaded going back to the big size of the pro max.
