Is everyone having the same issue as the video posted? When you flip it back it goes to sleep? So, if you hold it open with the flap folded back it will go to sleep immediately?

Normally mine is fine when I flip it back. I purposely have to pull it down further to make the sleep activate.

It's really the weirdest thing. No matter how I try, i cannot replicate the sleep/wake issue when bending the cover back. My iPad goes to sleep when the cover is in the closed position. Once I open it, no matter how much I push down on it when it is folded completely back, it will remain "awake".

I am wondering if there are different builds of this case, whether one or the other would display this problem. (say for instance if the magnetic field in one, was stronger than the other.)My present case is the red one, I will be receiving the brown sometime in the next week. It'll be interesting to see if this issue manifests itself then.

Do you have 3g or WiFi model?

I'll have mine on Monday...if early enough I'll have a video review up by that night..

Edit: I'm "WilWired" ...really need to make a new account name here, but I'm too lazy.

Which color combinations will you review? I'd love to see a brown case with black iPad 2.

:eek:Regarding the sleep/wake issue that some are having with the cover, you need to watch this very interesting video- it will probably answer all our questions.

I think this demonstrates quite aptly that this problem could possibly occur with ANY magnetized device, whether it be a case, or whatever.

For anyone that asked, my Ipad is the 3G version. I think perhaps I lucked out with the position of the magnets in my particular case...... You'll understand what I mean after you see the above video.

more........ :)

Great find! I was worried about my Yoobao case and now I know why it happens.

Thanks

I was so happy to find that. I hope others see it too, that think there is a problem with their cases, whether they have the Yoobao case or not. The funny thin with my red case, is that no matter how I fold it back, push down on it from every angle, it STILL won't make it "sleep".

This got me wondering........my case is set to lock automatically with my pass code when the iPad goes to sleep. In the review video that Jay posted, I noticed that his was not set to auto-lock.

Laurenr - now that you have your Yoobao case...do you have a new setting to disable/enable the wake/hibernate feature?

Thanks!

My iPad is set to auto-lock when it goes to sleep, and when the cover is down.

I did change the settings to see if I could replicate the sleep issue when the cover is folded back, but it still didn't trigger sleep mode.

Not even sure how this is possible but I ordered from (the person that you can't mention here on this site) on Saturday at around 5:30pm EST (I'm in DC across the country). The guy is out in San Jose and must have shipped it just a few hours afterwards since it is being delivered this morning according to USPS. Less than 48 hours after ordering and Sunday's there's no mail! Pretty remarkable. I also used the 10% off coupon posted here.

Thanks Laurenr...I was just wondering if their was a way to disable the wake/sleep smart cover function. As of right now, my settings don't allow for it, but maybe the setting appears after the wake/sleep smart cover function is used at least once. I guess I can just take a magnet to the case and find out for myself...

Under general settings there is a way to disable the smart cover lock. This is what I had to do as mine would put in sleep mode with the cover open and flat on the back. I still like the case and don't miss the sleep function.

You can disable this function in your General settings. However, I think this function is only enabled/triggered in the settings panel once the iPad detects an actual smart cover. I have it on my iPad 2, whereas it does not show on Hubby's ipad settings; he does NOT have a "smart cover" type case.
(My ipad settings are on the left).

I have the smart cover right now and LOVE that when I fold it around back it'll stay in position due to the magnets.

But I've also never had the device go to sleep when doing it, and I hold it this way all the time. Weird you see that.

Hey guys, for those of you that already have the case can you help answer these two questions.

1. How tight is the case? I heard some are too tight and scuff the aluminium when removing.

2. Is this real leather? As the guy in the video posted on this thread said it smelt like plasticy leather.

Cheers!

Haven't gotten mine yet but if its like the first gen mode, which I did have, the interior is a velour so no scratching and it was genuine real leather. I've had faux leather before, this was authentic.
