Mine also arrived much earlier than expected and while it has a strong chemical smell right out of the box, the leather is softer than I was expecting.

I do have the issue where if I force it wide open and squeeze the lid against the back it will lock. But if I fold it over and let I it sit naturally it does not happen.

Another bonus is that the case and iPad fit into the STM sleeve that I bought with ease. I wanted additional padding when I put it in my backpack and the STM provides that.

I think I'm going to take some leather cleaner to it to hopefully reduce the odor and maybe even apply a light coat of conditioner on the exterior to also mask the smell.

For $40 delivered I'm pleased.

I wouldn't do that for a few days, the odor will will go away after a few days. You will just seal the glue smell in. Put a dryer sheet in the case and put it back in the bag over night

I cleaned it and left it lying flat open and will leave it like that for a day or two.

Hm... I'm really struggling with the decision whether I should buy one or whether I should wait... I planned on waiting for the iPad 2 Version of the Stilgut Scarsela Case to come out since it's the leather case of the highest quality I found so far ( http://ii.alatest.com/product/600x4...nac-H-lle-Case-Etui-aus-echtem-Leder-Et-0.jpg ).
Still, the Yoobao is very tempting... but I'm really not sure about the quality. For once, I love the smell of leather and secondly, I'm definitely looking for a long term solution and don't want the case to wear out pretty soon... :-/

The most striking problem for me is that, living in Germany, I can get the Yoobao only from eBay - which claims that it's shipping from Hong Kong. If I buy it and I don't like it, it's almost a certainty that I won't get my money back. Alas the case isn't in the german Amazon-store.

The Scarsela on the other hand is made in Germany... waiting for the save choice or just going for it, I really can't decide... :-(
I think the quality of the Yoobao case is outstanding. My last case is a year old, and still looks fantastic. The leather on the ipad 2 case seems even better.
There is a site that provides free international shipping; they seem to be pretty reliable and respond quickly to emails. See here, they also have it in brown and black:

http://www.obostore.com/red-yoobao-slim-cow-leather-case-skin-for-apple-ipad-2-p-826-c-119.html

The yoobao case has a far slimmer profile than the Scarsela. It depends on one's individual taste. Also, the yoobao covers and protects all 4 corners; I worry when they are unprotected.

Tore the package open, fit and finish was top notch as expected. Best part is how slim it fits, nice a snug.

Only tiny gripe, it does appear the device will go into sleep mode when you fold the cover back.

I'll need to decide if I can live with the quirk vs the value of having it turn on/off when I want.

Cant decide no for either black or red :S for my black ipad

Anyone got any pics of red with black ipad in?

This is a nice case, however I have two gripes:

1. I am experiencing the sleep troubles mentioned already in this thread. It doesn't always lock when closed, and depending on where the cover sits behind the iPad, my screen does lock unintentionally.

2. My headphone port doesn't completely line up. The jack just isn't centered. I'm hoping the case needs some time to sit and it will settle into place.

Still, despite the issues, I think it's the best iPad 2 case on the market today.

Anyone else having trouble with the magnets? I just put my iPad into the case and the magnets do not hold the cover shut at all, is this normal? Also, for the magnets to turn the device off/on, I have to really push the cover... Is this normal for the case, just curious...

Also on the shallnotbenamed site, is there a postage charge or is it free? As im from UK, im trying to work out if its cheaper from that US site or the HK site. Plus do they accept paypal (the US site)?

Magnets were designed for sleep/wake only not to keep it closed.

But from this video, it looks like the Yoobao case is keeping the lid shut.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyHUK4CRNAk

I really hope that the lid can be kept shut by the iPad 2 magnets. If it doesn't hold it shut, would it be hard to mod the case so that it can be kept shut while closed?

First impression -got my black one today.
Smell and chemicals radiating on the thing. I know it's been mentioned. You get leather partly for the leather smell, feel, texture, so why make leather smell and feel like the most toxic plastic? I coulda bought a million plastic covers that smelled better and didn't leach out something toxic on your hand.

Case fits well overall. but the front flap does not have enough structure for me, it does not hold shut, (was not designed to I guess), and it leaves a 1/4" or more gap on the magnet end that only activates the lock/unlock if I push the flap flat to that edge. The hinge may stretch out with wear and allow a better lineup on the magnet edge.
the Apple smart cover feels more secure and in place than this loose flap. hmm. I'm gonna take the ipad out and crease the hinge, maybe it's stiffness is keeping it from reaching the far edge when closed.
oh, and the white stitching is ok, it does not stand out near as much as in photos.

So the smell, and toxic chemicals on it, and the flimsy flap detract for me. I guess for $40 it's passable (closer to $50 shipped), but they've taken away the lure of leather. Add this $50 to the $75 for the smart cover and you're not that far away from the high priced Vaja real leather at $160.
I'm gonna get the leather cleaner from the car and try to remove whatever is on this thing. Any reasonable cow would look at this and say, "I see nothing offensive here". Surely they have real leathery cows in China. jusayn.

The smell went away from mine really fast, just left it out all day and it went away on its own...pretty standard for these Yoobao type cases. I'm extremely happy with this case

That is just too bizarre! I just checked my clipboard, and I did post the links correctly......perhaps because he is supposedly "out of favor" around here, they were blocked.
Try "*******dotcom" - I am sure you can interpret the correct format.;)

I don't really understand it, because everyone seems to receive great service from him....

Edit: looks like it got blanked again, so sorry!

It has nothing to do with his service or how good of a seller he is. It has everything to do with breaking MacRumors forum rules.

it's too bad the magnets do not work, got my red today, and while I. can not comprehend why they would design it this way they truly did. very poor compared to their other cases where lid stayed shut without a problem and with magnets, they probably rushed this out, no padding at
all, probably will return.

The magnets were designed to trigger the sleep/wake function, not to keep the lid shut. The slim profile is what attracts most people to this case, especially with the slimmer form factor of the iPad 2. This would be lost entirely with superfluous padding, but perhaps if your device is used in a more rigorous environment, you would need a heavier case.

They could of made the magnets a little stronger to hold the cover down... It wouldn't have been that hard. The cover is very flimsy.

Flap behind sleep issue

After playing with the case for awhile tonight I think i've figured out what causes the flap to sleep the iPad. If you leave about 3/8th of an inch exposed when folding the flap back the sleep function will not trigger. It's only if you fold the flap back not leaving any slack is when the magnet is far enough to trigger. This kinda of explains what others have described by pulling on the flap. At least this is my experience with the case I got. Btw I've typed this whole paragraph with the flap underneath the case on the couch with out having any unwanted sleep issues. Hope this helps.

Just got my brown Yoobao from ******* (<--- why does this show as a swear word on this forum?). It is amazing. Perfect color and fit. Very slim, and exactly what I was looking for in a case. I ordered Friday afternoon and he got it too my door Monday.

I am experiencing the sleep/wake issue when completely open. I turned off the feature and am totally happy.

The case smells pretty strong out of the box. I'm letting it air with a window open for a few hours.

Just got my red one and it stinks! Left it outside for about 4 hours and it is better but not great. It is spending the night in the garage! Haven't tried on my iPad as I don't want this awful smell in the house. Could it be red dye?

Dude the smell isn't gonna smell up your house... Unless you live in a boyscout tent.

Ok here are some pictures of the brown version with my iPhone 4. I love how slim it is.

Hey guys, I bought a black skin for the back of my iPad 2

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320670120634&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I haven't receive the skin yet, so I don't know how much bulk it would add to my iPad 2. I heard that the yoobao case fits the iPad 2 very very tight so I wonder if I would have to remove my leather skin so it would fit.

Anyways I order the Yoobao today and got the an e-mail within an hour confirming that the item has been shipped. Since, I'm from Montreal, I hope that I could get the case by the end of the week or early next week.

Yes. They confirmed my cancellation and I reordered from the other seller.

I did the same thing. It took 4 days for AYL to cancel my order.

I got my shipping notice from him within about 10 minutes, too. Excited to get the cover.

^^^ I ordered mine at 9:33 PM and got an email notification saying it shipped within 30 minutes, I was very impressed, especially with it being so late.

Also, my tracking number isn't working, but that seems to be USPS's fault for sucking.

And I liked the Harry Potter reference earlier with someone saying they ordered from he who must not be named, even if the reference was by accident :D

I have that same skin installed on my iPad 2. It adds virtually no bulk at all to the iPad.
