anyone from the UK order one of these from ebay via the US?

What was the story with customs, do they phone / send you a letter when it arrives or do you have to phone them youreslf to find out where it is?

Can someone put the Slim and the Magic on some scales and see how much they weigh? I'm wondering if the Slim is substantially lighter than the magic.

Thanks!

I've got a little used Magic/v3 case in great condition that will be up for grabs soon (just ordered a Portenzo). If anyone in the UK wants it, drop me a PM, I'll cut you a deal. :)

hmm I've read alot of reviews of these products for the past hour or so and after debating wether or not to buy an ipad now or wait till ipad 2 i've decied to go ahead and buy one now (hopefully retain a good chunk of resale for early next year) and these cases look to be pretty well received.

i've come down to either the magic (new leather version) or the slim

can anyone chime in and help me figure out if with the slim when the cover is folded back if its 100% flat, unlike the magic which gets about 90-95% flat

also is the magic leather version different? and does it fold 100% flat backwards?

sorry for the stupid questions I just feel like that may be an issue

I also kind of like how the ipad is held in on the slim rather than the magic....hmmm decisions decisions

I have tried both the magic (older version) and the slim. For me the design of the slim just works. I really like the full open bezel but my absolute favorite feature of the slim case is the strap and tab. I use the typing mode a lot and love the secure position due to the strap. Seriously it doesn't slip or move no matter how I hold it. I have it in both the black and brown. I would say the slim folds about 95% flat when folding the front cover backwards.

I have both the Yoobao slim and magic cases, and the cover does not fold totally flat under either one. You can mash the cover almost flat against the back, but it's not comfortable to do that for long. That's the reason I bought the slim case- I was hoping the back would fold flatter than the magic case, but it doesn't. I use my iPad a lot for reading iBooks, and that is my biggest complaint with both cases. They just aren't comfortable to hold in the hand (especially the left hand) for long- at least not for me. Also, if you plan on taking your iPad out of the slim case very often, it's pretty difficult, because the corner clips are REALLY tight- just a heads-up. I have ordered a PDAir leather folio book-style case from cases.com that I hope will prove comfortable enough to hold for reading.

As someone who has both the Yoobao Magic and the Slim, I am happy to say that I finally settled on this case...

http://www.handhelditems.com/luxury-convertible-carbon-flip-case-ipad-black-free-screen-protector-p-140778.html

The finish is SO much nicer than the Yoobao...the carbon fiber look exterior is far more sophisticated looking than the cheap-looking Yoobao.

Previously, I preferred the Yoobao Magic, but no longer...plus the company above is a real pleasure to deal with, as opposed to being stuck in the middle of the "YOOBAO EBAY SELLERS WAR" and all the personalities.

HIGHLY recommended.

Just got the slim case, which I love. But, how the heck do you get the iPad out of the case?

It's incredibly difficult the first time. Brace the back against your knee and push down on one corner with the tips of your fingers with enough force that you can flex the back of the case. Then do another corner, and you'll be able to slide it out.

Subsequent attempts were much easier for me, I can get it off within 5 seconds now.

Thank you. Worked like a charm.

Does anyone know when the new version (hybrid slim/magic) of the yoobao will come out? I'm holding out for this version.

Hey guys quick question about the Yooboa Magic case:

I just watched the review on youtube, and I am almost sold! I just have 2 concerns:

1- It looks like that 'clip' that holds it shut could easily scratch the iPad. Is this so? Or is it just the way the video makes it seem?

2- I realize that the front cover doesn't fold back 100%, instead only 90-95%, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around exactly how much it doesn't wrap. For example, if I am sitting on the train, heading to school, and I just want to flip the cover around so I'm holding my ipad and surfing the web/reading a book, can I do so? Or does that front cover make it tough to hold with one hand?

Thanks for any/all help!

1) The clasp on my magic case was pretty hard to latch, and I was afraid of the same thing, but it didn't damage it. But it was hard to latch and then unlatch.

2) I guess it depends on how large your hands are. My hands are fairly small, and it's uncomfortable to hold it for long in my left hand for reading. There's a photo in this thread somewhere that shows the cover folded under the iPad. The design causes the left side of the cover to be at an angle, not flat, when folded under, which doesn't give me any real "grip," and my hand will start aching after a while. If your hands are larger, that might not be as much of a problem.

Thanks for the replies! I have some follow-up questions (=

1- Is the clasp something that will break in, over time? Or is it something that is tough to deal with, and always will be? Is there any fear of breaking it?

2- I guess I'll just have to try it out and see what happens, although my hands are significantly larger than most.

My slim case arrived, not stopped by customs \o/

First impressions

1) I like the fake leather
2) I am not too fond of the white stitching
3) The logo is not so bad
4) It doesnt fold flat, but not a big issue
5) Ipad fits nice and snug
6) i like the clasp which the official case didnt have
7) I like not having sharp edges like the official case

noticed mine was shipped by kevin, hehe.

White stitching is easily rectified, just use black shoe polish and buff out. Will look like it came black from the factory.

Curious, has it been verified this is actually PU leather? It definitely has the leather smell (which might be there w/ PU but muted) and I'm not seeing a repetition in the pattern which would suggest embossing, but I'm certainly no expert. I have a Vaja on the way and if I stick with that I might go ahead and perform an experiment on the slim :D

All right, just put my iPad into the Yoobao Slim (was using the Apple case before) and my first impressions:

  • Leather is nice, not rubbery. The contrast stitching is attractive. Overall build quality is very good.
  • Leather is a little slippery especially when you have been used to the Apple case, so less grip.
  • iPad snaps right in, no significant effort needed (have not tried to take it out yet).
  • Except for the four corners, the top, bottom and right sides of the iPad are exposed. Say what you will about the Apple case, it does encase the iPad quite well in comparison.
  • The Yoobao dimensions are almost a direct match of the ipad save for the closure flap and of course a little thicker because of the leather and padding. The Apple case of course is a tad bit wider on all sides due to the lip border design of the case.
  • As others have indicated, positioning the flap to keep the cover open for standing or tilting is a bit of a chore at this time due to the case being new.

Overall, I really like this case. It does not add any significant bulk to the iPad, conforms to it very well and very classy looking. The Yoobao monogram is subtle and not very noticeable (I got the black one). So far I have to say this one is a keeper.

btw, its definitely PU leather. (which is NOT fake leather).

Co-worker of mine spent the better part of 50 yrs in the leather industry, he's certain its PU leather.
