Essentially you fill in all your order and payment details etc now so on Friday you can just log in and hit "Confirm" on that order. They've done this for a few years now, and it means if you are going down the trade in or finance route you can get those approved up front so you don't have to try and enter all that information while the Apple web site is creaking under the strain.
but it requires payment validation (1600 euros for me) from my bank.

and I can already prefill everything without "get ready" cant I ?

does it make a difference as far as shipping and receiving the device on day 1?
nah I don’t think so. pretty sure as long as I order around 8am when they go live I’ll still be able to have it delivered or be able to pick it up on launch weekend.

even though it’s carrier financing, I’m doing it through Apple which is nice. I could do it through Verizon with the same result most likely, but rather Apple.

Basically, you can make your phone selections now and breeze through the checkout process and increase your chances of getting it day 1. If you don’t “get ready” you’ll have to do the whole selection process from the beginning which may or may not guarantee you day 1 depending on how long you take to submit your order.
what is the difference with putting it in your favorites/basket though ?
"
and I still need manual validation on preorder day, even with "get ready", correct ?

Every iPhone got heavier again.

This is not acceptable at all and is a no go.

Even the self-proclaimed iPhone Air has almost the same weight as iPhone 16 and is only 2mm thinner, which is an absolute no go for a product called "Air".

No Mini.

No Black Pro.

Ugliest Pro ever without true redesign since iPhone 11.

No AI Siri.

Apple stocks going down.

Good bye Apple after 22 years of endless iPhones, iPods, MacBooks Pro, iPads, Watches, TVs, iMacs, HomePods etc.

Stop being dramatic, it’s not a good look.

The stock isn’t going down it’s basically flat.

Could not agree more. Look how thick that Max is. Why mess with color offering which for decades worked for many. This is really sad. Fluffy presentations which costs millions, useless claims...this is Cook's decline which started with Vision Pro. Looks like he is better bending his spine front of Orange then focusing on keeping Apple afloat. I guess I am a bit relieved that Max is not from gold with Trump signature at the back. I wanted too upgrade from my 13 Max . . I guess might opt for small sensor camera instead.

Excited to order new iPhone. Planning on getting the 17 Pro Max in Orange. Might even get the base model as a backup. My mum is also planning to get the base 17 in either 'Sage' or 'Mist Blue'. Sure about the orange color but for the base model, won't be pre-ordering. Will go to a store on launch day snd see the colors before deciding.
A backup for what? wouldn't it make sense to just add applecare+ theft and loss to the pro model?

It's a handheld mobile device.

Weight and size are top priorities.
There is nothing to discuss here.

It's a handheld mobile device with a disposable battery. Within 2 years you have around 80% of battery health if you charge every day. This can be extended to 4 years when charging every 2 days. Battery > weight. Every. Single. Time.

Only if you could easily (without expensive tools) could replace the battery yourself then you'd have a point. But that's (sadly) not the case.

Decision time. I have a 12MP which I’ve been happy with. Changed the battery 3 months ago and really pleased with the result. Was thinking this was the year to upgrade. Only thing is… I like white or black iPhones, colour alternatives for 17 Pm aren’t compelling to me. Orange one looks nice but not my cup of tea. The one other thing that distracts me is that although the phone has a redesigned camera outlay, it didn’t give me any great reason to want to upgrade either. Sure, colossal battery, better camera, faster charging time and more. The fact I’m feeling indecisive (gut feeling) is telling. Just didn’t feel the wow factor like ’oh my, have to get one!’ So I will have to think about it.

Can you convince me to upgrade?

With colours that don’t do anything for me, untested modem and Wi-Fi module (never buy version one of a new product and a lot internally has changed) and I still like my 16 Pro so I'm doing the sensible thing and not upgrading this year. Also the camera bump is just to big for my liking, I'll wait till next year for a C2 modem and see what they do, hopefully black might appear again as a option. The orange one looks like a Christmas decoration to me, silver is bland and blue, yep that sealed the no deal for me.

Thought about upgrading my 16 Pro Max for about 30 seconds - nothing to see here move on - trade in offer was not worth it either!
