I'm new to jailbreaking but I did manage to get tiny umbrella downloaded the other day And my blobs saved locally and used the cydia option. I did this just in case I do decide to jb in the future. My question is did I just need to send to cydia? Or to apple and cydia? By sending it just to cydia does that hurt me in the future should I not decide to jb? Thanks

You don't send anything anywhere. You get it. The options are getting it directly from Apple or getting it from Apple via Cydia. Both options save your SHSH locally; the Cydia option has the added benefit of backing your SHSH up on saurik's Cydia server, too.
You can still get your SHSH blobs for iPad 3.2 and 3.2.1 But you cannot get iPhone 4 4.0 ones. Its over

I had 3.1.3 SHSH's on file at Cydia. I upgraded to 4.0 when it came out, thereby losing the jailbreak.
I upgraded to 4.01, which I promptly wanted to remove due to horrid signal reporting. (I swear I could emulate the iPhone 4 deathgrip on my 3GS)
When downgrading to 3.1.3, I launched cydia and it said I had SHSH's on file for 3.1.3 and 4.0!!
Needless to say, I promptly downloaded the 4.0 firmware and upgraded back. All is good now, but how the heck did the 4.0 SHSH's get there if I was only jailbroken in 3.1.3?

This what Cydia automatically does. It will save the blobs for every firmware version from now on. 4.0.1 will be there soon as well.
That's quite amazing. I originally thought I would be stuck at 3.1.3 until a 4.0 jailbreak came out, because I sure as hell wasn't going back to 4.01.

So I sold my problematic activation iphone 4 and got myself a nice activated iPhone 4. I just turned on Umbrella and tried to save my 4.0.1 SHSH file but it was too late. This sucks! Now if something goes wrong. Im forced to download latest FW which I hope Dev team should have JB by the time 4.1 comes. This sucks!
What are you talking about? You can save the SHSH blobs for 4.0.1. Why do you think you failed?
Offcourse you can save your 4.0.1 SHSH.
Make sure you got the latest version of umbrella.

4.0.1 is still the latest firmware out and you can pull and save your SHSH's for that at any time untill the next firmware is out.
You wont be able to save shshs for 4.0 though
Crap didnt know I had the old version of Umbrella. I upgraded to 4.0.1 FW and I was able to save my SHSH file successfully. Thanks for the heads up everyone. Now, I can rest and enjoy my beer!
