I get it, a lot go case-less, just saying why design is less important to me. So the no case folks are more into making a statement of some sort, fashion, prestige, coolness or some other. For the rest of us when the internals get closer to being worth a grand or better we'll maybe step up.
I don't go caseless to make a statement. Yes, I'm happy to own an iPhone, but that isn't the reason.

We (my wife and I) live with our devices for 2 to 3.5 years. We don't upgrade yearly and, at least in my case, since I use my device all the time I don't want to hate how it looks. Now, my 6s+ is fugly and I don't care for the camera bump and antenna lines but I happen to have it this time around due to circumstances in late 2015, not because I wanted it for it's looks.

But looks are the reason I didn't buy the 7 and if the 8 doesn't change design I won't get that one either. I already have fugly so I'm not going to put out for more of the same.

My wife is different. She doesn't care how her device looks, although she is particular about the kinds of cases she likes. Yes, my wife uses cases and I do not.

Somehow we manage to get along. :)

I wouldn't feel cheated if they released it 1 month after I purchased my phone. In fact I wish that they would update there phones more than once a year.

I did feel like I would have been cheated buying the seven, which is why I didn't buy it. First iphone (discounting the 5C) that I have never owned, and I do not regret that decision for a second. But, my problem is not what may be, but what came before it. It's faster (on paper) has a better camera (on paper), and in practice, it's stillbasically just a 6s (and yeah, my wife opted for the 7 and was disappointed as well). To ech their own.

Despite many using their ip7/+ without incident, I have the deep feeling that there are still some problems with this phone and frankly, I'm surprised that Apple hasn't squashed all the bugs and weird issues.

Part of me is glad to just wait it out till next year.

Problems like?

Nothing I can be concrete about and point my finger to...just grumblings and misc threads here and there, scattered about.

I remember a few when iOS 10.x came out, but that was across more than one generation of iPhones so that wouldn't count of course.

I have a 6s and 7. To me there was enough of a difference. I haven't yet done a Apples to Apples camera comparison but I will get to it. Love the Taptic home button; already went Bluetooth. As you said to each their own.

Apple should definitely fix these problems you reference.

I've been a loyal Thinkpad customer for many years.

Still rocking several X200, X200s, and X201...the 16:10 aspect ratio on them was great! My X31 still works...traveled everywhere with it. And the X61, the last of the 4:3 models, is pulling secondary duties. Some T-series love also.

Haven't test drove the recent models though...remember being bummed when Lenovo went w/soldered RAM and weird max RAM configurations in the later years.

I've had the X61 and X200s, currently using the x230 as my primary. I think of it as the last in the line of classic Thinkpad designs and it's perfect for running Linux distros since they're fully compatible out the box.

This isn't the first time an earth shaking upgrade induced many to upgrade after only one year. My first iPhone was the 3GS when the iPhone 4 came out it was so dramatic a design improvement I felt I had to have one.

Maybe don't buy the most expensive model when there were already rumors of next year's iPhone being a major upgrade? Seriously, we knew about the iPhone 8 or iPhone X coming out before the 7 was even announced.

I always buy my phones outright, they are not my primary computing device, but I still use them a lot. When a new iPhone comes out I buy it and then sell my old for half what I paid. As others have said a new iPhone comes out every year, this is nothing new.

The iPhone 8 being a complete design has been in the rumour mill for at least 12 months now. It's been covered to death on here already.
The point of the thread is was in response to Last Weeks Fake News Fake Outrage Over Headlines about the $1,000 Price of the Totally new IPhone 8 or IPhone Pro (which is my bet for a name) to contrast the reality the IPhone 7 Plus 256GB already costs $1,000 and no one batted an eye.

That said never has there been such a Huge leap from year to year. People who bought an iPhone 7 Plus are really gonna be upset.

We dont really know much and all the fake news for now is just speculation.
The largest capacity current plus model is $1000 but we dont know if that $1000 price mentioned for the next iphone will be for the plus model and for what amount of storage capacity.
So without much to go on its all a guess for now.

I Think sometimes it comes down to others appreciate smaller features and others expect larger features with iPhone upgrades. If you are one that expects an iPhone or phone in that matter to have major upgrades every year, then you're going to be disappointed every year. Phones traditionally move in incremental movements. The iPhone 7 had a lot of smaller variations that changed over the 6s that made a huge difference to me, when others are not content with the newer features.

And the other part of the problem I think, is sometimes you have too many people believing into hyped rumors and they don't end up being true, which they wanted to be true, then some end up disappointed when the phone debuts.

These are more like Educated guesses based on tipsters and leaks and logic. What Apple will very like release are new iPhone 7s models 4.7" new iPhone 7s Plus models and ALL new 10th Anniversary Edition iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro whatever the final name becomes. And the most expensive highest capacity Version only might be $1,000

Saying these are out of the air guesses isn't genuine. But they are hypothesized to some degree.

Interesting.
So the highest capacity and plus version will be $1000?
Because right now that's pretty much the case.
Unless they mean the smallest capacity regular/smaller version will go up to $1000 from $650 currently?
That would be a huge jump but I doubt that's the case.
Most likely the best version with all bells and whistles and biggest screen will go that high. And that's not far fetched or that expensive considering what you're getting IMO.

So lately I've seen a lot of Fake News and manufactured outrage about the iPhone 8 Pro and it's 5.8" OLED display model costing $1,000 well, how much do you guys think a 256GB iPhone 7 Plus currently costs ?

$969 Plus Tax and Activation folks.

And it's a far superior device the iPhone 7 Plus will go down as having lived just 11 months before a whole new Generation replaced it. What a waste of dough.

Anyone else feel cheated ?

You are not serious are you??

I've compared the 6s plus to the 7 camera. I didn't do anything super scientific. I just snapped pics like I would with each phone in the same condition. I couldn't tell the difference.

The way I figure it, a difference is only relevant if I can tell that difference. For those who are able to snap superior pics by what is apparently a superior camera, my hat's off to them. The way I see it, my wife's 7 was just a waste of money. She downgraded storage (since her 6s was 128gb due to a free storage promo tmobile was running) and otherwise the phone feels exactly the same.

Anyway, I was responding to the notion that Apple is ripping people off. You only get ripped off if you allow yourself to (barring something weird like and issue with hardware that Apple refuses to address; this is a theoretical and not s reference to anything in particular, nor is it something one can count on), or if you're simply not knowledgeable about what you're buying. Even then, you're probably not concerned about snot specs and therefore it's not relevant.

I guess my point is, if you're on this forum comparing specs and features, you kind of knew exactly what you were getting into buying the 7, so I can't see how anyone feels ripped off, particularly regarding a future product that we know nothing about.

I will say I will no longer hold out hope for surprises. We pretty much know exactly what we are getting many weeks to months ahead of time nowadays. I remember discussing with you that Apple may have something up their sleeves. They sure didn't, and haven't fornyears.

I was outraged by the price of the 7, in fact I didn't buy it because the price jump in the UK was £200. We pay £1000 for iPhones here which is nearly £200 more than you guys for exactly the same product. I know a few people who skipped it due to the increase, Apple is cashing in. You wait until you are paying $1200 for the iPhone, you'll be on par.
