but. arrrggghh!! lol

iv converted the mp3 to .aif in itunes and edited in the info to just play 3 secs of it (for eg)
now i can hear the clip in windows, but when i move it to \System\Library\Audio\UISounds its makes no sound. all six of them sounds like Tri-Tone

what im i missing?

does the sample rate/size need to be dif?

Yes, an aiff file renamed to a .caf file. (sms-received 1-6.caf)

You need to convert your Source file (mp3 on this case) to .aiff (using Itunes or any converter) and them manually change the extension to .caf, them move it to the iPhone

finally!!!

figured a way to do it
i have ToneFXs installed and found this folder; /var/mobile/Media/Efiko/SoundEffects
all i had to do was save the .caf files there and hey presto :)

i cant change tones using the default settings, i have to use tonfxs but no big deal really :)



oh, and the tones im using are from The Inbetweeners :D
"bus wankers"
"bumder"
"feisty one you are"
"business"
 
I have a "Stinky Fart" that I recorded which I use from time to time for my SMS or Ringtone. You should see the looks I get at the bars when my phone blows up :)
 
In honor of the upcoming release of the 25th Anniversary Back To The Future Blu-Ray set, I wanted to share my SMS Tone. Its the sound heard at the begining of the three movies. Kind of hard to explain so i have included the mp3 for you guys to hear before you download. Once you hear it you will know what i'm talking about. Just a little something different.

Working on some Delorean sounds aswell.

Nice one! I'm still using the new Xbox 360's "powering on" sound but this is a nice option.
 
being a star craft 2 fan i had mine as "incoming transmission" from the terran adjunctant.
 
Here's a couple I've found. One his from the android sound files, another is a guitar stroke, and another is the Mario one up sound. Post any of yours!

When choosing text message tones I usually prefer something short and unobtrusive. I like the mario sounds...but I've found they annoy some! Their loss. hahah

epic, you just created a text tone from my favorite movie of all time. if you make the sound made when the delorean door is opened i will bow down to you. can anyone upload the old spice whistle tone? i dont use winterboard :)

Mine is the first 2 seconds of "The Upsetter" by Jack Johnson (might have to open using quicktime)
