For me it's EA NHL 10, just unbelievable how great the controls are. But, I haven't played any of the recent games yet, like CoD: MW 2 or Uncharted 2, or that Batman game.

X360
MW2
(Gotta give RE5 credit, was great!)
Wii
NSMB

DS
Actually can't say...I've bought much for it(recently)..I'm sure there are some

PSP
Little Big Planet

PS3
From what I hear uncharted 2, but I never bought it

a little early but...

I just got it on Friday, but Final Fantasy XIII. My first RPG this generation. I really like the battle system. The demo didn't even scratch the surface. The only other game I've logged a lot of hours into this year is BlazBlue. Haven't even touched my copy Muramasa (or Grimgrimoire) and I'm already eyeing a copy of Princess Crown. Pixel Junk Shooter is also on my pile of shame which is getting pretty tall.

I hope I'm not forgetting something -

PS3 - Uncharted 2 - never played this but have heard nothing but great things.
Runners up - COD: MW2 , Borderlands

Xbox 360 - COD: MW2 - I played this on PC, since I'll always choose a M/KB for shooters, but the 360 controller is my second choice. Epic game.
Runner up - Borderlands

Wii - New Super Mario Bros. Wii - this game was pure fun from beginning to end. Mario is still the only franchise that will get a guaranteed buy and 100% completion from me.
Runner up - Tiger Woods Golf 10 - great with the motion plus addition, philandering minigame unfortunately not included.

PC - Left 4 Dead 2 - L4D was a game that reignited my interest in PC gaming, the way that Counterstrike:Source, and before that, Diablo II did. The second installment is (luckily) very similar, with a few important improvements.
Runner up - Borderlands, Call of Duty: World at War (I can't tell you how many hours my friends and I logged playing the built in / user created levels of Nazi Zombies. This also gets credit for not being a nearly unplayable port like MW2 is.)

Top 5 games of the year:
1. Left 4 Dead 2 (PC)
2. Borderlands (PC)
3. Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox360/PS3)
4. Uncharted 2 (PS3)
5. New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)

Hrm I might have to add Demon's Souls (PS3) to my list. I finally beat the first boss (Phalanx) and am really really enjoying it... it's a difficult game and can be pretty brutal but it feels *really* good to have beat my first boss...

Don't get me wrong, Uncharted 2 is way better, but for something new and interesting to play, Demon's Souls does it for me.

Assassin's Creed II for me.

(I also really (briefly) enjoyed the Fallout 3 DLC for PS3, but since it's unplayably unstable for me, it gets booted off this list).

Honourable mentions:
Killzone 2
InFamous

360
Winner: Assassin's Creed II
Runner Up: Left 4 Dead 2
XBL: Trials HD

PlayStation 3
Winner: Uncharted 2
Runner Up: R&C: ACiT

Wii
Winner: New Super Mario Bros
Runner Up: Punch Out

PSP
Winner: Little Big Planet
Runner Up: N/A

DS Lite
Winner: Chrono Trigger
Runner Up: N/A

iPhone
Winner: Dragon's Lair
Runner Up: Space Ace

My GOTY is Fallout 3. Though it is technically a 2008 title, I didn't start playing it until very late last year. But shortly after I started, my Xbox died and I was unable to play. So, I didn't really play the game at all until this year. And going by time spent playing, Fallout is easily my most-played. I've played through the game 4 times now, all the various DLCs, and every quest. It is a fantastic game.

But, if it has to be a game from 2009, then my GOTY is Halo 3: ODST. I'm a big Halo fan, and even though this game was not quite what a lot of people wanted, I have a lot of fun playing it. The campaign is very fun and different from previous games, and Firefight is a blast with 4 people. It was the perfect game to tide me over until Reach.

My runner-up for 2009 would be PixelJunk Shooter. This just recently came out, but it is AWESOME. I love all of the PixelJunk games, and this one is no exception. The control is fantastic, I love the art style, the music is great as always for PixelJunk games, and it is very challenging without being overly hard. It is a little short, but the probability for an "Encore" expansion is almost guaranteed. Highly recommended for PS3 owners.

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE 2 on PS3!!!!!!!

I've heard a lot of raving about that game. Heard it has a good solo component. After I played the first couple of CoDs and MoHs I kind of burned out with the genre. You know WWII, been-there-done-that. ;) Thinking about playing it.

Of the games I've played this year, overall, I'd say Dragon Age:Origins is the best. With strong performances by L4D2, GoW2, and Borderlands.

I started the whole CoD playing on XBOX 360 with Cod 4, then i played Cod World at War (old school war) and that i got sick of pretty easily. It was cool to go from regular COD 4 to world at war but then i just went back to regular.

Then i got PS3... and started playing MH2.. and i love it more then COD 4.. hands down the best game so far... I would have said Assassins creed 2 but i sorta got sick of that also. i need something with a broad multilayer platform

Well it's set around now (Modern Warfare). But I personally don't think it's that great. It's good and I've put a few hours in (which means I must be close to finishing ) but eh. The story was so disjointed, didn't add any gameplay mechanics over a standard FPS I don't get it . There were better shooters released this year.

Changing my PSP one to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. 500 hours worth of solid gameplay? Yes plox! So long as we ignore the cumbersome controls.

Soooo I have been playing Uncharted 2... New GOTY for me. ****ing outstanding in every possible way. Best voice-acting, dialogue and cinematics bar none. The shooting is amazingly improved over the first game... Sucks I'm going to beat it in 3 sittings though. Oh well, always co-op.

I'm torn between Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2, but for me, CoD wins by a hair for the awesome multi-player. Honourable mention goes to Sims 3, for wasting many hours of my time on the Mac. I love my little guys :D

Yeah, I forgot to mention the modern warfare games I've played. I should have said "War- Been there done that" ;) Actually I prefer a setting like the UT series, versus a war simulation for shooting.

PS3: Uncharted 2
360: Halo 3: ODST
Wii: New Super Mario Bros Wii
Honorable Mention: Modern Warfare 2, Killzone 2

Overall: Uncharted 2

Well I can't pick one.

But here are my most enjoyed games of 2009

Dragon Age : Origins
Borderlands
Fallout 3
Uncharted 2
Boy and his Blob

With Fallout 3, I felt like I was playing Oblivion in an ugly apocalyptic setting. Just could not get into it and I liked Oblivion. For comparison, Borderlands did that kind of environment much better.
