The iPhone 3G is probably my least favourite. Unlike most people here however I would rank the 5c as one of my favourites.

Easy, the iPhone 5C. It was just wrong on so many levels. All according to my opinion of course, no offense to those who use it and love it.

___________________________________________________

Based on my own experience from the iPhones I've owned...

I see plenty of people listing the 4/4S as their favorite iPhone, I'm on the exact opposite field. My opinion may be flawed however, as I had such bad luck with my example.

I absolutely loved my 3GS - I still remember that phone as the most breathtaking experience ever. Having only used "dumbphones" previously, and the iPod Touch, the iPhone was on a completely other level. Together with Spotify, this revolutionized many parts of how I used a phone and the things I could do with it. I remember the first time traveling to town looking for a certain shop and using the GPS. Absolutely awesome! Then there was all the fun apps! As for the design, I found it amazing. Sure, the back was plastic - but it was a great quality plastic, MUCH, MUCH better than the 5C IMHO. Those chrome bezels just oozed premium-feel. I think the chrome bezels was my favorite part of the design.

That said, I think the 3GS was my favorite iPhone. (Probably to a great extent because of the revolutionizing experience). It worked flawlessly for the two years I had it.

My least favorite iPhone was the 4S. First of all, I had expected the new iPhone at the time to have a 4.5" display and the tapered design, which we all remembered seeing cases for. I had never really liked the 4 after using it in stores, so when the 4S was released I was utterly disappointed. However, I had a free upgrade, so I decided to give it a go. Sure, the camera and screen were two great improvements at the time. Siri was fun for a few hours but I quickly grew tired of that. After a few months, when the novelty had worn off - I was left with a phone which was actually rather heavy, and most importantly - felt very, very weird in hand. While the 3GS felt awesome in the hand, the 4/4S was awful in terms of ergonomics. Those steel bands sort of cut into your palms. Also, I had plenty of battery troubles with the phone. It could drop from 20 % directly to 9 % battery. Often if I used the camera while battery was less than 20 %, the phone shut down, and I couldn't use it until it was plugged in. As soon as I plugged it in, it showed e.g. 20 % battery once again.

I never really liked the 4S, hence why it's MY least favorite iPhone.

The iPhone 5S was my third iPhone, and it was amazing. Other than the screen size, I actually preferred it over my 6. Not only did those chamfered edges look absolutely stunning, but they also greatly, greatly improved the ergonomics over the 4S I had had previously. It now felt very good in hand once again. The camera was amazing and it just worked. Touch ID was also a nice bonus, however it does work much, much better on the iPhone 6. I had the 5S in Gold and I miss that phone badly. Sometimes I wish I would've stayed with it rather than going for the 6, although this 4.7" screen is very nice.

The 6 is nice, very nice. Not in love with the design, but based on functionality it's definitely the best iPhone yet. However, I value design highly and sometimes miss the 5S.

I agree with this statement, but I think the 3G was pretty bad, it just changed the design of the 2G and added some specs. Not much of a change, but the 5C to me was more of a marketing strategy for Apple which worked successfully as I saw people upgrade from iPhone 5's to 5C's.

Aren't the 5 and 5c identical internally, seems like a pointless upgrade.

I voted for the 4 and the 6+.

The 4 is just so limited when you compare it to the 4S that was such a success. No Siri and despite it being the first CDMA iPhone in the US, it's severely limited in which carriers you can take it to. Not to mention Antenna-gate.

The 6+ is just not my style. It's such a cop-out device so that Apple could bring over people who like the Note type phones.

I suppose you could also say the original 2G was extremely limited on features compared to other smart phones (i.e. BlackBerry) available at the time and now. No copy+paste or App Store!

There's also the slate iPhone 5. Talk about a disaster with the scuffing and having to discontinue it after a year and replace it with the 5c. I say the slate only because I still have my white 5, and it's been great. Battery life is still very usable, and it runs iOS 8 with only minor hiccups.

As for the 5c, other than the fact that it replaced the 5, it's fine. A lot of my friends like the color options and the relative protection (i.e. no shattered backs) that the plastic case provides. It also has more LTE bands than the 5 and most likely corrected the button and battery issues.

Now the 4S is a great phone, but I can't tell you how many people I know who shattered the front and the back (I suppose that also applies to the 4 as well). While the glass back looks great, it doesn't hold up well for clumsy people. The aluminum backs of the 5/5s and 6/6+ are an improvement, even if they don't have that classy look. But the 4S is great in its longevity and popularity.

I can't speak for the 3G or 3GS, other than the 3GS was pretty popular if I recall. In the US though they were limited to AT&T which is probably why the 4S seems to have been more popular since it was officially available on Verizon and Sprint and could unofficially be used on T-Mobile.

That's where the 5s succeeds. It's available on all major carriers in the US. It also fixed a lot of the flaws from the 5 and added some cool features in Touch ID as well as the M7 coprocessor.

The 6 takes what is good about the 5s, puts it in a new case, and adds things like Apple Pay. I'm not a huge fan of the form factor, but it's a better option for me than the 6+. I can't wait to see what the 6s will have.

It is (unless you need the added LTE bands). Unless your 5 was seriously plagued with issues (and you couldn't or didn't get it replaced), there was no reason to get the 5c. It's the 5 in a plastic case with more LTE bands and some of the internal issues (sleep/wake button and battery) fixed. It's even more pointless now with the 5c only coming in an 8gb option. The 5s would be better.

I didn't like the iphone 3 series. I hated the plastic backs that scratched and cracked.

I didn't even bother with the 5 series. I didn't like the backs on those either.

My favorite will be the 4 series. I loved that form.

I agree.. the 3 was the only one that sucked.

The 4 and 5 were amazing though, much better crafted that the 6. Although the 6 with the nice screen and it's durability is not far behind.

I have a 6 plus and I don't feel the same excitement for the form factor that I did for the 4. I think it shows that thinner isn't always better.

3G/3GS/6/6+ - Hate the form factor.

5C - Overpriced for what it is. Should have been its current price upon release.

Didn't really like my 5s out of the 4, 5, 5s, and 6+ I've had. Switched back to it after a short stint with Android and the battery life was awful. Along with the Touch ID ring getting stuck all of the time, it was definitely my least favorite.

Majority seem to base it on design/form factor or dissing an iPhone they don't own for some reassurance. I don't get why phablets suck when most of their battery life far surpass the smaller phones.

Worst - iPhone 3G

I would base it in both build quality and performance. I would still get 5c or 6+ over a 3G based on performance. The iPhone 3G was nothing more than a plastic first gen iPhone with 3G radio slapped onto it. The most exciting part from 2008 wasn't the 3G but the App Store.

My least favorite would be the 4S. Idk but something about the 4S that I had a lot of bad luck with it. Went thru three of them with several problems each that I was never able to fully fix.

Wow. So much iPhone 5C hate.

Why, because of the COLOR? Put a case on it!

+ When most phones drop to 8GB when they hit $550, the iPhone 5C had 16GB at that price.

+ Take all the good of the iPhone 5, but then give it a sturdier body, a better front-facing camera, a bigger battery, and a "world" LTE radio with the frequencies of the iPhone 5S.

That's the iPhone 5C. An improved iPhone 5.

I've purchased four iPhone 5C phones for family members. Very good value compared to the other devices.

Except it shipped with iOS 7 and was overpriced. And you'd rather have plastic instead of the aluminum iPhone 5 build quality? Yeah ok.

I can appreciate that many people prefer aluminium to polycarbonate, but I don't understand the argument that 27¢ worth of metal exudes 'premium', while 16¢ worth of plastic is 'bargain basement'.

It's aesthetics rather than build quality. If I was given the choice of the same product at the same price, I'd take a plastic iPhone/MacBook/iMac over a metal one every day of the week.

I don't understand all the hate for the 5C. Sure, it's a plastic phone, but it's well made and it's an iPhone 5, which was a great phone. It's not like it's a performance turd like the 3G...

The iPhone 6 Plus is my least favourite simply because of the size. It doesn't affect me though because there is an excellent alternative. I think way too many people spend far too much time staring at the back of their phones reading through here lol. It's just a phone for me and the practicality far out-weighs the exterior design on first impressions. It's just a Apple are also very good at styling a product.

What is your least favorite iPhone and why? Mine would be 6/6+ series. I am not crazy about the form factor. I also don't like how iOS 8 runs on the 6 Plus.

Way too funny, cause my preferences are just the opposite of yours. I have the 6+ and it's been my absolute favorite phone as far as form factor. I like the big real estate screen. I had every series from the 3G on and have liked them all when I first got them. However, I got this phone at the launch and even now every time I grab it, I think about how much I like it - that new phone excitement is still there months later. My only complaint has been the bugginess with the iOS 8 release. Not me, I haven't had an iPhone that I really didn't like but this latest has been the best thus far.

My reason for disliking the 5C is not the phone itself. The phone is fine. My problem with the 5C was that Apple took the internals of the 5, put them in a cheaper enclosure and then made a huge glitzy presentation that tried to convince everyone that it was somehow a new phone. Moreover, they sold this "new iPhone" at the same price the 5 would have occupied with it's nicer, thinner aluminum enclosure. I actually don't mind the idea of a cheaper, plastic iPhone. There are a lot of people for whom such a device makes sense. But the 5C wasn't that phone. Apple tried all sorts of misdirection and marketing jingo to make us believe that it was somehow a completely new phone and not merely a way for Apple to increase its margins. It left a bad taste in my mouth and made me dislike the phone right from the beginning. And consumers weren't fooled for a second, as evidenced by the 5S not getting the plastic treatment this time around.

If the 5C had never come along, I would have voted for the 3G hands down. The plastic back felt cheap after the aluminum of the original iPhone. The curved back also made the phone basically unusable when placed on a table. Far and away my favorite from a design standpoint was the 4 series. I used a friend's 4 yesterday to respond to a message while she was driving and, even 5 years later, it is a damn beautiful design. But man, after using my 6+ for over a month, I can't believe how tiny that screen is!

Easily the 3G. Nothing more than a 3G radio and GPS were added to the original's specs, plus the plastic was very prone to cracking. Performance was lacking from day one and by the time iOS 4 came along, it was horribly underpowered.

The 5c on the other hand is the most under appreciated iPhone ever. The thing is extremely durable and built like a tank compared to the 3G, plus it has excellent performance with the A6 and LTE. Apple's poor marketing and color selections never allowed it to come close to reaching its true potential. Now it's left to rot with nothing more than a pitiful 8GB model available.

Honestly, I'd love to see the same form factor return with new/improved colors, A7 with TouchID and 16GB as the entry level "free on contract" iPhone this fall.
