It’s getting worse and worse, YouTube needs an app the quest 3 has a great app, this Vision Pro is looking like dead on arrival, people will buy it to play with but the returns will be huge
Sounds like you can still use YouTube through the browser though. I'm fine with that.

Yeah that’s just a 2d display, with the quest 3 it’s made for vr and when using it a cinema like display with a background comes out and even has 360 videos built in

Yep. They don't want to show the defects in their junk device.

That's cool and all, but I'm fine watching YouTube in a browser window maximized that looks like it's 20 feet tall in my living room, honestly.

Netflix should be sued. Why can't I use my account anywhere I please.

They took your advice 😘

This isn't surprising. Why would these companies spend time developing apps for a device that costs $3500 and is only expected to ship 250-450K units its first year due to supply chain issues relating to the display system? Especially with so many layoffs in tech right now. They know these same people have every Apple device already and will still use their services on those platforms.

Better to feel out how it is received and used before jumping in. Wait until the user base is large enough to justify dedicating an entire team to it.

They are literally spending time to disable their app on the device to prevent the iPad versions being used. No additional investments needed to just keep their current iPad versions on Apple Vision Pro.

They don't want the same thing that happened with the Apple Watch. Uber, Instagram, etc all made apps for the watch and nobody used them so they removed them from the App Store. It makes more sense to see if a new platform is successful enough to create an app specifically for that.

I'm intrigued, and would buy one but I just don't have the time to spend on it at the moment

Great idea, don't want to be "that guy" on the plane with one of these on...

Even the Mac can’t run proper iOS or iPad apps, when it can but no one bothers to make it, a Chromebook at £200 can install Disney plus or Netflix app for offline viewing, out £4000 macs said it would allow iPad apps but barely any have been made for it, som

This is absolutely insane and very potentially a deal breaker for me. YouTubeVR is the biggest repository for 3D and 2D VR content there is.
Yeah the quest 3 YouTube app is amazing and built for vr

Odd that YT won’t enable the iPad app on AVP. I’d think they would love the extra eyes on for ad revenue. Can YouTube be wrapped inside another app and made for AVP? I almost never go to the YT website because everything plays inside my RSS feeder app.

I get why Spotify won’t be on AVP. They hate Apple enough to screw their customers.

Or, perhaps that a company which focuses on audio programming may not want to use resources for a project where they have no dog in.

I get the term ‘killer app’ is overused but is there a company going all in on Vision Pro? Disney?

Hearing the fov is much smaller than quest 3 is bad news, it won’t feel immersive at all, you will still see the lenses and the sides

What sucks is Google has a VR version of YouTube already designed for the Meta Quest 2 and 3. Would it really be a lot of effort for them to port it over?
Once you port it, you also have to maintain it for years, which tends to be significant work with how Apple is changing stuff all the time, and having to adjust for new features and changes in the YouTube backend as well during that time. It would be a significant commitment.

Roughly 10 million Quest 2s have been sold, that’s a different order of magnitude than the Vision Pro.

Or worse, sitting in storage collecting dust, like the HoloLens or the myriad of other headsets.
