I noticed that every time I watch videos in YouTube apps my iPhone SE feels very warm like when your CPU is running at 100 %.
How can I fix this ?

Same here after installing 11.2 beta 1 on my iPhone 8 Plus. Phone getting rather warm, wonky connection, and huge battery drain. Hoping it will be solved soon with an update.

This reminds me of a previous occasion when the YouTube app was draining the battery. That was fixed with this update:

I’d hesitate to say that the current issue is the same, but the symptoms certainly sound similar.

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing a battery drain with the YouTube app.

Yeah there appears to be a bug with the CPU usage on the YouTube app. I'm on iPhone 7 running 10.3.3. For whatever reason it seems to be nearly maxing out the CPU while using the app.

The YouTube app runs relatively smoothly on my iPhone on 10.3.3, but feels like 15 FPS for all interactions on my iPad Pro on iOS 11.2b. And yeah the device gets noticeably warm as soon as you start playing a video. :-/

OK, so I just tried the Youtube app and was losing about 1% battery every 20-30s. That’s crazy.

Yeah I just checked the usage on my iPad. Youtube was responsible for 25% of my battery usage in the last 24 hrs. Thing is, I'd only been using the app for 20 minutes.

This is yet another issue I have with the weekly update model most major apps have adopted. Its an endless stream of opaque "bug fix" claims, but this tinkering under the hood feels like it introduces issues as often as it fixes them.

I know there is no such thing as perfectly bug-free software, but it seems like in the past few years we've gotten into this mentality that its ok for software experiences to feel like endless betas (or alphas, to be honest) where there is no amount of jank, slop or glitchiness that isn't simply dismissed as "hey there'll always be bugs."

This is very true. After all this so called “bug fixe” updates, there still this serious battery drain bug.

I really wish Apple didn't take out the app size in the updater. I like knowing how long I have to wait for an app to download.

It'd be good if they would actually list the actual update size as often the size that was listed there wasn't actually what ended up being downloaded due to delta updates and app slicing and all that.

The YouTube app was updated again 2hrs ago. If you could test this for the issue again, that would be nice thanks.

Yes it seems to have been solved. No heating issues, connection stable, smooth scrolling, and normal battery usage (2% for 15 minutes playback 1440p).

I didn't know there was a battery issue with the youtube app, maybe it can explain my battery issues since iOS 11 because I watch a lot of youtube videos and I never though the problem could be the youtube app itself. Thanks for the threat.

Same intermittent battery drain here on 8plus 11.2b1. I switched to Tubex. It’s working fine.

Same here, iPad Pro 9.7. When I'm watching YouTube my iPad gets REALLY warm and the battery suffers. Not only that but when you scroll around in the app, navigating to find videos, the scrolling is jittery and clunky. On top of all that, audio sync is frequently off when watching videos. None of this happens when watching videos through Safari.

There's definitely an optimization problem with this app.
