Why would one app’s availability define a device’s entire use? That’s like saying $1,000 to watch YouTube is crazy for an iPhone, or $5,000 to watch YouTube is crazy for a Mac Pro — that’s just one of the many things you can use those devices for.

You also need to factor in a YT Premium subscription. YouTube is borderline unwatchable with adverts.

I still think headsets that simulate the massive theater presentations ARE the future of viewing. Especially with everyone living in parents basements, or small apt living with 5 room-mates and your bedroom is a closet. They just need to be at the quality level where they are perceptively indistinguishable from the real deal. They also need to cost next to nothing. Be a commodity item. I absolutely they will be one day as cheap as any 55" TV today.
You want to encourage that sort of isolationist behavior?

Holy crap on a cracker, this is the best news about the Vision Pro I've gotten in over a year. I use mine all the time as a virtual display for my Macbook Pro and if I can download videos and watch them on this - that is AMAZING!

Seriously. I use this as my mini home theater and it’s weird as hell to keep bringing up the price and say it’s not worth it for one single use case. Like dude I’ve built home theaters that were more than $10,000 and they were still not as good as this

this is the only one I have an issue with in this way. the safari streaming stuff all works fine aside from Hulu being broken
Hulu, Netflix, YouTube TV all have serious issues, as do any standalone apps that are Safari app wrappers. It seems to be system wide with Safari. Apple really needs to allow Chrome, Firefox etc. on AVP.

As I mentioned, if you can blow $3500 on a 1st gen tech gadget, you can most definitely handle the CHEAP YouTube Premium.
anyone can afford it if they want to save up their money and prioritize it. I made sacrifices, sold things, and put money aside and used my tax return on it that year. Don't have to be Rich to have nice things. and it's by far my fav device and gets used every day. but all these subscriptions add up and it's the least necessary. Hulu costs me $1 a month. why Would I want to pay $14 for YouTube.

Should’ve been available at launch, but a win is a win I guess
I’m really happy it finally arrived. I will be using it. However, it’s not Apple’s responsibility to negotiate with alphabet to get them to spend the money to make an appropriate app. I’m just happy it’s finally working.

It’s amazing how much hate this product has form non-owners

I bought this “version one “ device years ago and still love it. It’s still the best piece of technology that I own.

Nobody ever complains about how much a tricked out MacBook Pro costs, or one of the top of line Apple desktops. But for some reason this Apple Vision leads to such much jealousy that the haters come out of the woodwork….

Crazier is buying a $3500 device only to realize Google hasn’t put out a YouTube app for it. I feel like Google may have intentionally held off, hoping for Apple to fail in a market they themselves struggle with.

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time that Google withheld a service from iOS in an attempt to gain leverage. Not that it did them any good because it would lead to Apple replacing their mapping app with their own native maps app.

That said, last I checked, there is no YouTube app for the Nintendo switch 2 console either, so maybe this really is just a case of Google simply not having gotten around to working on it until the very last moment.

These big companies are often the worst when it comes to supporting new iOS features,

YouTube premium is probably my most worth it subscription out of everything I have. There was a time when I scoffed at the idea of paying for YouTube premium, but I’ve literally saved thousands of hours of my life not watching ads.
