I’ve been getting their regular premium subscription for $9.99 by adding it a perk on my Verizon plan. I wonder if they’ll add basic as an option for a cheaper price.

Interesting. Might have to give that a try next time, but just renewed the yearly plan last month. I don't use it for music and rarely play music videos.

I bought AdGuard for Mac (not the extension) Lifetime License for $10. At Stack Social. It's $30 now but they release discounts now and then. I got mine during Black Friday. Totally worth it.

I do the same with the subscriptions I truly love - get the yearly plan to save money.

Considering how much Youtube I watch now that I don't have cable TV... the $140/year I pay for the full Youtube Premium is worth it to me.

I get all the premium features like background play, downloads, and no ads.

Oh and I get a music streaming service too!

It's the one subscription service I actually love.

😎

Wait, YouTube has ads? Oh right, I'm running a system-wide adblocker (Adguard) that runs at the network stack level. No browser extensions necessary. Works for all apps that use HTTP/HTTPS including Spotify.
I’ve been running pihole for years and my understanding has been that dns related blockers like pihole and adguard cannot block YouTube ads and the only way to do this is through a browser extension, which would not work on an Apple TV. Is there something I’m missing?

FINALLY!

But then they fail with the "most videos" and leaving out background/offline play.

YouTube — I like your product, but I do not like nonsense. Allow me to pay monthly to get rid of nonsense without forcing another music subscription (I already have one and will not be switching),

Well, I found ZERO mention of this supposed service when I went too possibly sign up, just the top priced one (oh, they did have a "student" version for $8/month, but I think that's the full version).

I've been waiting for a cheaper YouTube premium membership. I was really hoping it would be more like $5 or $6, but I may concede.
