Isn’t gating pip behind a paywall against apples rules? How do they keep getting away with this?
I’ve been getting their regular premium subscription for $9.99 by adding it a perk on my Verizon plan. I wonder if they’ll add basic as an option for a cheaper price.
Yes, but the whole point is that they take about 29% off the price.Does verizon seriously call something you have to pay for a "perk" ?

I do the same with the subscriptions I truly love - get the yearly plan to save money.Interesting. Might have to give that a try next time, but just renewed the yearly plan last month. I don't use it for music and rarely play music videos.
I can't believe they gate background play as a "feature"...
Disabling background play for any of these features is just so scummy.
Damn, no background play.
Exactly why I'm sticking to the $14 one I've had for 7 years.
I’ve been running pihole for years and my understanding has been that dns related blockers like pihole and adguard cannot block YouTube ads and the only way to do this is through a browser extension, which would not work on an Apple TV. Is there something I’m missing?Wait, YouTube has ads? Oh right, I'm running a system-wide adblocker (Adguard) that runs at the network stack level. No browser extensions necessary. Works for all apps that use HTTP/HTTPS including Spotify.
Which ad blockers? I had one but it stopped working. My ad blockers costs $0 a month 🤔
Adguard works just fine.
Reading the article does wonders! What is "most videos" here? I am not so willing to pay to later realize I do see ads on videos I want to watch!
