You can use Brave browser on iOS for that, watch PiP and listen in the background to videos +without ads!Can it also play audio while the phone is locked? Ironically an iPhone running iOS 9 or earlier can play YT audio in the background in Safari. They intentionally nerfed it in iOS 10. Had to download some sketchy "DolphinX" browser instead.
Dunno, but if I lived outside the US, I'd probably have a VPN by now.
YouTube acts like the Mafia. The take away a standard feature of the OS you have and make you pay for it.PiP with YouTube on Safari is quite hit-or-miss. PiP with YouTube on Chrome works every time. I have Chrome installed just for YouTube PiP.
Let's not sugarcoat it; Google tries to get people to pay for a feature but people refuse.
Thank the lord. Been going crazy trying to find the option or force it to work.Youtube support told me today its rolling out slowly and to expect it for every premium account by the end of the month.

Like oculus, they slow roll out updates. Which is maddening.Youtube support told me today its rolling out slowly and to expect it for every premium account by the end of the month.
maybe this is useful on iPad but I just don't understand on a phone why would you open a live video and do something else on that screen
Yup, starting to think this is not happening, or they ran into an issue they need to fix before they can push it out.App update for YouTube today and still not working
Or, in true Google fashion, they're just taking forever to roll it out.Yup, starting to think this is not happening, or they ran into an issue they need to fix before they can push it out.
It does because they are even restricting the premium subscribers on iOS.Google has been known to be late to implement features.. it took them awhile to do SplitView/SlideOver for Gmail.
But implementing PiP is a problem on iOS/iPadOS because it’s a feature designated for YT premium subscribers on Android.
