Why not just go back to cable at this point?
Lower quality of what? Cable has drastically reduced latency (even with YTTV's new lower-latency option) and less picture compression (yes, even with YTTV's latest "enhanced 1080p" gimmick). Let's not forget that the cable box comes with the good old fashioned remote with number pad.lower quality
There are still very few (and region limited) cable options for less than 83/month
I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not.But it's not just $83/mo - I need internet to drive it.
I recorded the initial conversation when I signed up, where the customer service rep told me that I would be locked in at the $35 per month rate for life since I was an early adopter. When they tried to raise my price the first time, I played the recording to management, which had the employee's name an employer identification number on it and that was that. They did something to my account at that time which eliminates me from all price hikes. Always, and I mean always record every customer service related conversation you ever have when money/pricing is involved. How did you manage the keep the $35 rate? I had the same promo and the gave me a BS story that the promo was a $15 discount from $50 to $35, and not a set $35 rate (which I know it was). Then when prices went up, so did my rate. But kept a measly discount of $15 for the run of it. Now my package is $109!!!!

You're technically right. But I'd be willing to bet most people complaining about the price hike have internet as well (and will whether they're on cable or not)... that's a given "utility" IMO. Maybe not for everybody, but for most.
I ended my post for clarity, but obviously using cable service implies having the internet service included. I can't get cable service for $83/mo, but that's not the real number you'd be using for comparison.
Thanks. If you go through the cancellation dialogue, you'll be able to keep the current $72.99/mo rate for another six months.
still worth it IMO, if you're a news and sports junkie.
and it's still better than cable.
YouTube TV picture quality is worse. It’s so bad.lower quality
Get a Tablo! That's what I do. One antenna up in the attic connected to this device. Then I stream the OTA channels to the rest of my TVs. You can also pause, replay, and record. Depending on the model, you can watch/record two or four channels at once. It's pretty neat.I subscribe to an HD antenna. Who knew there was better picture quality for free. Sure, you have to tune in at the right time but thats alright.
I've had YTTV since it was $35/month. Each time they raise the price I look at alternatives. Unfortunately nothing is close to it in DVR or interface. While it is often aggravating when trying to switch back and forth between channels, the others I've tried are worse! All I watch is the news and an occasional Saturday Night Live. Hardly worth $83 a month for that. I’m going to look into sling TV or watching CNN from within the Max app.
Thanks, I did as well. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but when I stated $83/mo, I was referring only to TV, not including internet. It's not uncommon now for cable providers to provide standalone cable or satellite TV service without requiring a TV+Internet bundle, and that's what I'm seeing right now costwise.
Interesting - I didn’t get that option. Wonder if that means there were more cancellations than they expected and I was too quick on the gun to cancel. If you go through the cancellation dialogue, you'll be able to keep the current $72.99/mo rate for another six months.
