Is this different to the YouTube app on Apple TV? I dont think we have YouTube TV in Australia.
I'm using it in Poland but you get American content and tv channels. It's a bit tricky to set it out outside USA, you cannot watch on mobile devices just Apple TV and laptops. Google is unfortunately managed by similar incompetent managers like HBO and you see what is the result of HBO Max, so it never expand to Europe not to mention some big country on other side of the world where people walking on hands ^^ This is even more annoying considering fact that American broadcast companies are operating in Europe. Google has not enough money to build CDN network outside USA, it sounds funny but it's true. :(

It's funny tough the only countries who get still HBO content without Discovery+ crap are those when Sky made the deal.

Seems like I am having playback issues with YouTube TV on my Apple TV now. It works on my iPad. Anyone else experiencing the same thing now?

Is anyone else having that issue with YouTube on the Apple TV now where every time you go in and out the TV kind-of reloads and the Dolby Vision logo on the right. It's done with Netflix in the past but now going in and out of YouTube videos is so painfully slow because of it. I have an OLED LG TV

Yes, I’ve been having problems for a couple weeks. The screen goes dark and the sound drops for a few seconds switching between ads and content.

Yes, I’m having the same issue. Tried on two different Apple TVs so far. I get nothing for a while then an “error licensing this video”. Works fine on my iPhone and through the Roku TV app.

The service looks down. Also, they announced this hard last year, took them a year to get it out. Better late than never. Still love the service. BTW, ATV4k is still tops in PQ and speed IMO. I've tried all of them. (remote still lacks though)

I looked into switching to using them from cable since it’s $5 cheaper a month and I get way more channels through them, but supposedly the bitrate is significantly worse and the video quality sucks?
For me it's $50 cheaper a month so we just dropped Directv stream. The picture quality on my LG OLED is the same, and now they have a Bally App for regional sports so NO longer stuck with AT&T Directv rate games.

This is excellent news. If regular content creators can, and do, take advantage of this, this will finally mean that voices can be directed to a center speaker without the need of upmixing. The stereo signal will finally be kept clean in its original form, and not dumped into the center speaker.

YouTube’s app on Apple TV is some of the absolute worst that has ever been created by any serious company. Any move that may result in a less horrendous experience is welcomed. The next step would be to force Google to follow the standards set for the user interface on Apple TV, which really should be the bare minimum.

So late for them to reinvent the wheel. I left them in November when they failed on their 10th promise.
Went to Directv Stream and have been happy ever since. PQ DVR and UI fits my needs perfectly.

This is YouTube TV, the cable replacement service. Not regular YouTube.

You should try reading the second sentence in this article, it’s super informative!
Typical rude comments as usual on this forum. Maybe I did not realize there was a diff app from the standard YouTube app, and thought maybe there's no real targeted 5.1 content currently on the standard YouTube app.

But I guess if belittling people makes you feel better, then you do you.

I would rather have HDR support (Dolby Vision even better), which I believe the Apple TV YouTube app does not support.
It wouldn’t help. Their streaming quality is terrible. I’m a subscriber and many channels aren’t even 1080p. 720p is more common.

You have to set AppleTV to HDR mode in settings. Then YouTube and YTTV will do HDR. I have not verified if you need to still do this, though. If you're not seeing HDR YouTube, then is must mean it has to be done still. There's some football/baseball games that showed in full HDR on YTTV when I had the $20 a month 4K option. I no longer have that option. Not enough content in 4K.
This is a long standing bug. The Apple TV is supposed to set color depth and frame rate according to content, but the YouTube apps don't pass this information to the OS so the switch can happen.

With a true HDR TV the best experience requires the incoming signal to match the content. SDR for SDR content, HDR for HDR content. When you have the wrong color depth in the signal, the problems vary by TV but for my LG OLED, HDR content in SDR will look flat and lifeless; SDR content in HDR will be excessively bright.
