I got the Zagg HD the week it came out for my iPhone 4S and I see tiny scratches on it. Anyone else see this flaw? I must say, however, it still works very well and feels nothing like the original shield.

I'm waiting for the new versions from Powersupport. Their protectors are the best for apple devices IMHO.

Well, I may have to eat some of my words earlier. I decided to upgrade my 32 gb to a 64 gb iPad. Long-story-short, I got a new InvisibleShield HD installed on my 64 gb iPad today...and it looks like CRAP. It has vertical lines all over it...in fact, it looks almost like wood grain! I can even see the lines when the iPad is turned off and also on the black border of the screen! I will be taking it back to Best Buy tomorrow and requesting that a new one be put on it. Maybe it was a "bad" one? My iPhone doesn't look like that and they replaced that one today. VERY strange. We'll see how it turns out.

I had the older Zagg product on both my iPhone and iPad 2. I was happy with it, but it did have that slight textured "orange peel" look to it. But, in the original's defense, when I finally peeled it all off to send my iPad 2 in to Amazon trade in, my iPad looked as good as the day I bought it.
Now I have the new iPad. I got the old style full body, but put the HD screen on this time. I got it installed at the store. (Headquarters actually, the company is based here in SLC). They said watch out for bubbles, but they would go away. I'll admit for the first 24-48 hours it looked TERRIBLE. Bubbles, etc.. But, I heeded their words and didn't use my iPad during that time. After a few days, sure enough, everything cleared up and the new HD screen looks amazing. No orange peel look or feel. It's crystal clear and looks like the original glass. There is one tiny spec of dust under it. I mentioned it when they installed the screen on my parents iPad a few days ago and they said "Bring it in and we will gladly replace it free". Now I don't really notice it anymore, but it's nice to know I have that option. I have a normal case on my iPad also, and it's nice to know when I eventually take it out of the case to sell or trade in there won't be any micro scratches on it. Amazon actually gave me MORE then they said they would for the trade in of my iPad 2 that had the Zagg product on it all last year.

I think going forward I'll continue to use the Zagg stuff on my iPhones and iPad's as a base layer and keep a nice case on it also.
While I was there I swapped out my old iPhone zagg cover for a fresh one (free, but $10 to re-install the new one. Yay lifetime warranty!) When I peeled that off the iPhone 4 that's almost 2 years old it still looks good as new. I wish I had upgraded my screen for that one to the HD version. I also have one of the free cases Apple offered for the 4 back during Antennagate on it in addition to the Zagg.

I have been told everything that you've said and I agree. I expect bubbles & stuff...however, this "wood grain" look is weird and is BAD. This doesn't look like liquid that will dry. It's almost "prismatic." Rainbow colors as I look over the screen. First one didn't do this...

I don't know what to say, my screen looks great. I called my parents to ask about theirs (They were visiting) and they said after a few days theirs looks damn good also. No issues from them.. (My dad said it took 3 days for it to fully clear up, painful when you want to play with your new iPad!)
Where did you get it installed?

I installed it myself at 5:00pm yesterday, I've done before and everything went well. However with it being 11hrs later, should I not see air bubbles disappearing? Or would it take a few days? I would like to take back sooner than later if something is wrong since it's from Best Buy and I paid $35 for just the front cover. Minor bubbles or air pockets I expect to disappear but there's one spot it seems almost small pebble was under there, definently not flat and smooth.. Please help going to try calling zagg too

I'm in the Annapolis, Maryland, area, and none of our local stores, not even the ZAGG kiosk at the local mall, had the HD shield for the new iPad in stock. So I ordered one direct from ZAGG. The fellow who manages the kiosk installed it for me for $8.50 and it was obvious he had installed hundreds of shields and knew exactly what he was doing.

I also ordered the ZAGG folio direct from ZAGG because the black one I wanted was not in stock anywhere. It should arrive this week.

It took 24-48 hours for my bubbles to clear out.

When I apply Zaggs I completely drench my iPad with mildly soapy water, position and squeegee just enough to tack it down on the screen. I don't even bother squeegeeing out the bubbles. I just let it sit on the table and let it cure. The bubble will go away.

I called best buy geek squad and they said all micro bubbles work out within 1 day with the new screen, ive decided to wait it out a few days and see if it disappears. However turning on the phone, the one bubble that bothers me almost looks like dirt or dust or something trapped underneath. Anyone know if you can lift the protector up halfway, clean the spot with scotch tape and then re-apply with some remaining liquid? I have almost half a bottle of the solution they provided left after washing my hands with it and using it to apply the first time. I won't risk lifting it to clean if it won't re-stick down

----------

It literally feels like a bump under the protector, unlike water bubbles still remain smooth on the screen

Screen Protective Film

I just received Screen Protective Film from Monoprice - what a nice protection for iPad 3 very clear!

As a quick update I decided to peel it off, sprayed it down, cleaned the spots that were bothering me with my finger tip that was soaked in the solution also. Re-applied it being more precise with air bubbles and already it looks better, I will let you know how it looks when it cures 12 hrs.. Just letting people know you can do it so far so good

You can remove and wash the film with soap and water, just don't forget which side is which.

The solution is not an adhesive. If you do run out just use a solution of water and just a 2-3 drops of dish washing liquid.

Thank you xraytech and CIA for your instant replies, already it's looking better and hasn't costed me extra money.. The cellphone guy at walmart told me the solution they use, kind of activates the shield plastic or whatever it is to be adhesive heh. I believe the solution is to help slide the protector into the right place and help make the seal to the glass. But I'm no expert. However great help and ideas from here, thank you. Will keep updated on how it turns out in the morning.

Looks like glass now.. Definently glad I lifted it to clean it and re-apply. I had thought I stretched the shield removing it, but when I soaked it again it seemed to re-shape back to normal. Micro bubbles but only 1or2 this time. And I know these will disappear because how small they are.

I'm on the iPad 2

Is it worth removing the old zagg and buying this new HD?

The old zagg has no scratches or anything

The New HD version really nice on the Higher rez screen and has a smoother finish. There is a very very very slight orange peel.

Would you be gaining anything in clarity?

Not really.

So unless your present Zagg is starting to show some wear, I'd leave well enough alone.

I would say it's worth the upgrade if you find the original ZAGG shield to be tacky or sticky like some people found. I would say with the clarity also it's definently worth a new one, but the HD really does feel like the original glass surface. Plus if your old one is still in perfect shape, take it off and give it to a friend who doesn't have one, they may even throw you 5 or 10 bucks for installing it for them..

I love ZAGG films. A good thing about it is that we have a booth in our local mall here and the guys will install the film for me. I can never do that right myself.

Ok...had to come back and update...

I went back to Best Buy today and had them install a new IS HD...it looks AWESOME. Must've had a "bad" one. It now looks like there's NOTHING on my iPad screen. There are a few micro-bubbles from the install, but they will go away in the next 24-48 hours. I pointed out a couple dust specks that got under the screen before I left, she pulled the IS up, got the specks out and it's pretty pristine. Can't say enough about letting BB install for you. If they screw it up, they simply open a new IS and install that one. If you don't like it for just about any reason over the first 30 days, you take it back in and they install a new one for you. I've attached a couple pics for you. :)

VERY PLEASED!!! Have one on both my iPad 3 and my iPhone 4S.

While I'm waiting the day or two for the micro bubbles to work out is it better to have device on or off? I've left it off for now but it's been 14hrs since I applied

I don't know that it really matters. I had one installed at Best Buy today and I used it an hour after the install...it's been drying while using all day and I have no issues...bubbles disappearing more & more as time goes by.
