hit either link and you'll see what i'm talking about when it comes to "mottled". actually, the feel of the film is quite firm and on the iphone(which is what i had it previously installed on) it makes the device easier to grip, while maintaining non-tackiness.

also, just for clarification, you aren't supposed to put the mottled wrapsol product on your screen. they do supply a clear, non mottled film for the screen but i hate rubbery plastic screen protectors. matte finish static cling protectors look leaps and bounds better and are much easier to install.

that iphone looks amazing! how was that done?

And per chance (the chance is VERY high since the surface area of the films are so large) you get a dirt particle or hair stuck into the glue side of the film before applying, you'll curse yourself for as long as you have the film on.

The aluminum lights these up very prominently, as well as foreign matter forms local bubbles that don't go away by squeegee-ing. All in all, you need to be in a super clean environment when applying these shields.

I've been wanting to install a shield on my laptop but most brands offer the same glossy look. IMO, it just looks very tacky. Thanks to diablo2112, I think I might have found an alternative. :)

F*ck I just bought an Invisishield and saw the picks of the orange peel affect... :( and I want the Wrapsol because it looks a lot cleaner on the :apple: What can I do now? Just ordered it 2 hours ago, I made a thread to but know one brought up Wrapsol and few people replied feel so bad (buyers remorse)

Thanks for the awesome pics and alternatives guys - I will be going with the Wrapsol - that looks amazing.

does anyone use a shield with a speck seethru?

If so how well does it work?

I'm using the Wrapsol (in the pics) with a Spec Satin case. Works great. The wrapsol looks great, I would guess in a see-through case it would really stand out nicely.

It looks like the InvisibleShield has much more protection of the sides of the notebook than what wrapsol offers. I ordered an InvisibleShield the other day for my new MacBook Pro which I'll be ordering shortly, and I don't regret it. Wrapsol's product may look nicer, but Zagg's offers superior protection.

true, BUT unless you're an absolute pro at installing it with a clean room it'll look terrible. oh wait, you already made the point that wrapsol looks better.

I've installed more InvisibleShields than I care to count and can install it without any bubbles, and minimal dust/lint trapped beneath. It appears that the wrapsol would suffer from the same problems since it's a very similar product.

Bill Gates; your my hero...I was feeling down and Sad due to wrapsol's superior aesthetics but you made me realize Zagg's got the Protection. I hope my laptop installment does not look like the prior Zagg user because his looked a little sloppy (no offense intended)

I agree Wrapsol doesn't do anything for the corners. Actually, I don't think any "wrap" style system does much for the corners. I installed this to prevent scratches to the case and discoloration of the palm rests due to skin oils over time. For these purposes, the skins are ideal. For corner protection, I think the spec-style cases are a better way to go. I also use a microfiber sleeve (Tucano) when transporting my MBP in my backback to help with corners.

As I've said, the wraps combine nicely with the cases to avoid the dirt-scratching problem as well when a case is installed.

cept' you can't really see the dust because it's got the mottled/slightly opaque look to it. cleaner looking imo.

His installation does indeed look sloppy, and if you watch the installation videos and use PLENTY of the included application fluid yours should come out at least as good, most likely better.

Well then I could say that you can't see dust with the InvisibleShield either, since unless you literally take your dryer vent and empty its contents between the film and your Mac, you would need to get very close to it to see any dust trapped beneath.

First I saw the other thread, about the Wrapsol Invisishield, and I thought it had to be a joke that everyone was in on, since the photos appear to show an uncovered computer....

But now I see that this is an actual product. I still don't get it -- what's the point?

i guess... i used to love the invisishield stuff. then, i got super annoyed with the orange peel texture and hated it. not to mention the tacky feeling it has.

My point in getting a skin is to avoid the inevitable discoloration of the palmrest due to sweaty/oily hands.

Hey Bill Gates can you post pictures of your installed InvisibleShields.

I installed it last week. It's a pain in the neck to install if you want a bubbles free result. If you let the film stick to itself when dry...oh God... it's very hard to separate it. At the end, YES, it becomes glossy. 3-4 hours installation process.

I am also getting the skin for the palmrest. I am not even sure that I will apply the other films yet.

For those looking into Wrapsol - Amazon has them for half what you can get them for on the Wrapsol site.

This link is for the 15" model.
Dammit... I was feeling better about not getting the wrapsol because I got a better deal on the IS... looks like I could've gotten a better deal on the wrapsol :(. I guess that I could return the IS if the glossiness bugs me.

I unfortunately don't have any pictures to send to you, as I never was in a situation where I needed to take one. Most of the installs that I did were reinstallations on my previous laptops after either having the shield get slightly damaged from wear and tear or from having the screen replaced multiple times and therefore having to install a new shield on that part of the computer. I currently am without a computer as I'm waiting for the back-to-school sale before buying a new one.
