^ Nice! I have to finally slap a micro SD card into mine, so I can get the screen shots off.

I went back to some of the E3 videos...I was wondering, "How long ago did I first see BotW demo'ed?" It was in June, 2016, I can't believe it has been 9 months between first seeing it and playing it. Interestingly, they made some slight changes to the HUD, between then and the actual release.

I've just beaten the first Divine Beast mission. I went for the water one first and what an absolute ride that was! Zoras Domain looks gorgeous, the shock arrow bit was sooooo fun, and the beast itself was equal parts spooky, challenging, and interesting.

I also saw some giant electric dragon around Lake Hylia.

The scale of some things in this game is absurdly good. I *love* being able to see glimpses of beasts on the horizon.

I've spent 35 hours just milling about and it was starting to get a bit boring, so I carried on with the story and it threw me right back in. What a joy! (I love using the joycons gyro sensors to subtly perfect an arrow shot too. Very very useful!)

I'm right behind you. I was doing my best to just explore and take things on my terms, but then ran head long into the first Divine Beast mission/Zora Domain, and decided to do that. Just finished that...

I'm liking the ability to take on monsters you want, and avoid (usually through stealth, but also climbing and/or paragliding around) the one's you don't want.

I'm glad you mentioned the controls, they are really good. My only issue is that in the heat of battle, I often (mistakenly) mash down on the left stick, which then puts me in stealth mode...I have to learn to control my emotions in the heat of battle.

Using the gyro sensors to perfect the arrow aim is fantastic, I also like how it wobble with your hand, so you really have to take care to make an accurate shot.
[doublepost=1489861591][/doublepost]I had meant to say...I can't tell you how many times, inside the first Divine Beast, I told myself, "If I only had the hookshot, I could easily get around this thing!"

Just a spoilery question for anyone in thread that's also a cinephile:

Is it just me, or was whomever that was in charge of Calamity Ganon's design an uncomfortably big fan of Poltergeist II?

Ive got to be sixty hours (nearly?) in, and only done two divine beasts by literally stumbling into them ha. I've got loads of map yet to unlock and have basically approached this as an explorer, checking out every nook and cranny of the areas I uncover.

I've not posted any thoughts here yet, but I can safely say this is one of the best (if not the best) game I've ever played.
It's also the greatest Zelda game I've ever played by a long long way.

I'm glad I bought a 128gb memory card to use as all I'm doing when playing is screenshotting :p.
Game is just beautiful.
Are you pulling these off the sd card directly?

Minor spoiler, not related to plot or story, but if you like figuring things out on your own, be warned:

I can confirm that, as per
http://kotaku.com/how-to-build-an-airship-in-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-1793370556

you can build an air raft! This was just me dumping 4 or 5 octo balloons onto a raft to see what would happen.
pic.twitter.com/2fMyamlPBX

I didn't center them, so the port and aft side of the raft started going up first. It didn't last long, as the octo balloons soon popped...darn it!

I'll experiment more later!

Man, I'm up to 78 shrines and I just can't seem to find anymore. Trying hard not to look online for locations, I guess it's time to start fighting the Devine beasts.

I've been thinking somewhat about the summer DLC and I've had a thought that I actually find somewhat exciting. We know that that DLC will have a new map feature and a new 'hard' mode, two things that I found somewhat incongruous with one another, and with the general tone of BotW, which is well away from Zelda's arcade roots; especially just the idea of upping enemy health and damage (since most things above a Chuchu or basic bokoblin can one-shot you if you're caught unawares). What if the two features are in fact intertwined? What if the map feature is a calendar, and the new 'hard' mode is that the major story elements have a time limit. Don't defeat Vah Ruta in the first 20 in-game days? The dam collapses, major points of interest are lost and you can no longer use Vah Ruta against Ganon in the final battle, or it even works against you. Don't defeat Calamity Ganon by the tenth blood moon? Zelda's power is exhausted, she perishes and Ganon triumphs, a la the moon's impact in Majora's Mask. I obviously won't hold my breath that that's the case, but it's a mechanic that I would find supremely interesting, and about the only way I'd ever play the game again, or purchase DLC for that matter.

Why the hell not!

Cheers for that. They all look great!

I'm not a stickler for horsepower, etc... but the first 2 screenshots kind of bugged me because the ground on which Link is standing is so 'polygonal'. The other sreenshots look fantastic.

Wow, 78 shrines and you haven't started the plot yet? Cool!
Yeah, figured I would explore and power up before facing any of the big bads. Plowing through them now, defeated 3 of the 4, will get the 4th tonight and start with the memories mission. I'm hoping I'll find more shrines along the way, but my wandering around isn't yielding results anymore. Still got 42 more shrines to go.

You have to talk to NPCs, especially recurrent ones like Kass, because there are a fair few of them that only unlock as side quests, like The Crowned Beast or The Stolen Heirloom. The latter one is actually the culmination of two other, mostly unrelated, side quests in Kakariko Village.

I encountered a sleeping Hilox (I think thats its name?) The big red cyclops with the sword around his neck? What a fun little battle that was. Rather simple but man his size and look was fantastic.

I also get too off base in doing side quests, fetching things, and hunting but then I realize how much fun I had and need to stop worrying about finishing the game or being on the objectives.

With that being said, I just did the blue fame thing and now given the 4 Divine Beasts objective so headed that way.

I seriously feel I am missing on some big weapons as I only have some good swords but very little in terms of actual arrows and powerful ones at that. I am hoarding all my rupees though so maybe I need to splurge a little.

How many of the towers have you lit?

I think just the first one that i was wandering around with that old man.

Once you get Hebra Tower lit, there's a snow-covered house in crevasse practically adjacent to the tower. You play snow bowling and can win 300 rupees a pop. I've farmed 15k an hour at times, so you'll have plenty for arrows. And opening fairy shrines. And rebuying Hylian shields. And all of the other rubbish things you have to buy if you're OCD about collecting.

Excellent! Thank you!

Yea, I seem to get very sidetracked and then realize I have been wandering around for 2 hours and didn't do one objective. Goes to show how immersive the game is with each of the little things going on within it outside the story.

I don't want to give away any spoilers (and I don't know many). What I have found is that I am very strategic (if I can be) in picking battles. I don't waste time on enemies that aren't going to give me at least an equal weapon and/or arrows. When I do identify a likely victim, I usually employ stealth and/or the paraglider for the old "vertical envelopment," i.e, approach from above when they least expect it.

Getting side-tracked completely has been the story of my last 10 hours of gameplay. Sheesh...but it is fun!

No spoiling, try to get as many towers as you can right now. Go somewhere high and look around to see if you can find them then try to get them. Along the way, keep an eye out for shrines and villages. Hopefully you'll start running into people and get the story moving.

thanks I think shrines are what I'm looking for, but I dunno where to go? just feel aimless,

from the tall tower with dude chilling telling me to pause the game to be aware of what I can do, Im assuming he means ability like magnet and throwing those bombs?
