Proof that it is just vapor

This announcement proves what investors have feared from day-one of the FB IPO. Zuckerberg does not know how to monetize the mobile platform. By gaining control of the mobile experience, FB might start making real money in the mobile world. Operative word is might.

I have asked friends who have FB accounts: "Would you pay $1 per month for FaceBook?" The answer 100% of the time is "No." Without a complete understanding of the mobile market, FB is destined for failure.

The next desperate move will be devices with the FB brand. They have to control the experience completely, otherwise they just can't make money. In the end it is just vapor. Good luck Zuck'.

As one who doesn't use social media at all (yes, there are nine of us, and we're all living in Nursing Homes) I'm sure I'm missing some incredibly important concept in this whole discussion...

But the phrase "tempest in a teapot" keeps coming to mind.

As another one of the nine, I must be missing it as well.

BTW, I haven't moved into the nursing home yet, but who knows what tomorrow brings?

seriously. you don't really believe that do you? i am not kidding. i can't imagine anyone being so naive.

Google (and AT&T and Facebook and every other company with electronic data on people) routinely "shares" their info with the government (NSA, CIA, FBI, etc.) without requiring a warrant. They can do what they want, and corporations have an incentive to be in bed with the government. On the other hand, they have NO incentive to protect your privacy.

Apple is subject to these criticisms just as much, why aren't they on your list next to ATT Facebook and Google?

They have no incentive to protect privacy. Oh. That's rich. How about the fact that the majority of Google's business relies on maintaining the privacy of its users. Without it - they would have no business.

But more importantly - if you're going to assert that Google (for example) shares their info with government agencies freely and without a warrant - I'd like to see some links - at least one - that verifies your claim. Otherwise - it's just more FUD.

I said Google and all other tech companies. Just Google "Room 641a" for the AT&T - NSA partnership that gave NSA a secure internet traffic interception facility within AT&T property. In that case, an NSA Director estimated that 10 to 20 such facilities had been installed throughout the US. And that's just what they admit to publicly. This is not conspiracy theory - it is well documented in court filings and was featured on Frontline. You can assume hey have many, many such data mining arrangements that we don't know about. Government and corporations are completely intertwined. Don't think they aren't intercepting, logging, and data mining everything you do electronically.

Totally right. I lump Apple in there too.

LOL you still don't get it, do you? Google has nothing to do with Facebook Home. Get it through your head!

Get a grip? LOL, perhaps you should start looking yourself at the mirror first.

Ok and I contend that Goolge infact is a part of this as a venture. unless your in the board room or involved in development, how do you know? the theory for this is: why is this exclusive to newer versions of the OS? I'm guessing there is framework required that has been baked in based on recent updates to vanilla android that supported this service. we just don't know.

Wow you're incredible. No comment on what you wrote just now. You literally leave me speechless.

Better experience, more open... this is just a sales pitch - it's got nothing to do with reality.

Are you seriously saying you think iOS is more open then Android, which is open source and can be used, modified, rebuilt by anyone?

If so, you don't deserve the internet.

He's not. He uses an iPhone as do all Facebook employees. He doesn't believe Android to be a better experience, but what did anyone expect him to say at this event?

It's only better in that it can be turned into a Facebook phone. Whether that translates to a better smartphone experience remains to be seen, but I'm not holding my breath.

Like a smart drug dealer he's happy to sell you something bad for you, but he's not going to use his own product.

Android was simply the best platform to mine user data on to sell to advertisers; that's the business Zuckerberg is in. But for his own life, he's going to use the device he likes best, which is apparently an iPhone. He doesn't care one bit about the user experience of mobile phone users but his own. He cares about sucking in other people's user data to sell and make him richer.

Hey, ever heard of open source? Yea, unlike iOS google and android are open source. Leaving any developer company the ability to take the stock android systems and modify them or change them and release them as their own. Do you really think HTC or Samsung collaborate with Google when they release their custom roms and skins on their devices?

People here get dumber and dumber everyday...

Facebook does not sell any info. Nor does Google, read and learn

You are so misinformed, must be hard being so blind to the reality of the world.

Google collects private info and keep it to themselves. Using that info, they deliver what they think is the ideal ad for you. The info never leaves Google's servers.

Naive? You're just changing arguments now, I said Google does not sell the data and now you say they share data with government organisations.

I cannot argue against that because I did not look into it but one thing I can say is that I personally don't give a poop if my info is given to the government.

I re-quoted you above. Note where you say that Google "collects private info and keep it to themselves". Is that not the opposite of giving it away? But now you say that you don't disagree with the fact that they may be giving it away to the government? I didn't change any argument. You said they keep it to themselves and "the info never leaves Google's servers" So, yes, I say that's naive.

Whether you care or not is irrelevant. I can't teach civics or stop the decline of civilization, that is inevitable. I just watch and figure you get what you deserve

And that's why you spend your days surfing Apple centric sites. LOL!!!!!!

Ummm I have an Android phone and I'm typing this on a Mac. How is that possible?!!!!!!:confused: OMG!!!!!WTF????111111 LOL TROLOL

Oh I know some people are not glued to one particular brand and are willing to see fault in a company. At the moment for me, Android for phones, OS X/Mac for computers. Not that hard to understand.

Steve Jobs better rise from his grave quickly or Apple is doomed!

For real?

Never said you were right, I just said I would not argue against you on that since I did not read about and won't invent anything, still the data is not sold to anyone. But at this point, since you can't even provide proof, I might as think it's just FUD.

We still dont know what Zuckerberg really plans and aaaaahhhh let's just see. But still i Love iPhone. Forevaaaaaaaah! hahaha
