does anyone actually switch??

I'm curious so I switch between different OS all the time. 90% of the apps I use are always free on all platforms and are sometimes better on other platforms than iOS (ie. Dropbox is better on Android, Whatapp is better is on Blackberry). You just have to explore a bit

while it maybe more open, it's still not a better experience than iPhone

To be clear, nobody ever said that Facebook Home on Android was way better experience than the iPhone. What he said was since Android is more open, they were able to make "Facebook Home on Android" a way better experience than "Facebook Home for iPhone" could be.

No, Mr Zuckerberg, No.
People do not care about FB.
They simply use it to chatstalkdelvefindsearchcheckuplooksnoopplay with others via it. It does not mean they give a **** about it.

Article Title Misleading - He never said it was "way better than iPhone"

He said that what they created on android is way better than what they could have created on iOS.

That is "Facebook Home for Android" is way better than "Facebook Home for iOS" could have been. Obviously, because they can't do **** on iOS in terms of changing the default inerface.

The Title of this post is BS click/comment bait - I expect better from MacRumors.

Android is more open.

However, we are awaiting the imminent arrival of iOS 7, which should reset the bar, yet again

Can't wait to NOT to use this. Facebook Home seems like it will be a widget on steroids that will slap you if you don't give it attention.

"Apple and Facebook have at times had a strained relationship, as evidenced by difficulties related to Apple's now-defunct Ping social networking feature in iTunes"

How does this show that Apple and Facebook had a strained relationship? It just shows that whoever was in charge of Ping really blew it.

Facebook is in a sad state of affairs at the moment and without the correct innovation, the bubble will burst and another 'fresh' competitor will steal the spotlight. You only have to look towards Friends Reunited, Bebo, MySpace and Yahoo (Social side) to see that social networks come and go.

Unfortunately Facebook seems to be becoming a bloated site with no sense of direction, desperately seeking ways of trying to obtain money from its huge audience. Bringing ads to your Android phone through an OS integrated app? Seriously?

Mark and the rest have made their money and I really don't get the feeling that they are trying to come up with enough relevant ideas to stay ahead of the game.

The only losers here will be the investors, us users can just move along.

All in good time I believe.

Big surprise, the guy making his own version of Android likes how it's open. Sounds like he's just trying to market the Facebook phone. This isn't even about Zuck saying that Android offers a better experience, MR.

Oh yeah, Facebook would love be able to offer this on iOS. Fortunately, they can't ;)

Recently (finally) updated my 3Gs to iOS6 and now FaceBook won't work properly, keeps crashing and it has all the updates.

I really hope people at Apple are listening as I don't want people to loose their trust and leave.

said something similar since it's been obvious lately with the kind of posts showing up lately.. but of course mods deleted my post calling them out on it.

Just to add. How is this any different from the bolt-ons that Samsung and HTC build into the Android OS anyway?

This is just Facebook toying with the idea of a phone OS by embedding itself into Android more than usual.

Obviously Apple wouldn't allow this as it does not comply with their OS design philosophy. But seriously, who really cares?

I just ordered the htc one because I am getting bored with iPhone. That being said, I still don't want facebook home on my phone. I am liking facebook less and less these days. But to each their own. Ultimately this isn't an iphone vs android problem, but rather how bad an individual needs Facebook. No?

Waiting to see what iOS 7 will bring to the table.

Thanks to all this stupid media attention from facebook i decided to finally just drop it.

It was a little jarring to see how tied into facebook i was. Deleted passwords from chrome, deleted apps from iphone, delete account from iPhone, gotta go delete the apps from my Nexus 7 when i get home.

its a good feeling though.

I am not only using the i Phone, and iPad because of loyalty but I have an extensive iTunes library that is all legally purchased. I do not see a viable reason to switch my phone and loose the ability to have one device and have access to all my media without conversion. I dropped Face-book the beginning of the year and I am much happier.

If Android offered a reliable and hassle-free media conversion feature and its interface was simple like iOS then maybe I would consider changing.

I haven't converted media for years!

That is the reason I am a dumb apple Fan boy. It works from the start.

I thought the same until I actually tried Android.

I recently switched from an iPhone 5 to the Note 2. I will definitely give this a try when it is available. Choice is a wonderful thing. Thank you Android.

have you tried PowerAmp? love the 10 band EQ along with the separate tone controls and virtualizer. some roms will even let you control playback via the volume buttons without having to turn the screen on.

10 band eq and virtualizer effects???

never touch the stuff, but then again, I have quality encodes and good audio reproduction equipment so I don't want that kind of junk getting between my ears and the artist's original intent, hoping to make it "sound better" with a big smiley-face eq curve but to each his own.

For anyone who is thinking of deleting their Facebook account, do note that they keep a lot of data, even after the initial deactivation.

I recommend for anyone, contacting Facebook through the ways that they offer and stating that the information needs to be deleted due to a case of fraud, or whatever story you want to make up.

They then delete it permanently over the next couple of days.
