Think I'll stick with my Feather.

I almost bought a feather yesterday at the MacMall store here in Chicago but the fact that the top and bottom edges of the iPad are totally exposed was a deal breaker for me. I'd rather have the full coverage of the Zum, to each their own I guess.

The ZUM isn't a bad case - its just made of a fragile material compared to say the Feather...but it does give better coverage of the iPad.....if only ZUM would improve the material quality?

To clarify, I like the extra coverage of the Zum, but all the reports of the poor quality material is why I'll stick with my Feather. Perhaps the new iPad model has solved the issues with cracking.

I've had my Zum for almost 5 months and have yet to have any cracking under heavy usage. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen but in my case I haven't experienced it. Also, every Zum user who has had problems with cracking has had their cases replaced, excellent customer service.

I actually really liked my ZUM case for the iPad 2. I'm being sent a 3rd replacement as we speak from Joey. Great customer service.

The one thing I really liked is how thin it is. I ended up picking up the new Belkin Snap Shield for my new iPad, and it's noticeability thicker.

I took very great care, but the tabs on the left just kept snapping off.

You're much cooler about it than I would be.

Between myself and my family, we had five Zum SC's. Some were purchased at release and others in Dec, 2012.

All five Zum's will not stay attached on the smart cover side. The little retention clips eihervjust do not hold or they break off. The cover stays on, but it is not fully clipped and comes off more easily than you anticipate. Two covers have cracked. It is an OK back cover, but it is undeserving of the praise heaped upon it in this forum.

FINALLY received my warranty replacement, oddly it doesn't have ZUM embossed on the back

That's not true. There's at least 3 of us who never got sent replacements and have had their emails ignored. One of the poorest customer services I have ever come across.

I for one will never buy another ZUM product and will recommend that my friends and family stay clear.

I have thus purchased a Incipio Smart Feather.

Same here, received my replacement today and there's no ZUM logo on the back. I find it to be thinner than the original. Also, the packaging was pretty crappy, for mine at least. I will not purchase another ZUM again.

No packaging for mine at all, just in a paper envelope with no padding. Genuinely shocked it made it form china to england undamaged!
I was initially impressed, now I'm not

I think my Zum maybe defective. Both corners on the side where the smart cover attaches the corners of case doesn't come over the lip of the iPad.

I'm having the same problem with mine, just contacted Amazon to return; my wife's fits fine on her iPad 2. I really like the product but mine just won't stay attached correctly.

ZUM SC ulimate in the UK

Is there anywhere that i can order the ZUM SC ULTIMATE for the new iPad in the UK? I can't seem to find a seller. :(

Yes the Zum covers the speaker area but has small holes for the sound to pass through. Search through the iPad accessories list for a few other threads that have photos of the Zum.

Just got this the other day for my iPad 3. It is great but my complaints from most important to least important.

1. It does not lock on the bottom or top.
2. It is loose so dirt and sand can eventually get under it and scratch the back
3. All speaker holes are not aligned properly. 4th row starts going off and the 5-7th row is completely covered.
4. Camera cut out is not centered
5. Audio jack has a square cutout instead of round
6. Mic cutout is huge
7. Not 1mm thick. It is thicker. Around 1.2 to 1.5mm thick.

I am thinking about using a very sharp blade to cut off the smart cover lock. Every decent case I have seen has this and I do not want to lock it on.

I took my skin I had on off since the corners were popping up. I kind of wish I kept it on since this does not have a tight fit. I have a Matte back protector I never put on so I may use that and put the cover back on.

I am still deciding on a SwitchEasy ultra clear.

Not sure what was the reason for you to get this case originally???

"I am thinking about using a very sharp blade to cut off the smart cover lock." thats the main reason why people wants the ZUM case... if not u can easily get a cheap knock off for $5!!

agreed - they invented the lock..other wise there are thousands without it....and now hundreds with it...

I got my Frost iPad 3 case about a week ago. Overall I'm a bit disappointed. It does what it says it will... locks the smart cover and protects the back. What I don't like:

- Looks cheap IMO
- It's thin but it adds noticeable thickness, again my opinion
- Mine discolored where the smart cover has rubbed against it. I've had trouble removing it (had to use a magic eraser)

I'm guessing this style case just isn't for me.

I have had a smart cover since day 1, and no scuff marks on mine at all. I DO have some dark grey "metal dust" from where the hinge is rubbing together and wearing a bit, but that isnt with the iPad itself. Taht stuff just wipes right off.

Any other folks comment on this.. metal to metal contact issue? What has been your experience?

I dont agree with anything you have said.

It looks great and their logo on the back is integrated in well. The feel is also reasonable for this type of material.

Its SUPER thin and therefore cannot add bulk. Your comment is truely baffling. You wont find anything thinner.

I have not discoloration and am just not sure what's moving your yours to do it. What I do know is that magic erasers are abrasive (ABRASIVE) and so I suspect you added the discoloration by essentially sanding your cover.

I'm not looking for you to agree with me. I am letting others know of the issues I had. I agree about the magic eraser. My point is that my smart cover caused discoloration that would not come off without using one. And that was after a week of semi-regular use. I use it in a business environment so I am not doing anything strange with it.

As for my baffling comment about the bulk. Maybe that wasn't the right word. The case is supposedly 1 mm thick though I believe it to be slightly thicker (1.5mm). The iPad is 9.5mm thick so that is over 10% thickness increase that I can feel but I was one of the people bothered by the iPad2---> iPad3 thickness gain.

Like I said, not my style of case. I'd rather go naked or with a back skin.
