What is a Zune ???. Is it food![]()
It must be. Brown, ugly, slippery, and slimy. hm... I wonder what else can it be?
MS is the market leader because they started out a year too early (yes it was too early, hence the massive hardware failures) and bought a bunch of exclusivity early on, killing any competition for the titles.

This is really getting on my nerves. They don't sell brown Zunes anymore.

This baby green is just a different flavor of the same stuff though :
That's just a muted green. It's not a brown Zune.
Gosh, sorry.
I'll go gather some of the neighbours and we'll go perform a questionnaire.
Don't be absurd.
And which "some"? A random sample or just the ones you pick?Ah, but you and your neighbours do not, and never did represent the industry, the consumers, or the customers as a whole. Please use official facts and figures made by reputable (or somewhat reputable) sources.

I'm sure I'm one of the very few, but I liked the brown Zune. It wasn't like all other MP3 players and it would have gone well with some of my outfits. I wish the new shuffles came in more colors... that way I could match them with more of my clothes, but instead I would have to wear greys/whites/blacks.
And before you say Xbox... ugh.. The Xbox itself was a massive failure. It sold in some numbers, being a distant third in the market in the face of the overwhelming PS2 and the brand for kids (at the time), Nintendo. With the Xbox360, guess what Microsoft did ?
They didn't compete. They basically bought out exclusivity deals for cash from 3rd party game makers, assuring their platform would be well positionned. We all know consoles don't sell consoles, games sell consoles. Sony seemed to refuse to do these deals, simply trying to leverage their PS2 platform. They failed to realise that console generations are brand new games, and you need to bring it right away as if you were a new player in town everytime.
And it's very telling that even though Microsoft made all these backdoor deals to force their platform to the top, the Nintendo Wii trounced them on quality of titles and experience.
If it was that easy to penetrate the gaming market, then someone would have done so before MS. Do you remember Apple's attempt at a gaming console?
If MS tried to buy exclusivity, then Sony should have offered more for the developers not to leave. It's all part of the competition. That's what capitalism is all about.

Ah. Do you seriously think that Sony can outbid Microsoft?
Still waiting for your proof.
Yes it could. Sony should have offered alternative incentives to keep the developer. After all, money while a major factor, is not the only one that affects the utility for a developer.
One could argue that Sony's move to Cell architecture was a disincentive for developers to stay with Sony. If they wrote for Xbox, it would be more simpler to port to other platforms hence savings.
It's not all about the money. Developers would have left MS if they had sub standard support.
Well for the Cell architecture, without any advances in technology such as that the gaming industry will move on, probably in another kind of product. And both Sony and Microsoft looses. Microsoft is merely using the inertia left by the developers' willingness to move on. They eventually will, and when they do, they will move back.
And I am still not convinced that Sony is going to fall anytime soon. The Xbox may have a foothold, but the PlayStation is nowhere near the "extinguished" status.
Microsoft marketing: Hey guys, let's take a buzzword from 2 years ago (HD) and slap it onto our already crappy product name (Zune) and we will have a definite hit for sure! Then we will make it look like an iPod touch, use a paint drip ad that mimics the nano ads and make millions! Genius!
You only need to have a slight sense of logic, to understand that 100% of teenagers cannot possibly all want to buy iPods within the next year. Like I said, the fact that I don't plan to buy another is proof enough.
I think it says something about the user experience and gameplay, when even after multiple hardware failures, people still go back to the Xbox and not PS3.
Why is it anything remotely MS related always devolves into how MS sucks compared to anything?
Not to be a b***h and rain on your anti-MS parade, but I'm presonally psyched to see where this goes. I'm looking for a reason to ditch my iPod Touch (too little space). And hell, since all music is DRM free, I can still buy from apple and play on a Zune!
