Any more news on this zune or are we still going from the pics posted at the beginning?

Yes, there are laws preventing this. I forget what the official term is though...

The government doesnt give a crap about your opinion.

You're confusing them with a company that doesn't have a monopoly. Rules change when you're a monopoly. Specifically : You can't leverage that monopoly to acquire monopolies in other markets.

Anti-trust. Read up on it.

And this brings a ridiculous situation where a maker of a superior product is forced to price their product at the same level or higher of their competitors inferior products.

Capitalism? Doesn't sound like it.

As for the government not caring what my opinion is, what do we have elections for?

What compenition?

That chart doesn't make much sense...

100% of the people plan to buy an iPod? Apple has 86% share and "other" (including these cheap-ass things) only 4%?

It's clear though that the iPod rules.;)

Like they say, just because more people use it, doesn't mean it's better. ;)

Nope, MS Won't

It's already dead! Just bury the bloody thing!

Because MS thinks it has a god given right to dominate every market they can. They're playing the slow game on this one. They've enough money in their coffers to continue to support this venture.

Decent art work though which is in stark contrast to MS's previous ad. Hmmm, I wonder if they'll do one in Brown?

I am amused by all these posts saying MS shouldn't bother with the Zune since it's having a hard time gaining market share.

By that logic, Apple should dump almost everything they make.

Don't get me wrong; competition is great for all. Just don't throw any potential crappy product out there and expect to 'blow smoke up someone's a88 in order to make them feel good". It's just MS approach to anything - "get the market, get the sale". MS have had a major headstart product development and implementation ever since their existenence, and yet they are playing "catch-up and take-over" and annoyed by this one company that happens to be a thorn in their side. They want to venure the one area of their business that they had no interest past to be in --- fun.

Think about it.... when was the last time you had any *fun*, or enjoyed using a MS product?

Playing games on Windows and Xbox360 is fun. MS has really nice keyboards and mice. Windows Home Server is an enjoyable piece of kit, and Windows Media Centre is fun as well. Anyway, good night, gotta go.

Capitalism? Doesn't sound like it.

Monopolies are by definition anti-capitalism. They are anti-competition and they are notorious price-fixers. Oligopolies are the same to a lesser extent.

And besides, we've all seen what unregulated Capitalism does.

I didn't say iPod is better... Well, maybe the usage of "rules", but I meant "ruling the market share"...:D All I was saying that the numbers can't be right.

I don't have an iPod or an mp3 player because I have and had it on my phone for 4 years now. The phone is with me most of the time, so I don't see why I should have a second device. Anyway, there will be an iPhone in a couple of months...;)

Replace MS with Apple in that sentence and it stays just as true. These are companies that are out to dominate markets. You don't think Apple wants to completely own the PMP market (which it already does) or the home PC market?

If anything, Apple is worse than MS when it comes to monopolies. If Apple were to dominate the home PC market owning a computer would be a much more expensive venture. I remember the brainwashing they gave us when I went to Cupertino for retail training. Apple thinks that they are god's gift to the world.

Fair enough, they might well be, but don't for one second think that Apple has your best interests at heart. If it suites their wallet, then they'll do it.

Stop worshipping companies, some of the people that I used to work with at Apple are downright psychotic. It's a company for christ's sake, they make nice products sure but Steve Job's tears aren't going to cure cancer I assure you.

Once again, lots of nervous/dissmissive/angry outbursts in a thread about a product Apple doesn't make. Sounds like a terrible insecurity complex.

Wow Apple Already Came Out With That Is Called The iPod Touch=)
And It Took Microsoft 2 Years Later To Come Out With It haha

What's sad is this post epitomizes probably around 80% of replies in this thread - whether that be through the users' name or actual post. :p

Nope. It'll garner attention from the small collection of current Zune owners and then fail.

I was just reading more about this at Apple Insider as they ripped it apart lol, but the thought occurred to me..... What if this isn't like the Touch, but the next Zune to compete with the Nano??? That would be interesting.

If Microsoft were smart, that is what they should go for with a much better chance of success! Good thing they aren't smart! :p

Mark my words:
"This is going to be a phone"
You may call me crazy but I just know.

A Zune Phone sounds more repulsive than appealing. I can't imagine telling my friends that I'm about to go buy a Zune Phone. I would keep it at home out of embarrassment.
