Good news for Mac Zune/WP7 users.

I just started using Zune software instead of iTunes on Windows and I love it.

I may download it and try it out, but I'm staying with iTunes. Mainly because of my iPod but I'll still try out Zune and give it a chance.

Looks pretty good visually too.

I have the 32GB Zune HD that is "on-loan" to me. I love the ability to sync my music from Zune-Computer so in case of data loss, your music just transfers back!

I really enjoy the interface, the sharpness of the blacks, and the high quality of the videos.

I'm an avid Mac fan and Apple aficionado but have to say Microsoft turned out something pretty nice with the Zune. We'll see how WP7 goes.

I love the idea of a Zune pass.
I have no problem with M$ making the Zune available for Mac, although personally I'd never buy a Zune. What I hope would come out of it is either that the Zune pass is compatible with iTunes and iPods or that Apple gets that rumored subscription model going, along with a number of songs each month you get to keep. Can't wait for that! Hopefully the news will push Apple to get serious in their negotiations with the music labels

HA, I love the AMOLED + Zune HD combo. If I get a WP7 it NEEDS to have an AMOLED screen.

This is great news, it opens up WP7 as another option when it's time for me to get a new phone, and I've really been liking the previews.

Choices are good. Let's see how it compares to iTunes :)
But I do sincerely hope for WP7 users that the Zune Software on a MAC works better than the POS MS Office 2008.

Wait, Microsoft needs to use a proprietary software to use its device? Where are the FUDsters who will cry closed now?

So iTunes on Windows is not called a "choice," but Zune on Mac is called a choice? I can't roll my eyes high enough.

If iTunes ran decently and didnt cause such problems when trying to sync to multiple computer there wouldnt be as much backlash methinks.

I gotta say, one of my biggest pet peeves is companies that whine about Apple's success with iTunes but don't support Mac OS X themselves with their own products. Good for Microsoft giving Mac users some choice of services. About 10 years too late, but at least they're doing it. Not saying I'll use the Zune software (I'll definitely try it out), but it's nice to know it's there.

I hate to break it to the haters/morons, but the Zune software is completely fantastic and is miles ahead of iTunes in terms of presentation and ease of use. Combined with the Zune pass and you have a serious platform. I use an iPhone 4 but use the Zune HD as a pmp and MAN is it awesome. Best thing MS does IMO. In fact, being on OSX primarily, Zune is the only thing I miss not having. IF this is true, I consider it huge news. Goodbye iTunes if that is the case. No ifs, ands or buts.

Agreed.

Zune is light years beyond iTunes at this point. It's beautiful to look at, easy to use, and gives you access to Zune Pass.

Zune Pass is the greatest thing for music lovers. And the Zune HD is a great device for music. MS really did a fantastic job there, but they've bungled the marketing. Granted, I don't care about apps. As a music player it is the best thing out there. The interface is great and Zune Pass at $14.99 a month is a steal, especially since you get to keep 10 tracks per month permanently in 320kbps mp3 format.

Microsoft isn't really in the software business

... It doesn't make sense for MS (a software company) to shut out potential buyers due to software limitations. ...

Microsoft does produce software, but they're really in the "Windows + Office in enterprise" business. Ballmer knows that, and he won't do anything to jeopardize sales of MS Windows, Office for Windows, or enterprise software.

All the costly and embarrassing failures with WinCE, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, KIN, and now Windows Phone 7 have little or no effect on Windows + Office in the enterprise space. So Ballmer really doesn't care if they succeed or not. He's spending resources on WP7 and Zune only because he'd be fired already if Microsoft didn't at least try to copy Apple's products and successes.

I can't wait to see how badly they screw up the TV space. Again. Remember: Microsoft bought WebTV then renamed it MSN TV, and look how well that did.

Very well put :D.
