Wow some people here really take the iphone to the heart and soul , calling people "unethical" "not a man of honor" "low class" , geez take it easy geeks is just a freaking phone (which i happen to love) wait..did i just contradict myself there? oh well .. salud!

Pretty much how I see it. LOL! Anyways if the people that bought black and now want white were smart they would just sell the black one and take the profits and buy a white one. Hell they will probably have money left over.

That way no ones feelings get hurt on the old interwebs either. :D

I've never really cared for the white iPhone, it seemed to show the micro cracks where the black didn't. My phones have always been in a case thus mitigating the look, so much so that it matters little to what color I choose.

Specific to the i4, I don't like the silver on white - very feminine - but I'm sure some girls(/guys?) could pull it off. I also don't like the contrast between the deeply coloured screen and the blank, bright white frame it sits in. Just doesn't fit quite right.

If I'm honest, it really does look like a 'his & hers' scenario, with the black i4 for him, the white i4 for her!

Hmm, I feel like the white doesn't look feminine. To each his own. I'm gonna go for white, it looks much more fresh and futuristic than the black.

I like futuristic too - but iPhone4 made me think of....

If anything it's less futuristic. White/silver Apple products were around 5 years ago, black/silver Apple products are modern.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned...

A white iPhone 4 won't show up scratches anywhere near as much as the black one. I've had a white phone for 4 years (HTC P3600) - pic attached. If I really examine it I can see a lot of small scratches - but sat next to my friend's black iphone 4 you'd say his was far worse. Simple reason: the colour.

But I've got a black one on order anyway (bored of white) - a decision I suspect I may regret when that first scratch appears (or when people are buying the white ones from shops and I'm still waiting for my delivery!!)

Yeah, but if you look at anything that is based in the future (Star Trek, Wall-E, etc.), you'll see that everything is always white. Very rarely do you get a futuristic space station that has black coloring everywhere... white just looks more refined, polished, and cleaner.

I hope they don't take exchanges. I also hope that the white phone comes out after the 30 day notice.

You should learn to be patient enough to wait for something you want - and not have the I WANT IT NOW so I don't care how I make that happen mentality.

Here's hoping that anyone who tries this course of action... can't. Or it's cost prohibitive.

Yeah. I said it.

+1

I currently have a black one on hold, I've had white iPhones before but they get dirty, I might roll with the White 4 though.

I'm really at a toss up. If it releases within 30 days (or within a week after) I'll consider getting it.

Just can't decide. I normall have white phones but damnit this black grows on me everyday.

To me the white iPhone looks like something that would be used by the same guy that showed up to prom with a white tux, top hat, and a cane.

I'll pass.

From iPhones to Star Trek...nicely done.

You do have a point, but it seems like a 'dated opinion' of what the future will be. Now, futuristic objects in films/adverts are primarily glass and metal (which both phones have!).

I skipped on the black iPhone on launch day in anticipation for the white. In retrospect I should have bought and enjoyed the black and then sell it when the white came out. Oh well, I've waited this long, I can wait a few days longer.

And yes, white iPhone is the white shoes, white tux and hat and all that put together... it is awesome!! :D

Exactly! As I said before it screams "look at me look at me I have an iPhone" with jazz hands. :p:D

You say black I say white

Hi - decided to join this forum as you all seem bright and chatty, plus helpful with tips, advice etc.
Re this topic - changing when the white Iphone 4 arrives - it's quite funny how we all bicker amongst ourselves and judge who is right or wrong! There is absolutely nothing wrong with this practice. Mr Jobs is a master at marketing - simple as that - he whips up frenzies amongst us by making Iphones or other devices seem difficult to obtain due to manufacture problems/global shortage etc. He therefore increases his marketing power - the more difficult it is to obtain, the more we want and covet items, we pay more etc etc. So it is not a fault, moral or otherwise if a customer returns it completely, or swaps it for a white one. Both reasons exacerbate the shortage! Who are we to say one is right and the other is wrong? Both types bought it knowing that they could return/change within 30 days for any reason. Why is it worse to swap it? You can't blame people if the rules allow it - it's human nature - and just think of the influx of refurbished Iphones in a month or so.......
Just a thought.

Its not they who are causingThe faclity is there - no ties - it is the terms and conditions of Apple products. Mr Jobs could have handled this differently, but it is he who chose this direction. So, blame him, not the customer. return for it other reasons ie - change mind and don't want it any more(apart from a fault)

Why not? And why didn't you have your iPhone still? I assume you sold it? Prematurely? How is that Apple's fault? Why make it Apple's fault now?

I'm no "fanboy" - but get over YOURself. Thanks for illustrating the entitlement and selfish point some of us have been making though. Well done!

While I never recommend counting your eggs before they hatch, Apple deserves blame for stating that the white and black iPhone would be up for pre-order (it was stated as such in the press release material) on the 15th and then not only did they not have it for pre-order, they did not release any statement until the late eve of pre-orders, and even more, they gave no info as to when it might be available.

Yes. Let's just blame someone else instead of taking personal responsibility for ones own actions. Seriously? "Everyone else is doing it" "They made me do it" "Well it's not illegal..." "They did it so I'm going to" "Well if they didn't make it so easy" and all of those other "justifications" are just ways of knowing you're doing something wrong or borderline and CHOOSING to do it anyway.

So? If you wanted a white phone - you should have waited for it. Why is this such a hard concept? Why does everyone want to blame their own (or someone else's) impatience on anyone other than themselves?

Yes they deserve blame. No you don't deserve a rental phone because of it.

If I were Apple/AT&T I wouldn't allow customers to return them for such a stupid and juvenile reason as waiting another color.

It doesn't matter. Apple specifically has stated you can return an iPhone for full refund within 30 days if you are unsatisfied. If someone is unsatisfied with the black iPhone they can return it for a refund, wait 3 days, then purchase a white iPhone.

My guess is Apple is going to state that you cannot just walk into the store and say "I want to exchange this black iPhone for a white iPhone". That still does not prevent them from flat out returning it.

Why are people so concerned about what other people are doing seriously :rolleyes:If they wanna pay the restocking fee to do an exchange then let them. No money, time, or sweat off your back. People stay worried about the wrong ish

WTF????? Besides the simple moral concept here, there are other practical reasons for not doing this. Do you realize what your behavior does to the cost of everyone's iPhone? (and clothes for that matter). You think your little prank is free? We all pay more for products when irresponsible people do stuff like this. I'm amazed at your ignorance.

Unsatisfied with the phone, not the color. Nice try though.
