It doesn't even matter really. With how easy it is to replace the back cover this year I think 3rd party manufacturers will be making all kinds of colors. The white back with the black front is the winner IMO.

With that said i'm keeping my black 4g. Looks good next to my iPad and Macbook.

You could always just blame them for not stating it clearly enough. If they had stated it exactly the way you wanted then you would have given them more credit. You know - put the blame one someone else besides yourself. It seems to be all the rage LOL

;)

That's the thing, I don't disagree that having the intenion of buying a black iPhone only to exchange later for a white one is not really morally correct, but Im not going to come onto these forums and admonish other people who are going to do that. I think its plain stupid to do so because I bet you if no one was watching, if those same people who are coming on here and admonishing others find a $100 bill on the ground in the middle of a street, they are going to pocket it and not turn it into the police. I will also bet that those same people have made an immoral or unethical decision or move at some point in their life and they will in the future. No one is perfect so stop acting like you are.

+1 Pretty much sums up how I feel. Just like the people doing 90 down the highway cutting people off with their Jesus fish proudly displayed on their bumper. ;)

I have found wallets. And other items. I've returned them to the police and or tried to track down the owners. Cash is a little different though, no? Not a great comparison nor analogy as there's little to no way to find the owner. I have found cash at work or in a "closed" environment and sought the owner. I'm not bragging about it. It's just the right thing to do.

No one is innocent. That's not the point though. This isn't about any other scenario than the one we're talking about. "I don't disagree that having the intenion of buying a black iPhone only to exchange later for a white one is not really morally correct..."

Enough said. That's the point some of us are trying to make. Other's don't see that.

And it's our choice to point that out just like it's their choice to intentionally "brag" about their decisions.

As I had said earlier - if people want to swap their phones out - why not just do it. Why come here and brag, encourage, seek approval or praise, etc for doing so? HEY LOOK - I'M TAKING ADVANTAGE... ... Again - take ownership. If someone is going to post a thread or poll - they should be prepared and understand that there will be people that disagree.

wow - you can just attach any bad analogy you want or justify any action with silliness. Just wow.

I agree with that but also, if you cannot find the owner of the money nor would it ever be possible, to keep it anyways when it is not yours is technically immoral and unethical. But like I said no one is perfect and I'm pretty sure all of us have or will make some sort of immoral or unnethical decision at some point.

I'm not justifying anything. My opinion doesn't matter. People can do what they want. I'm just saying usually what I have found in life is the people that put their high morals up front and go out of their way to make it apparent are usually the biggest offenders and hypocrits.

But I digress, I don't give a damn what people do with their phones. Again if people were smart they would sell their black ones for a profit and then buy a white one.

Then of course they will probably still be immoral to some for price gouging. :D

I'm not making an argument for or against. I'm merely stating facts. The fact is, you can return the phone for being unsatisfied with the phone for ANY reason. All you have to simply tell the Apple rep is that you are unsatisfied with the phone. You could just as well be unsatisfied with it because it's too slim and return it. I was just saying people can get around Apple not letting them "exchange for color reasons."

I really don't care what people do with their phones.

We all know you can return it. We've known that for some time. No one argued that.

What we were discussing was the ethical use of the return policy to simply swap colors. It's a loophole that has opened up because Apple has removed the restocking fee. It was never intended for swapping colors, arguing otherwise is naive.

Not saying I agree with it, see previous posts.

I'm just saying, not being satisfied with the color is not being satisfied, period. Apple's return policy specifically says you can return it if you are not satisfied, they put no restrictions on the things you can be dissatisfied with. Like I said, not saying I agree with it, but just stating the facts.

But, if you bought it already knowing you were NOT satisfied, then you are, in fact "borrowing" a new phone to return it later for another new phone.

If it makes people feel better to think that they're not being inconsiderate becasue a return policy exists, so be it. Doesn't make it the decent thing to do, though.

And of course, nobody here is perfect. But, honestly? It's a PHONE. I love my iPhone, but I'm not gonna bully my way to the head of the line for a black one just because I'm too impatient to wait for the color I already know I want.

Why would you restate the facts we've already been discussing for several pages as well as in the other threads that have covered this topic.

It's pretty obvious its a loophole in Apple's policy. Clearly Apple is opposed to swapping colors. If Apple did want to allow you to swap colors they would do it under AppleCare, and not the return policy.

Which is better?
Darth Vader or an Imperial Stormtrooper?

There's only one way to find out!

FIGHT!

Nicely done. I love Harry Hill.

In modern parlance it's called "self-entitled." In psychological terms, it's Piaget's "Pre-Operational" developmental stage -- roughly equates to the mind of a 2-7 y.o. where thought is egocentric and ability to empathize or understand other viewpoints has yet to be developed.

Of course those returning their black phone b/c they want white will tell you that it's their right for one reason or another. They prove the theory for themselves. So don't judge people swapping out black for white they can't help it as they are socially and cognitively underdeveloped.

Perfectly stated, Chupa Chupa. Very well said indeed.

If you want to exchange your phone exchange, who cares its not ethically wrong its a phone come on. If I want one I return it within 30 days and say im not happy with it then buy a white one you know why BECAUSE IM NOT HAPPY WITH IT! Thats why they give you 30 days. And all you people complaining saying you should have been patient and waited for the white one, I hope something goes wrong with yall's order and you dont get if till Septemeber.

1) there's NO logic in that first statement. What does ethics have to do with what device we're talking about. That's like saying "it's not racism it's a dollar bill" Huh? What?

2) The argument isn't about the return policy. The argument is whether you bought your phone with the advanced knowledge you had no intention of keeping it. In other words - you bought it KNOWING YOU WEREN'T HAPPY WITH IT.

3) I have a black phone which I am happy with. Conversely - I hope that if you're one of the people trying to exchange it - I hope you're hit with a tremendous fee or denied the ability to change. How's that?

Who buys a phone only to return based on it not being the colour you wanted, even with the knowledge that the other colour was coming?

Even worse is the number of people who wanted one but couldn't get and you're not even gonna keep it.

I don't understand this mentality.

They are called greedy douche bags

I will also be taking my ball and going home. LOL!

Seriously? Did you cross your arms and stomp when you typed that out? :D

Haha naw im at work I just think it's ridiculous when people started saying it's wrong to take an iphone back who cares. Yea i bought an iphone and If I wanna take it back and get it a white one then thats my choice. I dont feel guilty for people unable to get one. They should have preordered like me.

Seriously?

You really, truly, do not care that people were online trying to preorder, and there were hundreds of thousands of people either ordering black when they wanted white, or worse, ordering multiple times to make SURE they got one on launch day (or they got several, in an attempt to thwart AT&T's upgrade policies and get rich quick on eBay or Craigslist)?

You really, truly, do not care that people who were legitimately trying to preorder a phone for themselves, in black (their color preference), couldn't get through?

And people wonder why this country is going to hell in a handcart.

Oy.

I'm not suggesting you should do anything charitable to help those people out or anything... I'm merely suggesting that maybe, just maybe, you should at least CARE that they got shafted so you could borrow a black iPhone for a month or so.

Me? I hope that the white doesn't come out for another month or 2.

I can wait for it. No biggie here.
