Received my Lexington case today. I really like it except for the problems with the magnets which I'm sure they will fix. I use the Belkin Snap shield and Apple's smart cover with my iPad 2 and the side of my iPad 2 was all scratched up when I was done using so I was looking for something that didn't do that. This seems like it will fit the bill the flap is a little awkward to get used to but otherwise I think this will be a good case for me.

It is always challenging with cases when you are a release date adopter of Apple products for the first month or two after they come out. It was like this with the iPad 2 as well.

Sometimes I wish Apple would release a smart cover that also protected the back - it would eliminate a lot of these problems and would probably be a good product for most people.

I was hoping I was the exception, but , also received my Lexington and lock feature does not work. I really like the case though. Getting in touch with Incipio tomorrow to schedule replacement.

Hey guys, just got this case in the mail.

all i can say is WOW. what an awesome case. its beautiful, sure the sleep/wake isnt working but i dont care.

It looks just like the leather smart cover from apple, it protects the back of the iPad, very stylish.

That tab is so annoying though.

Got my Lexington today.

Pro's
  • Looks great
  • Tab holds the cover tightly shut
  • Interior material is soft and provides good cushion
  • Exterior provides nice grip. Not too much to attract dust

Con's
  • Tab is hard to pull out and much harder to push in. (Would be easier if it was stiffer *insert laughter here*)
  • When flipping front cover to the back it naturally sticks far out to the other side. Need to conciously fold it so it folds behind with no overlap
  • Magnetic on/off doesn't work

I have have issue with the magnetic switch not working. I understand manufacturers didn't know Apple decided to screw with them, but I called on Monday, told them about the polarity problem, asked if they resolved it and was told, "We're not aware of this being an issue". If I knew this was a problem, surely they knew too. Mistake is one thing, but lying to lock in sales pisses me off.

Should I return it?
They say they'll make it right and replace everyone's case in 2 weeks. I can live with waiting 2-3 weeks.
I like the look and feel; however I hate the tab. It makes opening, but especially closing, or setting into angled positions a real pain. The tab needs to be pushed/coddled into the slide with so much effort I fear it will loosen up and wrinkle over time making it impossible to push through the slide. It's also possible that the slide will loosen up and not hold the tab securely.

Overall I like the case, but really dislike the tab.

Just ordered the JoyFactory SmartSuit3.

Just got off the phone with Incipio customer service regarding the Lexingtons' Sleep/Wake not working and was told I do not have to send anything back and I will receive replacements sent to me as soon as they have corrected stock. Incipio is totally taking care of the problem and its customer service is excellent. The lady said I don't have to do anything and will receive shipping email notification when the replacements ship-I bought two Lexingtons for my wife and I.

I called as well but she told me I have to send them an email detailing the problem, give my order number and shipping location to receive a replacement.

Guys, I just checked the Incipio Lexington's page and can't see anywhere about the sleep/wake functions. They must've deleted it. So does that mean they're not going to make one with the sleep/wake fuction working?

Just received an email stating they will send out a replacement case once they receive them in a couple of weeks. At this point they are probably trying to limit they're liability until they correct the problem.

They definitely changed it.

"The Vegan leather tab attached to the front cover securely buckles in your new iPad for complete closure. Utilize the convenient and stylish tab enclosure to secure your iPad as you take it on the go."

Did you called them directly or you'd emailed them about the problem? Cause I'd emailed them last week and haven't received a reply from them yet.

Received the following email response to an email I sent them on Friday morning:

Thank you for your email. It has been brought to our attention that a slight modification in the magnet direction of the new iPad is preventing our Lexington cases from enabling the Auto-Sleep/Wake function on the new iPad. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We are taking the appropriate measure to modify these cases to ensure that these are fully functional with the new iPad. We will be happy to replace your case with an updated version of the Lexington case as soon as they arrive, in approximately 1-2 weeks. In order to do so, please reply directly to this email providing your confirmed shipping address. We look forward to your reply to better assist you.

After spending a weekend with this case, I still like it. Once they fix the sleep/wake magnet issue, I think it'll be a good case for me, particularly when traveling.

The flap is a little annoying at first, but it actually works pretty well to sit the iPad up in viewing/FaceTime position when you flip it over and put it through the strap backwards. holds it nice and secure for FaceTime. We do a lot of FaceTime in our house with two young kids with the grandparents and honestly, the Apple Smart Cover was always coming off pretty easily when propped up in that position.

I've been folding the cover all the way back and flipping over the tab into the strap when reading for longer periods and that works pretty well as well. I find that reading in bed you can actually rest it on the cover a bit which is kind of nice.

Not bad for a case in its price range.

I suspect that if you flip the cover back and put the tab in the slot once the magnet is moved, it may put the iPad to sleep. It remains to be seen whether Apple's repositioning of the magnetic switch and the polarity switch will eliminate the problem that a lot of cases had with the iPad 2.

Interesting. Maybe they want to avoid replacing any more covers but want to sell their remaining stock of non-functioning cases. This was one of the first things I checked when I heard the magnets were not functioning properly. I was relieved when I saw that they were claiming the sleep wake function was included. Now that I see they've changed it, it seems pretty sleazy. So anyone buying one since they changed it cannot claim that they were led to believe that the sleep wake function was an included feature.

anyone have a screen grab that can post it here in case they use this against us in getting replacements?

^ great. thanks for that. although i talked to them the day mine shipped and they said i will be getting a replacement once they are ready..the same 1-2 weeks everyone else is hearing.

It would be interesting if they did try to change their tune and limit liability. The wording appears on the packaging itself as well on mine, so unless they changed that too before sending out any more defective ones, you can use that.

I haven't contacted them yet but expect to receive a replacement when they have them in... I'm surprised they haven't emailed everyone yet like I have heard other companies have done already. It's not a huge deal to turn it off manually for a few weeks to me. Protection is my main concern and this case does protect it well.

The tab going into the slot when the cover is folded back is the most annoying thing, but it is definitely secure once you do. I wish the tab was secured by a magnet instead. Lexington 2.0?

I don't have any reason to believe that they won't honor it with anybody that asks. It is interesting that they aren't doing a blanket communication to everybody that ordered like some of the other case vendors have.
