CONFIRMED THIS WORKS ON A 5S, BETA 3!!!

Thank you, sir!

*****!!!! Stuck at activate iPhone! 3rd time! 7.04, back I go!

Did you make sure you set the date back to Jan 6 on the phone? And that it was a clean restore of 7.0.4? And that you updated to 7.1 B3 by holding down alt and pressing update? And that you disconnected the cable the SECOND iTunes gave the success message? And that you're using Wi-Fi to activate instead of cellular? And that you're definitely a developer?

Just trying to eliminate the little details that could cause issues. This definitely should work. Just make sure of all of these things and make sure your UDID is actually registered.

Hmm... thanks for following up. I disconnected the phone the moment it rebooted. I'll try again and wait for iTunes success message.

Usually iTunes gives the message right as the phone reboots. It just says "Your iPhone has been successfully updated" or whatever.

I'd make a video of the exact procedure but I really don't want to risk it not being so lucky again. :/ I have no idea why it's not working with you. The only difference I imagine we have is I downgraded my iTunes to 11.1.3. Did it using this guide: http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/

Except instead of 10.7, I followed the same instructions to get to 11.1.3. I have an inkling that Apple may have plugged updating to expired betas in 11.1.4.

Success! I inadvertently selected restore instead up update during the process... I updated the plist file... and set the date back without rebooting first and ended up on the Activation screen! Argh!!!! Will do again... updated plist... reboot... THEN restore the date. Will keep all posted.

mKTank... at which point did you set your date back to normal?

Here's the exact steps I took:

- Did the update
- Jailbroke using evasion7
- Opened Cydia and it did its business
- Opened Cydia again after it was set up, chose User.
- Ignore the fact that it's complaining about certificates. After it's done its repo updating, I did a search for iFile.
- Click on iFile from the results
- Click on Install (even though it's a blank page or an error page, it'll still progress)
- Click on Confirm (again, there won't be any visual cues that anything's happening, but it is).
- After a few seconds it'll say "Reloading" or whatever it usually says after installing an app. After that, you can press the home button. iFile SHOULD be on the home screen now.
- Open iFile, and go to System/Library/CoreServices and open the SystemVersion.plist in Property List viewer.
- Do a few things. First of all, swipe to the left on "ReleaseType Beta" and remove that entry entirely.
- Second of all, change ProductVersion to 7.0.4
- Third and lastly, change ProductBuildVersion to 11B554a Make sure you type it in exactly accurately, capitalization and everything. It's absolutely vital. (In case the font doesn't show enough detail on your computer, that's one one beta five five four alpha, with the beta being capitalized).
- At this point, I went back into Cydia, found an app to do a respring called ReSpring Fast or just Respring. I say install them both (just to follow exactly what I did because it behaved a bit weirdly at this point), in the order of Respring and then ReSpring Fast. The reason I installed both is because when I installed Respring, it didn't show up on the home screen. I then installed ReSpring Fast and Cydia did a respiring by itself after installation without even running any apps. Weird.
- After the respring is complete, you may FIRST ensure that in General -> About, that 7.0.4 shows up as well as 11B554a. If so, now go to Date settings and turn on "Automatic Time."

That SHOULD be it. Now get rid of those two respring apps and you're set.

Confirmed working on iPhone 5S 64GB. Thank you very much! Damn it feels good to be back on 7.1b3... 7.0.4 was sucking the life out of me!!!!

I know. Picking between Beta 5 and jailbroken 7.0.4 is like picking between being starved or being fed rotten food. 7.0.4 is a disaster and there are more dropped frames than Crysis running on a calculator. Not to mention the battery life was terrible. Literally 2% a minute over here.

Pretty sure 7.1b3 + JB will be on my phone until they figure out how to jailbreak 7.1 final, or until iPhone 6 comes out next, whichever comes first. That's how good it is.

The worst advice I ever followed was all the people that went "bawww 7.1 won't have tweaks supported, everyone should go to 7.0.4!" Yeah no thanks, I'd rather live without ColorFlow and JellyLock if it means my phone gets a stable OS.

I suppose we both owe thanks to frrrr. Thanks man!

I may try this. I have tried numerous times to get back on 7.1b3 and it always says update is successful, but my phone activation always fails
Its either has to be the Itunes version, as I am on 11.1.4 or this doesnt work for iphone 5.

No problem! I figured Apple must have had some other motive for releasing the 11.1.4. The changelog wasn't exactly plump.

Posted a summary on the latest findings with links to the posts in the OP.

Thanks for updating the OP. Little inaccuracy though: all 7.1 betas are currently being signed. They're just expired, which is why we were facing Activation issues. But they ARE being signed and will continue to be signed until 7.1 final comes out. Once 7.1 comes out, Apple will stop signing the betas (this has happened with pretty much every beta in the past).

Once 7.1 final comes out/Apple stops signing the betas, iTunes won't even let you perform a restore/update, regardless of version.

now that 7.06 is released, If i try to upgrade to 7.1 beta 3 and can't activate, I'll be stuck with 7.06 right? or can I still go back to 7.04? I don't want to risk it losing jailbreak.
