All publicity is good publicity. No one would have given a rats posterior if Samsung had come up with an ad listing or embellishing features on their phone. On the other hand, this ad gets front paged on MacRumors and gets hundreds of comments (eyeballs). Subconsciously Samsung has already inserted itself as the "other" option to Apple - even if you consciously try to avoid them, you still think of them.

Irrelevant.

iPhone took off. Apple became more than a Mac company. Apple became mainstream for something else. Apple stopped worrying about Microsoft. They innovated out of a problem with great products, not with stupid advertising campaigns that are mildly amusing at best. And I'm referring to Samsung's onslaught of attack ads as well as the "I'm a Mac" campaign when I say that.

I'm one of the few that thought the Mac vs. PC commercials were very good.

In a sense they were art. Great concept. Funny and not too overboard with insults.

All Samsung has ever been able to do with their commercials is make themselves look like rank amateurs.

Lamest company ever and lamest android phones ever
Damn. These people are quick... Maybe they should focus their effort towards making their hardware better rather than... This. Then again, their crazy marketing seems to have worked so far. I like Android, but gosh I hate Samsung.
What am I as a viewer supposed to take away from this?
Samsung: Maybe you would make better commercials if you used more than one day.
It's nothing but a circle jerk for the anti-Apple Android group.
That Samsung is clueless and sophomoric.
That samsung is run by immature, destructive, petty losers.

Lame, sophomoric, and a real-time example of a circle jerk for anti-competition is what defines these comments that, by the way, all came in within mere seconds to 3 minutes after this post went live. You guys didn't even have time to watch the ads before you grabbed your pitchforks and lit your torches. What were the Mac vs PC ads? They were hilarious ads where Apple poked fun at Windows. This does the same thing, and they were actually very funny. I'm still getting the iPhone 6 Plus, though.

The funny thing is that Samsung couldn't get anyone to care enough, To stream their conference's when it was their turn.

No one cares about Samsung's premature conference. Worry about overload when you can get enough people to care in the first place.

Instead of taking a swing at Samsung's devices, which let's face it is like beating a dead horse, I'll just go ahead and point out the fact that their complete mediocrity has reached a point where not only do they need to center their commercials on detracting from Apple's devices, offering absolutely no information about their own, but they need to be the first ones to do it, in an attempt to seem edgy after doing so through phones has failed so miserably.

It's pathetic really.

Especially with such ****** ads to boot.

More of this please, seriously.
Apple needs all the flak they can get obviously before they start working on their streams.

It's always a mess, this time however it has been a disaster.

I eventually waited for the podcast to appear, since I wanted 1080p whilst I was at not watching live I had to wait "a little longer"... (which means I just finished watching it an hour ago.....)

Seriously, Apple needs to step it up here, I'm willingly watching their marketing, at least make it comfortable and easy!

Glassed Silver:mac

Couldn't have said it better!!!

As for the commercials, I enjoyed them !! :D

I don't like Samsung either, and don't like Android. But maybe Apple should focus on making its hardware better, it's inferior in so many ways. I like many Apple devices, but they are lagging at this point in time. Especially the hardware. For example, optical stabilizer on the 6 Plus only? Come on, unbelievable, it's been around for more than a year. Apple is lagging, let's face it.

Well they better make more of these commercials, and fast

Well they better make more of these commercials fast, because 5 of my non techie friends and counting have told me that there getting the iPhone 6 Plus, and there all Galaxy Note users.

When Samsung comes out with a 64bit chip then we can talk. Oh wait that would require google to make a 64bit os. Lmao. Samsung can throw all the specs at me they want but at the end of the day apple still has the most powerful chip IMO.

At least they're not insulting end users in these ads.

That’s a nod to the Mac & PC things right?
Seriously what difference does it make. Insult me or my choice of things, it all amounts to the same. I can’t believe people are still pedalling that line.

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding of apple's position on larger screens. Adding more screen sizes is not as simple for apple and iOS as it is for android.

To understand why, you have to think back to the iPhone 1, and iPhone OS;

I think people today forget how revolutionary that device was; it was a nearly desktop-class OS experience, optimized for touch running in the palm of your hand.

What people also forget, or perhaps never knew, was how little CPU power the iPhone 1 had. And YET it still was so smooth that you would hardly ever notice any stuttering or lag.

Even a few years LATER, android, on MUCH better hardware was nowhere near as smooth.(do people remember project butter?)

So how did iOS achieve this performance on such weak hardware? By making specific software decisions in the name of performance. One of these is the fixed pixel layout of the apps.

The original iOS had no real automatic layout feature (probably due to performance). Nothing was scaled.

Soon the new App Store was filled with apps based on this fixed layout design.

The next step for apple was to increase the screen resolution, to something much sharper. They could have gone with 720p or some other standard, but that would cause problems with the existing apps. They would need to be fractionally scaled, which would produce UGLY results.

So apple went with the logical resolution, 2x in each direction. 4x the number of pixels and a simple 2 times scaling which produce perfect scaling for existing apps.

Then when there was a need for a screen size increase, apple could have added width AND height, but, again this would be a problem for existing apps; so, instead apple only added height so existing apps could be "letter boxed" and not scaled at all.

It was at this time apple added an autolayout feature to iOS and recommended all developers begin using it. However with thousands of apps in the App Store, this transition wasn't going to happen overnight. So apple had to wait until it felt most of the apps had made the transition to autolayout. Then it would be time to allow apple to use any sized screen they wanted.

Which is what we are getting now with the iPhone 6

This frequently happens with software that is ahead of its time; compromises have to be made to bring the future to today, but soon, hardware advances, and those same compromises that made the paradigm possible are now more of a liability, especially if you need to maintain backward comparability.

This is on a damn 7.1 milometer phone. I'm not sure but that seems pretty hard to do.

I see it like the :apple:Watch.

The :apple:Watch could technically be considered 'late' to the game, but regardless of what you think of Apple's design of the watch - the interface, usability, and polish makes every other smart watch, including the Moto 360 look like complete (s). Apple clearly showed that they did their HW and didn't rush, as much as everyone HATES to admit it.

The big screen thing with 6 plus was clearly catch up, but I think when Apple releases something, it's usually not rushed and done right. At least Apple actually has a pair to admit it's mistakes(Apple Maps apology).

Then, looking at raw specs with iPhones vs Andriod flagships is completely pointless. Even the 2.5 Ghz Octocore snapdragon processor benchmarks nearly identical to the A7 chip. People throw around that android had these features for a year, but how well do they actually work?

That was fast. So fast it reeks of desperation rather than poking fun at the competition. Not that these "ads" really matter much in the big scheme of things.

I do not own anything from Samsung at all and that is not because they are bad. I just started with Apple. I have an MBA and iPad mini. Still I really liked the ads, because they are having fun and they worked because I laughed quite a bit. They should be having fun and so should Apple.

I don't see what all these hate comments are for? These ads made people cringe or puke? Why? I think both Apple and Samsung are laughing very hard at everything. The best always shows up in profit and the rest is left for us clowns to scrape. Simple really.

If you can't laugh and have a good time then what are you doing fighting a war with each other that does not even exist except for in your ego's?

Get the f over it.

Peace

Stop being logical on the Internet!!! :p

What am I as a viewer supposed to take away from this?

That's what I was thinking. I kept waiting for the live stream as to say, "Apple sucks" or something. Who watches the live stream except us fanboy nerds?

The average consumer isn't going to change their mind about the iPhone 6 because of a live stream issue.

Poor samsung. They **** their pants yesterday and instead of cleaning it up, they smeared it around and made these weak ads.

Bash Apple if you want to...
But how about you take more than a day to do it.
Desperate.

I will laugh so hard if samsung pull the "apple watch doesn't even have a camera" line.
By the way I cannot wait to get an apple watch sport, I know fitness bands exist already but given my investment in apple stuff already it makes sense to get an apple watch. And the black one looks awesome

what kind of an idiotic sense of humour one must have to find such ads funny?
and no im not saying that because im ******** or a fanboy or offended in any sense im saying that because even if it was apple making these adds hey are just unfunny and irritating.

And Apple is building 75-80 million iPhone 6's for the rest of the year alone. You had better email them and let them know no one's going to buy most of them, because they are "inferior" and "lagging".
