I will say one thing for certain: if there ever comes a day when I would consider non-Apple options in areas in which Samsung competes, I will avoid Samsung at all costs. At first the mockery in the ads was tolerable if not mildly amusing. It reminded me a bit of the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads, though not nearly as clever or tasteful, which isn't shocking at all. But realistically, it can be a bit fun to poke fun at your competition, and both sides can occasionally have a laugh at it.

But at this point, it's so tasteless and overwrought and utterly obnoxious that what little tolerance I had for Samsung as a company has completely disappeared. They have reduced themselves to obnoxious copycats in my mind at this point, and absolutely worst of all, DESPERATE.

Nothing reeks like desperation.

When was the last time we saw a "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ad?

...?

Exactly.

Samsung has learned a few tricks from Apple, but one trick they still haven't come close to learning is when to stop.

Agreed. Bashing your competition may be fun couple times, but the joke grows old quickly and then you seem like a sore loser. Samsung looks like a very insecure company, facing Apple who still has a strong "following", pretty loyal and satisfied customers. Samsung looks almost like jealous, if company can be jealous. Makes me very reluctant to ever even try their devices, even though my previous experiences with their products have been positive. Samsung, please stop being childish. Compete with your products - we need a strong competition for Apple - competition is good for innovation and prices. Please Samsung, make better products and keep innovating - and just as you said in the "ads", bigger screen is not a great innovation. You need to do big stuff, like revolutionize payments.

Really? How long was the apple vs pc ad campaign and how many commercials were they. Pot calling the kettle black.

Dude those Ad's ran for years!! Apple execs still often pokes fun at competitors as well. Personally I don't care and find it funny both ways.

I think these ads weren't made for adults. They probably air during Power Rangers or Blues Clues.

Either way, I don't think it's smart of Samsung to piss off a huge target group.

Just because we don't buy their phones doesn't mean that we don't value their dishwashers, ranges, laundry dryers, washers, etc. If were to buy any off these appliances this week I'd probably avoid Samsung products altogether :(

Jeez everyone forget the long ongoing series of mac vs pc ads? It's pretty much the same thing making fun of the competition. It's a clever and apple has done it two. Have a laugh or not but get over it.

I slightly disagree. In those ads Apple at least talked about what their product can do. These ads are just what Apple can't/didn't do, if they didn't put up the 3 second Galaxy screen at the end I'd just as well assume these were some random youtubers trying to get a view or two.

Go ahead, talk down your competition. Go for it, but and this is a big but, back it up with why your product is better.

I personally love the videos and think they're genius. I am still however jumping ship from my Note 2 to the 6 Plus lol

That was quick!

Wow, now that was quick!

After having owned a SII and a Note I i wished Samsung had been always so quick and efficient.

But more in line of updating the Software to the latest standards so they lag or suck just a tiny bit less

As an adult and relatively well educated person I should be matured and try to exercise wisdom and forgiveness.

But god forgive: I dislike fxxking Samsung.

Liking my LG Android phone, though ;)

Honestly, that guy just reminds me of the people at school that CANNOT seem to let the Apple vs Android debate go.

For the last time, I choose a phone that works best for me. Just because it might not have the largest screen or be the very bleeding edge tech doesn't mean it's a horrible device. You can stick with whatever floats your boat, but please do not try to force me into a phone that I clearly do not want.

you're talking about it aren't you? then the ad is working. if they didn't do the ad, you wouldn't talk about samsung at all

they have actually turned all Apple fanboys into walking, talking, advertisements for the Samsung brand. i bet many send out the link to that youtube channel and say "haha check out this crap"...and that person then forwards it on to a bunch of people

I would probably agree with you if not for the fact that several of my Samsung-toting, anti-Apple, Android-nerd friends are at a point where they're beginning to feel embarrassed about being Samsung users because of how ridiculous their marketing is getting.

Most civil people, whether Apple fans or Android fans, don't want to be associated with brands that incessantly feel the need to overcompensate. It's not a good vibe to be incessantly and fervently giving off.

I personally found the last few Samsung Ads (The Wall Hugger one etc.) to be pretty amusing and actually pretty good, however these ads are actually terrible.

Clearly rushed and poorly put together. Very cringe worthy.

On a side note, I look forward to reading the following exchange in this thread:

No different to the Mac vs PC ads

Those were a personification of computers, not attacking the users themselves

Whatever, they were the same

Happens every time on these boards

come on now. It was a pretty blatant metaphor for saying pc users are geeks and mac users are cool. At least that's how I took it. Again don't care cause it was all in good fun and good advertising.

LOL...I agree. I think they are funny. I also bet even an Apple employee or two feel they are funny as well.

Ten different Apple products in my home right now, no Samsung, but I think Apple Fan boys get their panties in a little bit of a wad from time-to-time.

Is it time to preorder yet?

people need to lighten up and stop taking it so personally. none of you founded apple, none of you work for apple, most of you don't even have a stake (stock ownership) of apple. as i said before, lighten up

Speak for yourself. Everyone here is an Apple owner, which makes people feel like they're part of a community. But aside from that, I'm sure many people here are stock-holders and you're kidding yourself if you think Apple employees aren't reading this site.

Regardless, these ads are really dumb. In a couple weeks no one will be talking about the keynote anymore. Also as someone else pointed out, I'd be willing to bet the majority of Apple's customers don't watch the keynote streaming live (if they watch it at all). Most of them probably come here or other sites and just read about the new products.

Samsung rely ought to establish themselves as a premium brand, not make petty attack ads against their competition.

You're a liar.

Also using a 20mbps connection, also a T-Mobile subscriber. My sister, a Verizon subscriber - same issue. Both of us, over wifi and cellular, had this problem. Friends of mine, living across the country, had the same problem. MacRumors members, if the several pages of comments on the keynote thread are any indication, had the same issue. On the website, as well as on Apple TV. Also, no internet connection causes a Chinese interpreter to randomly start talking over everything.

If you desperately need to feel like you're better than other faceless people on the internet, this is a pretty awful way to go about it.

I agree, here on the east coast I have FIOS at 150/150 Mbps and I cold barely watch the thing until towards the end. That was trying it on my phone, iMac and Apple TV.

So, of the people watching this ad, maybe 5% watched or heard about the live stream. That leaves 95% of the audience confused. Sort of like the features they add and then obsess over in their ads. Scrolling with your eyes? 5% of Galaxy users utilize that feature. That's being generous. Silly geese.

i still find these funny. if you can't look past that it's samsung and just enjoy it for what it is...you seriously have emotional problems when it comes to apple

people need to lighten up and stop taking it so personally. none of you founded apple, none of you work for apple, most of you don't even have a stake (stock ownership) of apple. as i said before, lighten up

"which phone is yours? they all have nicks on the top" --> i'm an iPhone 5 owner and i found this funny b/c it's true

That being said, attacking a multi-billion dollar company based off of a two hour live stream is pretty pathetic.

They talked about multi screens, stylis pen, how their phones apparently charge faster (not sure they actually do but) so technically they did and usually do in the poking fun at apple ads. Whether or not this makes their phone better to the user I guess is up to the user. I find most touch wiz features gimmicky but some can be useful/cool. Personally I've had too many friends with hardware problems with samsung product that my next phone will be either going back to an iphone or sticking with the nexus line if I stick with Android.

It wasn't apple's fault though. They hired a special group to broadcast. The board operator was probably a newbie who is probably out of a job right now.

Of course it was Apple's fault. If they hired a special group they didn't hire a very good one.

More of this please, seriously.
Apple needs all the flak they can get obviously before they start working on their streams.

It's always a mess, this time however it has been a disaster.

I eventually waited for the podcast to appear, since I wanted 1080p whilst I was at not watching live I had to wait "a little longer"... (which means I just finished watching it an hour ago.....)

Seriously, Apple needs to step it up here, I'm willingly watching their marketing, at least make it comfortable and easy!

Glassed Silver:mac

I totally agree. Don't even offer live stream if you can't handle it. On the past it has been OK, few frozen moments every now and then but still watchable! This live stream however goes beyond and live stream disaster that I have seen, right from the start! Bad quality, Japanese female translating, mixed clips of the entire event all the way through to the end, absolutely unbelievable!

At first it was cute but now Samsung phones arent even the best Android phones...lol! Id be worried about LG and HTC more than Apple at this point.

Dude those Ad's ran for years!! Apple execs still often pokes fun at competitors as well. Personally I don't care and find it funny both ways.

And they stopped when Apple products truly became mainstream. And they were never, ever remotely as overt and pointed as Samsung's tend to be, and again, they were always far more tasteful. But furthermore, Apple didn't build their brand off copying/being "inspired by" Windows like Samsung copied/was "inspired by" Apple. Apple didn't make the Galaxy S2. Apple doesn't make the Galaxy Alpha.

Skipping all of that though, I don't like Samsung much, but I can admit and acknowledge that they're clearly pretty mainstream now and have a large and recognizable install base, but they still haven't gotten the memo that when that happens, it's time to dial it back a little bit on the attack ads. That's when it's time to start building a brand off of your own merit.

Apple stopped living in Microsoft's shadow and focused on the future. Samsung has not learned how to do that. I'd be far more intrigued by their products if they could, but the longer this drags on, the more skeptical I become.

And again, to be perfectly clear, on multiple occasions in the recent past, different Samsung-toting, anti-Apple friends were the ones who felt the need to be apologetic about their device choices in light of how obnoxious Samsung is starting to be perceived. I didn't say anything about it; they did. You know it's time to start dialing it down when your own fan base is starting to get annoyed with it.
